Season 8's accommodation is significant because it is the season that introduced the Men of Letters bunker (episode 8.13, Everybody Hates Hitler). It grounded the boys and gave the show its second longest permanent set (second to Bobby's house). Thankfully there are still lots of awesome motel sets to enjoy. :) ( Supernatural Season 8 Motels Part One )

Also, I posted some S8 Sam hair gifs which resulted in some very serious meta on how Sam's hair represents his state of being here at supergifs Yep. It's very deep. And short.

maenad's has written an excellent and fascinating meta on why Taxi Driver missed it's mark. Or rather, the difference between what makes a strong episode and a weak one. She doesn't bad mouth for the sake of doing so or rant about it being horrible - instead she looks at it critically and examines how the writing let down an idea.

While I'm here I do want to say that I think it's ok to rant and complain about the show. It doesn't mean we love it any less because we can see its faults. We love and connect to it in a way that's really hard to explain to anyone who doesn't. That's why we get upset when it doesn't meet our expectations or desires - or lets us down with poor writing or characterisations. Sometimes we need to get stuff off our chests and try and make sense of what they're doing (or not doing). I think it helps get past the problems and remember what it is we love about it. I'm pretty sure I'm in for the long haul (unless they permanently kill off one of the brothers or have them working separately all the time) so chatting and working it all out will help me make it through.

It feels like ages since I've posted anything SPN related and I'm having withdrawals. Here's a mix bag of stuff!

Let's start with the CW promo for their up coming show returns: (non spoilery for SPN - not sure about all the others but I think it's all past footage).



It's worth it for the the last 2 seconds. ;) (and for the Arrow bits...)

I like the upbeat nature of this promo and even though SPN doesn't feature much the bits they do feature give me hope. I know this isn't made by Carver & co but at least the promoters get what it is about SPN that makes us love it.

I look forward to Show's return with both excitement and (massive) trepidation.

My copy of The Essential Supernatural book arrived today and WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! It's super awesome! There are pull out maps and stickers and postcards and awesome pictures and EVERYTHING!! LOVES!

On the RL front a spent a few days by the beach with a group of friends over New Years and it was awesome. I haven't done something like that in years. And I'm off to Sydney (again! \o/) next week. Aaaahhhh holidays. How much I love you.

In my last post I didn't say what it exactly was that made me so upset watching that last episode.

It's the day after. I'm still sniffly but I feel a little more clear headed and heading toward being at peace with understanding why the show may no longer be for me (she says, knowing that it's probably impossible to ever stop watching). This is mostly me working it through.

I thought last night that my fandom life might be over actually, hence my sob-fest. A tad melodramatic of course because I could never just leave (yet, anyway). I am sure I will use some sort of fannish therapy to see me through until, not only the next episode, but also until the end of this season probably.

Comments are turned off because this is really just so I could get that off my chest and to try and make sense of it for myself. I am of course very interested in hearing what you guys have to say. *hugs* I'm already having an interesting discussion about it here. The chatting does certainly help. I'm just so so sorry I'm so negative about it. I seriously don't want to be. It's not usually my style.

That was fun! Thank you for the awesome discussion on THAT scene in 8.06. It was SO heartening to have such a civil and intelligent chat. You guys are crazy smart! I love that Show is still able to generate such passion (hee... and yeah, I know it stirs up grumbles also but that's cool. When hasn't it?)

If you haven't checked out galwithglasses fabulously detailed visual meta post then RUN! I'm not sure what excites me more - that fans take the time to analyze all the detail and thought that the director and production team put into each episode or the fact that the director and production team ACTUALLY PUT ALL THIS DETAIL AND THOUGHT INTO EACH EPISODE! Woot! \o/

Also. Welcome to new friends. :)) The most important thing you need to know about me is that I like to remain spoiler free. I'm not too worried about ep titles (like I used to be) but returning characters and issues that come up in promos are out of bounds for me. Just so ya know. ;)

Also. I adore both boys equally. I'm a hurt!Sam fan, but that doesn't mean I have less love for Dean. :)

How awesome is it that there's another ep tomorrow!?! Winchester Wednesday works for me! (though it's through-the-middle-of-the-day-Thursday-for-me...;D)

(totally off topic, but I've started watching Haven and I'm really liking it, Arrow is fun in a totally escapist kind of way and...GO SAMANTHA in Aus X-factor! You can do it!)

It rather amuses me that Jared was placed here. I'm sure it's no accident.
