I'm in the mood to rec some stuff so....



Fics

Let's start with spn_j2_bigbang. Sadly, I just haven't had the time to read (nearly!) as much as I'd like.

Story: Flowers on a Razor Wire by autumn_lilacs and jaimeykay
Why: I love a mystery and this kept me intrigued until the very end. You know something's not quite right but can never quite put your finger on it. There's adventure, wee!chesers, hurt!boys and an interesting ending. Don't spoil yourself for that btw. An entertaining read.

Story: Under a Vast Sky by harrigan
Why: Epic, beautiful and intelligent story telling. I love the way this fic captures the World War II experience. It's huge in its scope and yet intimate in its examination of the characters' stories. It left an impression on me and gave me greater understanding of the personal loss during that period. It's gen J2, which I think is pretty rare.

Vid: Hell Memories by greyowl88
Why: This is a vid drabble. A vidlet that structures itself around a quote from the Show. (a challenge running at Expanding the Verse"). I love the use of music, sound effects and voice over. And of course the use of screen caps rather than live footage (that greyowl88 has mastered beautifully). It's a Dean vid. It's short but packs an enormous emotional punch.

Vid: Everybody Hurts by kahesha
Why: This vid really captures the issue of Dean and his drinking. It's the perfect song for Dean - completely heartbreaking. A fabulous Dean character study with great editing.

Vid: Dreams of the Believers by secretlytodream
Why:Wow!! (Loki's vids always have that effect on me..). This is an interesting take on Sam's time in hell. Not something I ever considered. As usual the editing completely blew me away. I just. Damn she's good! (::koff:: there's also some *guh* hurt!Sammy clips. What? You know me...*g*)

Vid: Beyond the Imperfections by turquoisetumult
Why: If you watched any of the above vids you'll mostly definitely need a pick me up. This is a feel good, bromantic picvid. (I'm really impressed by what can be achieved with screen caps only). It really captures those wonderful moments between the boys. And because it's done with screencaps it's doesn't feel like overused footage.

I don't see comm recs often. I think there needs to be more of them. I found this comm (can't even remember how!) and I love it..

Comm: spn_ontheset
Why: I love behind-the-scenes stuff. Love it. So seeing a behind-the-scenes pic each day puts me in my happy place. So many pics I've never seen before. \o/


I wanted to rec some podfics but I've run out of steam. I might save those for another post. I've been listening to lots. I had to give up on a couple recently because the stories just weren't doing anything. grrrrr (yep.. that's just me because I'm dreadfully impatient), but I've also listened to some goodies.



Hope you all are doing well. I on holiday in a week so I'm hoping to get some more reading done. *g*
