Vid notes:

Even though I have had limited vidding time it doesn't feel right if I'm not tinkering with something. I've had this song sitting in my "possibilities" folder for a long time now. I wanted to make some sort of apocalyptic vid and it wasn't until the episode "The End" aired that I was able to get the footage I wanted.

Therefore this vid is somewhat self indulgent. I adored the way they filmed the shooting down of the zombies (more cinematic than telematic), so I just had to play with it. Then of course I had to indulge myself with these lyrics:

Of course, I know SPN won't end this way (mainly because they have already given this to us), but I do love the idea that this is how it is supposed to end - no matter what they do. And yes, I can't wait to see what they do do to escape this outcome...

Just stunning, loved the way you cut the shooting of the zombies, but especially loved the matching of the shots from one brother to the other as they turn - love that shit! Very chilling and apocalyptic song which really suited the mood, - hard to think it ever could come to this.

Oh yes indeed. I tweaked this far too many times and then I was kinda over it. I'm fairly happy with it, but I think it could have done with a little more work... but... I want to move on to other things.

And thanks for your feedback hun. I had a really good play with some matting and overlaying clips etc. and even though I didn't end up using it, I learned a lot about what can be done. Though it doesn't come instinctively to me yet. Maybe one day.

ooooo Sarah, this was just chilling!! AWESOME!! Loved the strobing effect and coloring on the helicopter to the sound of the song. Just gorgeous!! The beginning had such an Apocalypse Now feel. The lyrical interps were spot on. Loved the comparitive clips of Dean and Sam turning around at .46-.48 and OMG!!! "I'll never look into your eyes... again" and Sam/Lucifer's vo... GAH!!! *faint* Just chillingly brilliant hun!!

That is so incredibly sad. Nice use of some clips that haven't been used a lot (yet). The coloring and--I think--lensing maybe? of that warlike scene was so unusual for SPN, and you used it well here to give the feeling of almost another story entirely.

I hope Show doesn't go this way. I'm afraid it might. Beautiful sad vid.

In fact, I really struggled to reconcile the beginning of the vid to the end of it, because, yes - it could be a different story to the one in the show. I was somewhat aware of that when I was making the vid because I only wanted to give a kind of "backdrop" to the future And kind of juxtapose the physical battles in the beginning with the boys emotional battle at the end.

Okay, Ash, now you've made me think. What if The End is actually Sam and Dean both saying yes, and then coming the surface enough to make Lucifer & Michael reconcile? Talk about brotherly hugs....

OMG! I love this idea! We can have the brother angels bonding, reconciling and hugging (lots of hugging!) and Sam and Dean would be reconciled and they would have do to lots of hugging and then they all live happily ever after!

So Sam and Dean saying yes might not be a bad thing after all..?! (damn it! I think I might want it to happen this way now!)

Great work, honey! This song has a METRIC TON of personal history with me, so it's near impossible for me to distance myself enough from it to get into a fannish frame of mind, but I can still see you've done a wonderful job with how it plays in Show. OH BOYS.

You have no ida how much I wanted a vid set to this song. OMG! *flails* It's the song I associate with the episode and you made a wonderful use of the lyrics. Your editing is wonderful: from the brutality of the first part, to the matching shots between Dean and Sam, down to the last, heartbreaking shot of Lucifer killing Dean.

This was so tragic! I think you chose some great scenes to edit into the lyrics. I especially loved the part about 'beautiful friend' which intersects Lucifer and Sam - really hit me hard. I also like that you added Castiel in there because while some people found him funny, I just found him heartbreaking in that episode. All of this: simply brilliant *claps*

spn_the_end, and my only (tiny) criticism is that it's not longer. ;)

"The End" is my favourite song by The Doors, is one of my favourite songs period, and ever since I saw 5.04 it's been running on loop in my head. If I had any talent for/knowledge of vidding, I would have tried my hand at it, and I'm really, really happy that someone else was thinking along the same lines.

The scene in which the army types mow down the infected victims was gorgeous and cinematic and very reminiscent of "Apocalypse Now," (which is another part of my obsession with the song), and you really captured the atmosphere. Especially loved the first few seconds of this vid, focussing in on the helicopter.

I really glad this worked for you - the whole idea behind that opening sequence was as a shout out to Apocalypse Now. That opening scene might be one of my all time fav of SPN (Cinematically), so I was eager to play with it.
