New show!

Looking for a new fandom by any chance?! Or even just a new show to watch? If so, check out The Mustekeers. I've totally fallen in love with it.

The men are beautiful, the women are awesome, the production values are high and there's a heap of swash and buckle. Oh and the bromance is OFF THE SCALE! Ok, so it's a little silly and I'm not sure how historically correct it is but boy it's entertaining. :)

And look at this GORGEOUS vid!! It's fantastic!

*swoon*

I've really been enjoying this and with all scripted adventure tv - who cares about historical accuracy? It's not pretending to be a documentary.

You forgot the gorgeous horse flesh, beautiful tailoring and the mud and the rain. I'm a sucker for the mud and rain....oh, so THAT'S why I fell in love with SPN?? hehe...SPN needs more mud and rain again - yep, definitely. :))

I've actually been enjoying the political stuff also and it makes me wonder about what was actually going on at the time. Much like Spartacus did, it's made me interested in history (shock horror because I was horrible at history in school) .

And oh yes yes!!! The costuming is glorious! As are the sets (those wonderful rooms!) and I adore the cinematography. And the horses! Hee…and mud and rain (and men in the mud and rain….;D)

*nods* Who wielded the power and influence was far more than just blood lines. The Cardinal and his army, The King and The Musketeers and who married who for allegiance, land and power all had very complicated backgrounds, I expect there's still a lot more of that to come. Royal Courts were full of plotting and intrigue. **rubs hands in glee**

That's because history in school is all about facts and dates and knowing when happened what and what it was named. The interesting stories don't make it into school-history classes.
It was the same for me. Not a fan of history in school but love to read/watch stories playing in a historical setting, showing what was going on in that time from the pov of people living in that time.

Oooh, is that an official video? It makes the show look very enticing!

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2014-03-09 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's a fan vid! Isn't it amazing?

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-03-09 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It is totally silly but I keep coming back every week because - musketeers! Leather! Horses and shaggy boys! D'Artagnan is sultry!

Why why why do they NEVER get Athos right though? This one is growing on me but - Athos in the book is just awesome. Winge winge...

Never mind, back to the leather! Mud! Horses! Costumes! Bromance!

Oh and Dr Who!

Aaaah, I don't have the book Athos to compare him too. I think like this one because of his quiet authority.

Ha! And Dr.Who! He's soooo wonderfully menacing. Love all the characters actually.

Book Athos is my favorite, but I love this version as well. I think it works so well for me because of the casting.

The books are pretty wonderful, full of comedy as well as drama and Athos does have quiet authority in the books too. He's the one with the tortured past, all noble and suffering - I love that in a hero! LOL

Anyone heard who's going to be playing the Cardinal in season 2? And no, I didn't mean to say WHO at all! :)

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-03-09 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha ha no, are they replacing Capaldi then? David Tennant did other things when he was Dr Who.

As far as I've heard yes, there were some quotes floating around from the cast of Musketeers when his Who role was announced, saying they'd miss him very much on set but wishing him well.

I think season 2 is already filming, so I guess it's a clash of timing?

I just started it - catching up with it will be my distraction show for todays ironing marathon (yes, perfect spring weather and I'm doing laundry...pre-travel crazyness).
The only thing I hope is watching it now will not get me in trouble once Doctor Who comes back considering who the new Doctor is playing here.

It is a little disconcerting seeing Mr Capaldi there but then again, every time I see him I hear him swearing like a trooper like he did in The Thick of it which will be even worse when watching him as Dr Who !

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2014-03-10 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Watching TV whilst doing the iron is one of my fav things to do! (well, not the iron but being distracted by dashing lads…).

It will be interesting to see what they do with Mr Capaldi. I love him in this role.

[identity profile] killabeez.livejournal.com 2014-03-09 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Athos!! He is my favorite, too. Which is hilarious, because he's always my favorite, but I always expect that a new adaptation will shift my attentions. I have loved Santiago Cabrera since Heroes, the actor who plays Porthos is SMOKIN' HOT, and I do love me some Aramis/Porthos, but. Apparently I Have a Type.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2014-03-10 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
yay Athos!! And I am falling for Aramis as well (especially after ep6). I'll have to start reading some fic- I can imagine Aramis/Porthos would be smoking!:))

I've been seeing this mentioned. I was wondering why I'd never heard of it. Is it non-USA produced? British perhaps? If so, will have to find it somewhere as I think it's not yet in the US.

[identity profile] growyourwings.livejournal.com 2014-03-09 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That was me. For some reason LJ logged me out. *whatever*

I found it. Watched the first ep. Will be watching more. :)

Oooh, you watched one? Yay! So much fun. <3333

Looks intriguing -- I'll be looking for this on BBC America.

I've been really enjoying it (and hubby too, which is always good - means we can watch it together *g*).

[identity profile] crystalsc.livejournal.com 2014-03-16 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh lordy. I don't need another new show. LOL I've got too many!

But this one is PREEEETTTYYYYY!!!! :D
