8.02 picspam: Subtle but deliberate.
Oct. 12th, 2012 08:16 pmI think exploring the visual story of an episode helps me come to grips with it a little more. I'm probably stretching some of the suggestions behind why a certain shot has been used but *shrugs* it's just for fun.

Various observations on 7.14
Feb. 12th, 2012 04:22 pmAs much as this episode was a filler and full of sparkly moments, I think we can extract some thinky... :D
( I gotta start with that hotel room... )

If you haven't read Darry Jasper's How Supernatural Uses Death So Well (posted on Sciencefiction.com) then I recommend you do so. It's an excellent account of how Supernatural uses death. It also provides a great summing up of the deaths so far on the show.
( Which gives me the chance to say this..... Spoilers to 7.10 )
Oooh Show. You do bring out the thinky. (that's what happens when you go on hiatus and I'm on holiday!).
NOT LONG NOW!! \o/
**removing the preview button is not cool LJ! :( Other things have just changed I've just noticed too. :((( glitch it would seem *phew*

A Few of My Favourite Things - Part One
Dec. 20th, 2011 10:32 amTo keep me and my fandom brain occupied over the next few days, I will be posting some of my favourite (and not so favourite) things about my show from the past 6 seasons (with sneak appearances from S7).
They will mostly take a "Top Five" format. Except for this one. I want to start with my favourite shots and there are far too many to restrict myself to only five. (I also want to stretch my picspamming skills...;) )
( My Favourite Shots. Imagine heavy )

Somewhat delayed. I ran out of time last night. Also, there's was stuff I wanted (needed!) to say.

A question...

A while ago
bythedamned and I posted figures and meta on deaths of males and females on Supernatural. It generated some healthy discussion and some interesting questions.
One thing that came up a few times, was that how many men or women died isn't as important as HOW they died.
The question is: What is critical or important about the way the characters die? My assumption is that male characters die differently to female characters and therefore there's an imbalance, or maybe there's bias toward one sex over the other (?). My further assumption is that women's deaths are more sexualised then men (deduced by the various comments made). IF this is true what is considered a "sexualised" death? What they are wearing when they die? Their position when they die? Who kills them? Does penetration with a knife symbolise sexual penetration? etc.
Deep I know (and damned heavy! sorry about that..), but I am genuinely curious. Maybe there's meta out there already on this? If not.... ;)
(if anyone looked at the past dozen posts of mine they'd swear I was ADD or something.../o\)
