My interest in Twitter has been renewed for some not so strange reason *g*

Jared has a Twitter (which has been confirmed).

I therefore had to fire up my Twitter account, brush off the cobwebs and take a look. (did I get a Twitter app for my iPad?! just maybe../o\)



But when I read his tweets I felt like I was eavesdropping or something. They read more like a text messages that I had accidentily come across. It was sorta freaky. But also kinda thrilling. Like... this guy is now accessible.

Personally I struggle to understand why a person like Jared would need to tweet... I can only think it's to make himself accessible to his fans? Which..ok, that's cool and nice of him but.. yeah. I don't know. Affirmation that he's loved? Maybe just for fun? Because Misha and Jim have one? Because he's Jared probably. *hearts him*

But it's still kinda weird reading Jim Beaver warning Jared not to let it "eat your life". And then Jared telling us that he's ROCKING in Nashville. Is that just to make us jealous?! OK! I'm JEALOUS honey! I'd love to be there too!

I am also thinking this might be like a new toy for him. :) I gotta say that him having a pic of Jensen as his profile pic is FABULOUS! Those boys... who needs a tin hat. *hearts* them!

Oh Jared. I have this massively HUGE soft spot for you. PLEASE come to Sydney next year. I want to stare all doughy eyed at you. <33


Story and podfic rec

Time to squee about something else... (can you tell it's a 3 day weekend for me?! I'm a bit bouncy....)

I have just finished listening to the most AMAZING story. HO. MY. GOD!

It's In Harm's Way" by gatorgrrrl It's read by weimar27. (Jared/Jensen, AU, NC17, spy thriller, romance).

(The links are to the podcast, which have links to the fic. This is a 2009 Big Bang fic but it has only recently been made into a podfic).

See. Here's the thing. It's 85,000 words. There's no way I would have the time to sit and read that many words, so for someone to take the time to read this and then edit it is WONDERFUL! It meant I got to enjoy a story I would never have found otherwise. As with all podfics I listen to.

It had me engrossed the entire time. In fact... I never EVER just stand and listen to a podfic. I listen while I'm doing something like driving, exercising etc. But the last 30 minutes had me so enthralled (not to mention ::koff:: choked up..) I just stood in the living room hanging on every single word.

The actual podcast is pretty good also. Some of the sound editing threw me at times, (a little uneven) but weimar27 has an engaging quality that I found myself falling into.

If you're not into listening to stories then I certainly recommend reading the story. It's well structured and the end... ack! Not saying.

I can only speculate as to Jared's intentions in joining twitter, but maybe given his lifestyle (long work hours away from home in another country), it may be similar to what i like it for - sort of a group IM or SMS. I love that I do get more of a sense of what's going on in the lives of my interstate/OS friends. It acts a texture to our interactions, the inclusion of those in-the-moment joys, frustrations or whatever, that we miss out on in emails etc.

Or, you know, he just wants to torture Misha.

Hee! I really hope it's to torture Misha! I think the interactions between him and whoever he tweets with will be very entertaining.

And yes. I think because personally I have never really been able to "get with it" I can't understand it's value. Same with Facebook. But I know it's a great way to communicate so I appreciate that side of it.

Maybe I just gotta get with it.. ;)

Oh yes. There's a vid over here that shows that it was Jensen's idea, at 08:40. He tells Jared to take his picture and make it the Twitter avatar and Jared just goes with it! The line between real life and fanfic is blurring...

Thanks for the time stamp. I started watching and I get so easily squicked at the con stuff... /o\ Those boys really hold their own though...

But that bit was gorgeous. I noticed a fic was posted about Jared tweeting and Jensen being jealous. I haven't read it yet but.... YES! RL and fanfic crossing over.

Jared in Nashville. I was 45 minutes away from him just yesterday. Obviously I wasn't aware of the fact that he was 45 minutes away. If I had known? Yeah, probably nothing would've happened anyway. Where did my passion go? Probably went with not knowing Jared was going to be in town this weekend, ugh! Don't get me wrong. I love me some Jared. I even love the show more. I love being in the fandom. Lurking... I got lazy, is what. I need to be punished. Think I'll head over to our community and read me some hurt!Jared/Sam stories... After heading over to my Twitter and dust off my account to follow the yellow brick road@jarpad.

I gotta say I'm not really a chasing kinda fangirl... but I do have this desire to see the boys together on stage. I see all this footage (mostly between the hands over my eyes) and I wonder how awesome it would be to see them live. But then there's all those fans... /o\(which is ridiculously hypocritical because I'm one..) but it puts me off slightly..

Somebody posted a link to his twitter account yesterday and I peeked. But I agree, it feels weired and so far not that interesting. But then I'm not actually on twitter and mostly can't see the point of it (unless you're Mischa tweeting during SPN episodes), so colour me biased.

I don't think that's necessarily hypocritical. The fan base shows a huge variation in base line sanity levels, with a tendency to sanity being inversely proportional to the distance between fan and object of fanish admiration. Depending on where you are on the spectrum, certain aspects of cons can be a bit squick inducing...

I actually don't know much about how it works either. I've figured out how to see his tweets and those of people I am following. But yeah... it's all a bit weird to me.

And wow, that story. Not only is it HUGE (my god, how does a writer keep up with all that?!?) but it's so engrossing.

Ack! New big bang soon. That's when I really noticed how little time I have for reading...

Can't wait to see what comes up though.

Ah yes... see, I am one who doesn't see the point of it either. But then, I think that with Tumblr and Facebook too. So I figure I'm just not "with it".

There's nothing like a good long story that also has a good long podfic with it :D At the moment I'm just finishing a sequel to a 2009 Big Bang and am just always so happy when I can hit a nice long story.

This might be ebough to get me opening a twitter account so I can follow both him and Misha. (Does Jensen have one too? I'm totally clueless.) Because I've never really had any interest in the damn thing but this... looks like it might be fun!

Then again, I'm one of the few people left on the planet deliberately without a facebook so I might never figure twitter out either... :p

There's a comm I've just discovered called [Bad username or site: http://all-spn.livejournal.com/ @ livejournal.com]all_spn" and they have been posting his twitters. He's posted a lot of pics lately. So if you don't want to open a twitter you could always just look on there. :)

I also one of the few deliberately without facebook. I'm much better at chatting to complete strangers than people I know. :)

I don't know what it is about strangers and ease of talking, but I know I'm far more sociable here on LJ than in the outside world with co-workers and friends. Maybe it's because here everyone knows your kinks and still loves you for it. :P

I think of it as such. I mean... It's not really the main focus - it's more the romance, but he's the one put in harm's way so I love the constant threat hanging over his head. And he is hurt in it - but I can't say to much for fear of giving it away. Honestly, the way the story climax's had me on the edge of my seat. Jensen is awesome also.

The recording is not as smooth as many podfics I've listen to, but it's ok. The story is strong enough to keep you engaged. Well, it did me. Perfect for a long drive. I hope you enjoy it.
