Credit where credit is due:

Many people helped make this video a reality.

[livejournal.com profile] maichan Wow. Where do I start? The movie posters, the opening and closing title sequences, the movie names and some song suggestions. There is no way this video would have happened without her valuable assistance. Thank you SO MUCH hun.
[livejournal.com profile] _sharvie_ My awesometasical beta. Quite a bit of research went into this one and [livejournal.com profile] _sharvie gave me much needed assistance with that. Not to mention her wonderful ideas and incredible eye for detail. Thanks as usual darlin'.
[livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c For her suggestion of slapstick - it never occurred to be until she mentioned it. Also for her valuable feedback on that section. *smish*
[livejournal.com profile] dinalori For her suggestion of using movie posters to transition the genres. This vid was dead in the water until that idea. :D

Vid notes

This idea came to mind when Jensen mentioned that Supernatural was like a Western. My thought was "yes, as well as many other genres". I've been sitting on it since October last year, never really sure how to make it work. Recently I decided to have another play and when [livejournal.com profile] maichan808 agreed (again) to help me with the graphics I was inspired to go back to it.

I haven't included all the genres I could have. I was gazumped by "Monster Movie" for Classic Horror so I didn't re-visit that one. And I'm sure there are a few others I could have done but 6 was enough!

No money made but comments are always gratefully (and warmly) accepted.

No, thank you for the opportunity to contribute to this brilliant project! It turned out more awesome than I could've possibly imagined.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I really wasn't sure how it would all look put together - I suppose I was just hoping that it would actually work. :) The posters and the opening sequence contributed SO much to helping it all fit together. :D

It was an absolute blast working with you. :D

That was bloody wonderful! What a fantastic idea for a vid and, as always, so brilliantly put together by you - just awesome! I think the slapstick one was my favourite *lol* but honestly, the clips you chose for every part of the montage were just spot-on.

Excellent work as always ♥

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Thanks so much darlin'. The slapstick one was so much to edit. It also meant I had to find a new effect for my program... which is always great fun.

Thanks again hun! *smish*

OMGosh Sarah! *bows down to you* This is SO outstanding; you're in a class of your own, hun (helpers acknowledged). The creativity of it just leaves me gobsmacked - hopefully I'll have found more words by the time it's posted over at SVS:)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Heya Kirsty. Thank you sooooo much. I'm just thrilled that I actually managed to finally make it. :) I've been sitting on this for so long.

I wasn't sure about posting it to SVS because I have been so slack with commenting of other peoples vids lately, I feel it's unfair to expect peps to comment on mine....

Thanks again hun. Always love hearing from you.

absolutely brilliant. Fun and totally truthy about show, brilliantly edited, and I love too that it echoes on several levels how SPN really works so well because of everyone who works on it, not just writers and actors and directors but the location crew and set dressers and artists and EVERYONE. You and your team have done a fantastic job with this!

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yay! Thank you so much. It's so true - it's all those behind the scenes peps that get it so right to create such great textures in the show.

Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
*hugs*

OMG, this is wonderful!! I love cinema, and I love SPN, and this vid manages to combine both so flawlessly! I'm totally downloading this and showing it to my sister!

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Thanks. I'm a huge cinema fan myself. Man, I would love to SPN made into a film!

Thanks so much for your comment. I hope your sister enjoys it. :D

Haha! Awesome! I think I spat tea over the "Splendor in the fall" one. Love the music selections and just perfectly professional looking! \o/

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Thanks so much hun. The Splendor in the Fall (totally [livejournal.com profile] maichan's wicked movie title!) gave me the most problems actually.... so I'm glad you like it. :D

Thanks again.
*hugs*

I love, love this vid. So much. I love the idea behind it, and how you mixed the music and clips so brilliantly and illustrated just how it's this mix of different genres in a way. Perfect. And I loved the effects. This is so AMAZING! You all did a wonderful job with this vid. Now I go back to watching it on loop. Hee. ;)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)

I still can't stop watching this! *lol*

You know I adore everything you do but ever since this was just a twinkle in your mind's eye, I knew this would be something special and you delivered in a big way.

Congrats, babe! You hit it out of the park. All the way OUT! SQUUUEEEEE!!!! *\o/*

Plus, I think you are just the sweetest ever to make sure everyone involved feels appreciated. *squishes you so tight*

I wish I had another SPN icon right now cause "Rock On!" so doesn't cover the amount of squee this needs. :P

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Steeeeph! *glomps*

You know you enabled this yeah? I was thinking about this before and thought back to how that Western section was sitting in my file forever and then I showed it to you asking if you thought it had any potential? You said absolutely and well, the rest is history. So thanks for that.;) I'm kinda glad I got this one out of my system..... :)

Thanks for EVERYTHING! (I'm so glad it comes across that I want peps involved appreciated... that's really important to me. These things don't happen in isolation....and all that behind the scenes stuff can go un-noticed).

*mega smish* (Phew.... think I'll take a wee break now...)

ASH! You are MY WONDERWALL!!! For serious, I love every single thing you do so, so much, and this is no exception. You (and Maichan) are outrageously talented to be able to take this concept and make it ROCK SO HARD. Every individual piece is so clever and well-constructed (Splendor in the Fall \o/!!!) and on top of that they all work together so well.

JOYJOYJOY
♥♥♥

Deiiiiiii!!! *smish*

Oh man! It's finally came together. \o/ Man, I remember way back when I was contemplating how this was all going to work ... I honestly didn't think I'd go back to it.

Hee! Splendor in the Fall! [livejournal.com profile] maichan's wonderful movie title. My ideas totally sucked when it came to the titles - it was also the hardest section to work on .... Steph kept me on track though. :)

Thanks darlin'

I found this via [livejournal.com profile] maichan's post at [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalart, in which she also linked to the vid, and then I was like, Oh hey, I know these! I saw the Channel Hopping vid a little while ago and the 500 Miles one, and now I put LJ and YouTube users together, LOL.

Once again another impressive effort. As I commented on YT, I think the "Bad Bros II" editing was beyond amazing. The explosions and shotgun blasts were timed perfectly.

I also loved the Supernatural Waltz.

Thank you for taking the time to make these and share them!

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
HI. Yep! Same user. :D

Thanks so much for dropping by. I'm glad you liked Bad Bros editing - it was such a lot of fun to make.

Oh my....tha...it....wha...whe...huh? oO
Ok, *coughs* Seriously, whaaaaat? oO You people keep killing me the whole day with your awesome stuff....
I don't even know where to start. Maybe that this video is the most freaking original I've ever seen? Yeah, I think that'd be it...

The Good, the bad and the evil - woah, you actually created the western sense! Totally loved it, though I'm not a fan of this genre. But everything - music, colors, clip choice - was so well chosen for this part!

Slice - duuuuude....favoite part! I loved the music, and I think it was so perfect for this part. I really imagined that if SPN was somekind of a thriller show, you would make an amazing promo for it. I LOVED the spinning zoom, great idea for this part.

This gun for hire - Bela is awesome here. And you totally maniped the scene! I believed in every second. So stylidh ^_^

Bad bros II - oO Okay, THAT was the action-est video I've ever seen. Well, not a video, but a part of a video, but anyway....All the clips you chose for this part were soooooo...yay!

Splendor in the fall - okay, I was grinning through this whole part cause it remind me of Brokeback mountain somehow, and after such an action part it was very...different :P But I liked it, it was in the drama style, and I like your work with colors, so bright and contrast.

Running scared - ahahahahahaahha I freaking LOVED this part! \o/ You win for life ;)
3:44 - I seriously started laughing my ass of at this moment, oh Dean...
3:46 - muhawhawhawhaw *dropped dead from laugh* OMG, that's my favorite moment, when this thing drops on Dean (311 ep).

I have to say that this seriously something, you amaze me each time you post something new, but this.....♥ I'm gonna download and keep forever \o/

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Loki! Wow. What wonderful feedback darlin'. Thanks so much. *smish*

I'm so glad you liked "Slice" - I had a couple of attempts at that one - I ended up having to chop up the music a bit to speed things up a bit at the end. And Whee! for the spinning zoom - never done that before! :D

Thanks so much for ALL your awesome comments. It means such a lot to me hun.

*heffa hugs*

This was absolutely brilliant Ash! I loved it and was thoroughly enthralled with it. *APPLAUDS* When I see vids of this caliber I automatically think about how the makers of SPN would react to it - and when it's this good I'm more than sure that they would be blown away by the professional look of it. I must admit I didn't want it to end! And now of course you've got me thinking about lots of favourite flicks of mine that could be easily Supernaturalfied! maichan's art was just superb too and certainly helped cement the polished and professional feel to the vid. BRAVO all round!!

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much hun. (Hee! I would LOVE the makers of SPN to see it - that would be so cool!!)

I'm thrilled you thought it looked professional. That's always such a lovely compliment. And I agree, [livejournal.com profile] maichan's graphics are superb - I was thrilled with everything she produced. She seemed to instinctively understand exactly what I was after.

Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely feedback.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 09:42 am (UTC)(link)

Thanks for watching.

*applauds* That was fantastic! Oh man, where do I start? As always your editing was superb, choice of clips perfect and overall finished product beyond compare. :D

Loved the whole thing, but the two sections that caught my attention the most were:

"Bad Bros II": the timing of the action with the music was so perfect! If I didn't know better I'd think it was a trailer for an actual movie.

"Splendor in the Fall": I was grinning like the Cheshire cat all the way through that one! LOL! The way it was edited it can be taken one of two ways: a quintessential best-friend-chick-flick movie, a' la "Beaches", or slashy like (as someone else mentioned) "Brokeback Mountain." *grins*

Glad I was able to give you the jump start for this vid. Now, of course, like all good movies there must be a sequel! ;^D

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
Heya! So glad you enjoyed it. That idea was just so inspired and I just love that I was able to get [livejournal.com profile] maichan to produce the posters.

So glad you enjoyed Bad Bros - editing that was such a lot of fun - I find it so much easier to work with strong beats than the softer lyrical ones.

That said, Splendor in the Fall was the hardest one. I had 6 versions of that before we (my beta and I) settled on the final one - and even then it had some more tweaks!

a quintessential best-friend-chick-flick movie, a' la "Beaches", or slashy like (as someone else mentioned) "Brokeback Mountain."

YAY! Just what I was aiming for.... BM was in some ways my inspiration, but I didn't want it to be tooooo slashy (just a hint!).

And a sequel???!!!! Holy moly..... *gulps*

Thanks again.
xx

OMG, this is so awesome! I thought nothing could equal your "Channel Hopping" vid, but this totally does. Endind with the slapstick version was an especially great touch.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! Thanks hun.... that's so lovely to hear. (Hee! I never thought I could equal Channel Hopping! :D :D)

And I felt I needed to end with a bit of silliness. It fascinates me that a TV show can be so blood thirsty one minute and full of slapstick moments the next....

Thanks so much for watching. :D

[identity profile] thandie.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I'M DYING!
The last two 'movies' were by far my favourite, I was pratically laughing so much I had tears in my eyes...
The soundtrack is from that Brad Pitt movie right? I can't remember the name of the movie, 'the fall'? That was ridicolously romantic, and SO perfect. I mean, the Wincest is really that obvious :P
The ending though was the BEST.

In brief: SO MUCH LOVE.

ETA: I just noticed I start the line with 'the' THREE times here, why do I always do that? Seriously.
Edited 2009-06-11 15:01 (UTC)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yay!! I am so happy you liked it. :D

It's so weird .... when I was making the drama one (which took for freakin' ever!) it was all so serious etc. and then when I put it with the rest, it made me giggle.

The music is from Legend of the Fall. Originally I had the music from Pearl Harbour but it made it very cheesy. [livejournal.com profile] maichan suggested this music and it all started to click into place.

Anyway .... (sorry, I could talk vidding forever!) thanks so much for watching and commenting. It means a lot to me. :D

Brava!

That was awesome. I loved the slapstick one and the angsty romance one actually got me a little worked up too. Bela in a noir film is inspired, it was all fabulous.

The movie posters were just amazing too.

Big thanks to everyone who had a hand in.

Hi. Thanks so very much. So glad you liked Bela in the noir one. I kinda liked her as the femme fatale. :D

This is awesome. They're all really impressive, clips and music perfectly chosen. I'm especially struck by the noir one. And the slapstick. Okay, and the western too. And the other ones. I mean, they're all just really good.

But Bela, wow, and Robert. They looked so amazing. I loved that you chose secondary characters for that one, and they worked so well. ♥

Thank you for this! It's amazing.

Hi. Thank you so much. Thrilled tou liked Bela and Robert .. I just adore the way Robert was shot in Crossroad Blues - so beautifully noir and Bela has such a classic look about her.

What a fantastic video! The editing is brilliant, the music fits wonderfully, and the choices for the genres are perfect. Each sequence works really well on its own as a movie clip/trailer, and together they show that Supernatural is (or can be *g*) more than just a show about monsters.

I laughed out loud when Splendor in the Fall came up, but then I immediately awwwwed and I think now it's my favorite :)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
