It's an illness I tells ya!

The sun is glorious today (even more so because here in Perth we haven't seen it much lately) and my husband and daughter have gone to the Royal Show so I am left to my own devises... *rubs hands gleefully* Of course this means sitting in front of the computer vidding....

When it's pouring with rain I don't feel so bad about that.... but today I feel like I should be OUT THERE. But no... I can't let an opportunity like this slip by. *opens editing program*

I'm here, so pop by and say hi. What you all are up to....?

And while I'm here:

Bottom 3 all time episodes of SPN:

(I know that sounds negative, the upside of this is I only have 3 - the rest I either really like or absolutely LOVE!)

Yellow Fever
Hollywood Babylon
Free to be You and Me (*eek*, I know - but. I just couldn't. Though I did ADORE the opening montage - that goes in my Top 3 Moments!)

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. I don't know that I could limit myself to just three bottom eps. I mean, I ADORE Supernatural, but they have done some bad, bad eps.

With SPN, I find it's easier to pick top eps than bottom ones. And I agree, the montage at the beginning of this week's otherwise fairly badly-written story was wonderful.

What's so amazing about SHOW is how Jared and Jensen bring their A game to even the worst eps. I mean, Jensen was WONDERFUL in Hollywood Babylon!

Ramble ramble ramble. Happy vidding! Can't wait to see your next creation.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes - there are certainly more down there but for me I've limited to the ones where I have wanted to throw the TV out the window. Or I have at least yelled at it. And it never comes down to the performances - it's always the writing or (mostly) screwy characterisations.

J&J are always awesome and commit themselves to no matter what they have in front of them. And Jensen was great in HB and I actually liked his sense of comic timing in YF but it was just so wrongly placed... And of course Jared was just so gorgeous in Free to Be *iz shallow*, but yeah - just tooooo many holes and weird characterisations...

Thanks! Vid program is open.... now I just have to figure out how to do what I want to do with this vid...

[identity profile] redteekal.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
First of all - the weather is indeed gorgeous, I concur and does it count if I take the dogs out the backyard and play with them in the sun for a while? The Royal show was gorgeous yesterday (competing with my dogs there in the agility) but I now have a buttload of things to get done today.

Second of all - How can BUGS not be in your bottom three?? I mean really...lol!! I know there was excellent Sam/Dean moments there with the news to Sam about Dad keeping an eye on him and being proud of him but still....BUGS!!

And third of all - I'm leaning towards agreeing with the FTBYAM being in the bottom three - I need to get the screentime totals of scenes I did not want in that episode to confirm said bottom three status. And then weigh that against the gorgeous Sam scenes that still broke my heart. Ahh such dilemmas.

Lastly - I am now off to shops before coming back and trying to do some housework before friend comes over and we watch District 9 and partake in chicken and avocado sandwiches and fruit salad. In between me going through S5 screencaps attempting to put together a pretty picspam of the boys.

And all this is probably far more info than you ever needed to hear! *vbg*

PS Please vid away - I absolve you of all guilt laden feelings regarding not being outside because I know you are vicariously enjoying beautiful weather via your hubby and daughter :) And also cos I'm selfish and like your vids *g*

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
:D Yes - playing with the dog outside does count and I might even take him for a walk! :D

Now see Bugs is weird for me. I mean WORSE ENDING EVER... but, there were some really nice moments and some interesting character developments so I couldn't but that right down there. I mean there are a few episodes that I felt *meh* about, but those ones I actually felt cross about. (I am far too emotional attached to my show!).

Oooh - and District 9 is on my list of films to watch too.

Hee! And I feel much better about vidding now instead of spending the day in this glorious sunshine!

xx

Heh, kinda have to agree with all of emeraldsedai's comment.

My bottom 3 list keeps changing. It used to include 'Tall Tales', 'Hollywood Babylon' and 'Folsom Prison Blues', only to get bumped by 'Red Sky at Morning', 'Long Distance Call' and 'Time is On My Side.

But now...mmm...

1) 'Monster Movie' (the only episode I ever contemplated changing the channel on)
2) 'Free To Be You and Me'
3) and probably still 'Long Distance Call'. (The PHONE COMPANY?? Really???) That or 'Chris Angel is a Douchebag'.

I dunno, 'Bugs' gets a lot of crap, but even though the actual MOTW plotline was awful, I still adore anything from season 1, and pretty much same with season 2. Those are just classic SPN for me *puts them on a shiny pedestal*

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah - I forgot about Red Sky at Night... that's definitely down there. Ewww...

Now (because I am completely shallow) Long Distance Call had Sam tied up so it gets points for that! But the MOTW.... yep! It's certainly wallowing on the bottom. Didn't mind Chris Angel... though Sam was tied up again... so maybe it was that...;) or Time is on My side.. though I think Sam was....? Yep, I think I can see a pattern here. :D

I actually put my brain on hold for Monster Movie. It was as though anything that had ever happened before this episode didn't actually happen.... very strange episode. Though I did like the genre shout out.

Those are just classic SPN for me *puts them on a shiny pedestal*

OMG Yes! Shiny S1 (particularly) and S2.... Those were the days.....

xx

[identity profile] lsketch42.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Yep, I think I can see a pattern here. :D"

lol. You know...as much as Bondage!Sam should have saved the episodes, nope. Still have to put em on the list. Now Bondage!Dean=automatic free pass.

"I actually put my brain on hold for Monster Movie."

As did I for 'Jump The Shark.' No wait...that episode never happened. Which is why it wasn't on my list. Yup. Never happened. *sticks fingers in her ears and whistles*

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
HA!

*sticks fingers in her ears and whistles*

Actually I find myself doing that quite a few times for some episodes.... :D

*hugs show* I do love you really.....

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Free to be You and Me (*eek*, I know - but. I just couldn't. Though I did ADORE the opening montage - that goes in my Top 3 Moments!) I didn't like the whole bit where Dean tried to get Cas laid. It just seemed all very contrived and stereotyped and yeah... but the rest was okay.

Vid, my pretty!! \o/

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes! That definitely contributed to my overall disappointment in the ep - that along with a lot else (no least the reveal at the end... I just. *sigh* didn't want that to be).

Oh I am vidding!! :).... I'm loving this and you know, it's not a song I would have ever considered vidding to. I've decided I need to use the zoom a bit in this.... goes back to it!

xx

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that too, the whole good vs evil continues...brother against brother. That did kinda peeve me. At least the angels are also asshats, so their both in the same boat, neither of them wanting to be vessels. Hopefully that shizz can bring them together. I'm just waiting to see where it goes. I'm less invested in the show than I've ever been. The stories are interesting still, just...not anything as engaging emotionally as they were for me in say S2. It's all angst angst angst, surprise comedy episode, angst... ya know?

Yeah, I'm thinking cookie cutter is my pal on this song and possibly some fun with text. Not one I'd normally have vidded either. \o/

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully that shizz can bring them together.

The thing I am hoping for more than anything is that Sam will tell Dean straight away and they will have to work together to prevent it happening to either of them. If Sam keeps it a secret though... well, that will be the last straw I think. And then if there's a bro/bro show down at the end?...... let's just not go there...

I hear Vegas user refer to Cookie Cutter often - not really sure what that is... Great term though. I'm sure I have something similar it's just not called something as interesting as that...

Ooh - fun with text.... sounds interesting. But then you actually have lyrics in your part!!! :D :D

Happy vidding...

Yeah, please pick up the phone and tell Dean, Sam!!

Course Dean is freaking pretending the world is great without Sam ...riiiight! *shakes head* We'll see.

Cookie cutter is just, it has shapes like circles and ovals and squares and you can cut out the shape and see the clip below around it. But then it also lets you blur the edges so it's good for all sorts of things then. :)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I see. I have something called Mask Shape - but that just puts a shape over the image...hmmm.... I'll have to go hunting for one like that.... you've got me curious now....

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow. That looks like fun. I have no idea where that (or something like that) would be in FCE. I think I might go and pop a question on the mac vidding community - because that looks like it would be fun to play with.

*koff* I'm finished my bit... well, just tweaking it. Um... I think I'll PM you as I have a few questions.

Okay, I'll be here... procrastinating on my application writing. :P

coo-ee! Wonder if you're still vidding (?) or are the clan home?

I enjoyed reading through the comments, and realise how ridiculously, emotionally co-dependant (yes!) I am on this show. Because I seem to accept every little thing it offers, and even when my mind is going "No,no. I don't think so, no."... my heart glosses it over. Sheee!

Case in point - Castiel / whorehouse but wasn't Uriel=jugless! ummmm???? lalalala- heart glossing over again. And if it's his last night on earth, give Dean back his amulet!

Hey, I thought you were in Qld. My wrong! So, Margaret River wines close by, eh? ;)

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
*waves* Yes, the clan are home, so vidding is on hold... :) but I got a heap done, so I'm happy about that AND I've just taken the dog for a walk, so I don't feel so bad about missing the sun!

Oh and Margaret River is one of my favourite places to visit..... :)

Because I seem to accept every little thing it offers, and even when my mind is going "No,no. I don't think so, no."... my heart glosses it over.

You know, I am too mostly... I'm pretty accepting of anything they throw at me, but.... every now and then I get annoyed for things like massive plot holes (you know, more massive than usual!) and characterisation issues ..... but I usually try to suspend my disbelief and just enjoy my beautiful boys.... except when they are fighting!! :(

And yes - Castiel having Dean's amulet is just... no... not happy Jan!

Still... I'm looking forward to the next episode and I won't say it can only be uphill from here because I made the mistake of saying that last week.... *meep*

Wow, it's very interesting how different people see/rate episodes! Tall Tales and Cris Angel is a Douchebag, for example, are definitely in my Top10, but apparently other people had quite the opposite reaction to them. I did really enjoy Hollywood Babylon as well, do mind telling a bit more about why you didn't?

And now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure I actually have a Bottom 3 list of episodes, it's more a Bottom 3 of moments. There were some episodes I didn't like too much because they felt rather unimaginative or a little boring to me on the whole (Magnificent Seven, Red Sky at Morning), but I don't mind those because, hey, no one expects a tv show to be perfect all the time, right?

BUT. There were definitely moments I could have very well done without:

The brothel scene (and the one leading up to it) in Free to be You an Me
Castiel calling Raphael his little bitch in Free to be You an Me
everytime someone calls Castiel Cas

I'm still fighting with myself over the crumbling of the fourth wall in The Monster at the End of this Book. I want to be cool about it and find it funny, but no luck so far :)

Generally, there were a lot more cringeworthy moments in season 4 (and now 5 as well) than seasons 1 to 3. I do think that's at least partly because I watched the first three season in one go over the course of three weeks; if I didn't like an episode too much, I just popped in the next one and quickly forgot about that. Now, there's a lot more time to think about each episode, and rewatch it right away, which does make it a different experience.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey there,

It's interesting isn't it? Everybody has such different views on episodes and I kinda love that and respect it completely.

For me Hollywood Babylon just annoyed me because of the way it referenced itself in the industry. Umm.... I'm not sure I can put it into words but when they mentioned Gilmore Girls it just irked me. I wasn't ready for the forth wall to come down so early in the series. I also just didn't buy the story... I enjoyed the performances (as I always do), but yeah. It just grated on me big time.

Just like the other 2 I mentioned. There are certainly moments and episodes I wasn't too fond of, but really only those episode left me cross.

everytime someone calls Castiel Cas
YES! Oh yes. Especially as Dean called him Cas really early on. I would love to have seen that develop over time as they have become more familiar... but yeah. I agree. It's something I've never liked.

And there are probably a lot more bottom "moments" then overall episodes...

But as I said. So many more would make my top episodes...:D I do love my show (even though it breaks me sometimes) and yes, not every episode can hit the mark.

Hey darlin'! :)

It's the next day now and it's raining!!(again) I might be able to squeeze in some vidding time - depends what the fam are up to today. ;)

Oh yes. HB, not a good place to start.

Free to Be did have some nice moments - that opening montage was just brilliant, but the whole Dean and Cas thing seemed forced (and to me there was a bit of fan servicing going on) and yeah, poor Sammy. I actually liked his performance a lot, but man. Give him a break - how much can the poor man take (and us for that matter). Also the reveal just made me so, so cross. I suppose I just didn't want it to go down that path... I'm kinda over the bro v bro senario.

Now go and vid! I wanna see something from you ASAP!

I did manage to finish my section of the Great Vidding Experiment yesterday. \o/ This is my first time participating and it was so much fun. No least because it's not a song I would have ever done, so it was a great challenge.

I have another completed but I can't post it for a couple of weeks! And I did post one a couple of days ago....:) But I'm on to my next one.... of course. It is an illness.....

*hugs ya* Hope things are good for you sweets.

That's a thought, I know I've written about what I considered the best episodes from seasons past but I never tried to compile a bottom five episodes, for example. Though this episode definitely had one of the bottom five scenes ever for sure.

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
For some reason I am finding it difficult to settle on my TOP episodes. Though I know one of them (and has been for a long time) is What is and What Should Never Be.

And yes that scene I think will go down in SPN history as one of the worse ever....

I'd be curious to see your bottom ones.... :)
