A variety of bits...

First off... WOW! [livejournal.com profile] maichan808 and I have been overwhelmed (in a wonderful way) to the response Channel Surfing has received. It's been humbling. Heartfelt thanks to those who watched and commented. It really does mean such a lot to us. AND it's makes the hours of fiddling with those damn TV sets worth it. Though I can't complain because maichan did all the reeeeally tricky stuff -like moving footage inside a TV while the shot is moving (friggin' nightmare ...).

I feel like I could blab about that vid for ages because it consumed so much of my time, but I won't bore you. Though if you have any questions please feel free to ask. You know me.. ;) Blab, blab...

The other wonderful collaboration vids are appearing. Pop over to SVS to check them out:

[livejournal.com profile] starrylizard and [livejournal.com profile] crystalsc made a fantastic Bela vid. The song is perfect for her and as I have a soft spot for her I just adored it. :)

[livejournal.com profile] tiggeratl1 and [livejournal.com profile] turquoisetumult made a cracktastic vid to Johnny Cash's "Boy Named Sue".. except of course it's Sammy! Ha! Had me grinning the whole time.

[livejournal.com profile] my_sn_therapy and [livejournal.com profile] xdudyoufuglyx made a wonderful recap/ensemble vid to a song that must have been written for SPN. The fast paced editing is fantastic and (as with the others) you can't tell where one vidder begins and one ends. Loved it! :)

Another Vid Rec
A while back I rec'd an animated vid that appeared on You Tube by Fraggledragon. She's just posted part 2! \o/ It's equally fantastic so if you enjoyed the first one here's a link to PART TWO.

SHOW!!!
MY GOD!! I haven't had a chance to chat about the last episode AT ALL! (No idea how the episode was received... Did you all like it??!!) My insta reaction would have been ZZZOOOOOOMMMMMMMBBBBBBIIIIIEEEEEESSSSS!!! \o/ Man, I loved that. I'm a sucker for those kind of zombies. I almost expected them to start saying... "Braaaaaainsss" :D

Things that struck me:

Sam and Dean worked so well together. They seem to be gelling more and there was a comfortableness that I've missed.

Jim Beaver. Yay. Had his chance to shine and I think he handled it really well. Broke my heart anyway.

Mrs Singer. I was initially concerned with the way they portrayed her (as a generalised 50's housewife), but I actually think that was the point. I wonder if it was to bring home how much Bobby has lost? - as in the comfort side of the relationship. It felt more symbolic than anything else. Though (like John) he was a completely different man before his wife died and I got a really good sense of how he might have been before he became the Bobby we know. And having to kill her again?! Oh man. :((((

Jensen is aging so beautifully. *sigh* He's a handsome devil isn't he??!

See what happens when I'm not vidding?! I make a post a mile long. Did you get this far?!

I'm taking a vidding break now. My parents arrive tomorrow (which I am excited about) and then it's the school holidays, so I am going to chill for a bit. Hoping to catch up on your posts, some reading and watching those vids you've all been posting that I haven't had a chance to catch up with yet. :D

*hugs* to each of you.

I was excited when I saw part 2 of the animated vid posted. It's really great and I feel like saying: Draw faster!! I want to see part 3!

I loved the last epi!! (I think I always say that...) And I thought Mrs Singer was really creepy with being all "housewify", baking pies and stuff but with the white face you know she is dead. And Bobby doesn't care, he loves her "dead or alive". What a heartbreak.

Thanks again for sending the song "Chi Mai". I don't know what I was thinking wanting to vid it. It's a bit of a nightmare but I'm doing it anyway (because I want to...).
And I don't have firefox (about dl). And I'm not so sure I want to try things that make you koff while mentioning...*wink*

Enjoy your vidding break. I can't see it last very long....*g*

:D:D

Yeah, I love that animated vid. Though it must have been a few months between posts... I agree... Draw faster! :D:D

I can't see it last very long....*g*

Ha! You know me too well... I'm hoping to give it at least 2 weeks! (though I admit to having the next one planned! I actually can't wait to start on it... *iz patient*

I did very much enjoy how well Sam and Dean were working together in that episode... it's about damn time, is all I can say...

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Here! Here! Let's hope it stays that way now... it's going need to for them to survive what must be coming me thinks... :D

[identity profile] ancastar.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the recs, hon! With BB madness upon us, I've no time to vid, myself. But I love to keep watching them. This should keep me busy.

Have fun with the 'rents.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I know... and look how much you've written! BB is when I truly feel like there are not enough hours in the day - so much reading, not nearly enough time...

I'm looking forward to them though.

*hugs* thanks hon.

You're allowed to babble all you want. I know it was a colossal effort.

And when the parents leave you'll be jonesing to get back to vidding, I know...

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! It's only been 2 days and I'm already jonesing - so yeah, it won't be long before I'm going a bit crazy. But, I keep telling myself it's good for me... having a break.

Thanks hun... hope to catch up on some of your recent vid soon. ;)

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that was one of the more impressive vis I've seen in a while.

Makes me want to take another stab at the boys again. Maybe I'll pick a better theme to do it to... :)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought S&S was a perfect theme...

But yay!! - now that you've got the footage, you could totally do the boys again....

:D :D

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the one I've been thinking of is Dallas. Sort of because it's a polar opposite type of show. And also the other Dallas one I did was of my vacation and no one was really a fan of my vacation footage. :)

So what do you think, Dallas???

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah! That could work.... They have the traveling screens yeah?

Hee! The boys are from Kansas. That might be funny... :) Instead of the high rises, there's the small crumpled cottages and instead of highways, lonely back roads.. oops....blabbed...

Feel free to brainstorm ideas if you wish.. :)

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I thought it would be funny too. I already have the traveling screens worked out from the other video. The one thing I noticed on all the other Dallas vids is the background clips and the foreground clips aren't moving correctly. And that OCD of mine meant I HAD to figure out how to do it.

But it will have to wait as I'm doing another Quantum Leap mashup. I think I actually found a funnier show to do this with than Doctor Who...

[identity profile] maichan.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, I think you're entitled to blab after working so hard on this for a solid month ;)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee!

Feels a bit weird not having it to do... ;)

[identity profile] maichan.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I forgot to mention earlier that you should feel free to respond to comments at my YT. I just replied to one over on yours about the ancient Greek in the CSI titles. I'm glad I did my research on that one. LOL

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I was going to mentioned that comment to you. It's great that someone noticed them.. :D And yes, the research payed off... :D :D

Thanks... I hope to get some comment responding done on YT soon. Some awesome feedback over there.
xx

The video is worth blabbing, bragging, boasting... Go ahead! :D

I always post my ep thoughts on SVS but no one seems to have done that with this episode so I'll re-post here. :)

I thought, FINALLY! Some good Bobby background and story about him. Not about his connection to Sam and Dean or how he helps them or anything else...Just Bobby. I teared up when they showed him holding hands with his wife. His portrayal felt very real and I can't help but wonder how Jim Beaver feels about portraying a man who's lost the love of his life - something he knows all too well in real life. I liked how Bobby was more calm and resigned in this one and I did get the sense that his spirit was more broken. Like the fight is just leaving him. It was also nice to still see him in some action even though he's in the wheelchair. They must see that's it's not practical for him though to keep hunting. He's a sitting target. :(

The other thing I really liked about the episode was some of the angles and shots. The one of Dean as he stands outside Bobby's house was YUMMY! And I always love when the camera pans around them. There were also some shots of Bobby in the yard that looked great as well as one of Sam and the sheriff on the sidewalk. I liked the guys talking in the Impala under those big street lights Bobby's got on his fence. Oh, also the shots of them in the closet.

I thought the lady playing Karen did a nice job. Particularly her talk with Dean. (Hee, earlier this season they had a character named Crystal, then one named Nora which is my sister's name and now a Karen which is my Mom's name! :D )

I liked how Sam was trying to get the zombie lady to talk to him from across the room. I giggled there. "I'm gonna regret this." And I did giggle at "Don't you get tired of being wrong all the time?" "I'm making this up as I go along."
OH! And gotta love Dean's "Must be Thursday." which paralleled Buffy's "Must be Tuesday."

(And I think you're dead-on with the point being to show how Bobby was changed, just like John)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2010-03-30 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey! I love me some show chat. I've been really missing it and I was too busy to get involved in any for the last episode.

I agree it was great to see some more of Bobby's story. Heart-breaking, but so interesting. Shows you how love can change the way you feel about a supernatural entity - in this case zombie. I love that many members of the town when into the cover up just so they could keep their loved ones.

And the camera angles and shots often impress me in this show (great for vidders!). I love that they put thought into that. And Dean outside Booby's is a classic.

Hee! And your family names are being covered! :D

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me on this episode.

*hugs*
