I fucking LOVED that! It was intense and epic and so damn satisfying. There was some awesome brother stuff (god Dean watching "Sam" suffering and that conversation at the end), awesome Dean angst (there's lots to be said here, but I'm too tired atm - but wow, deep stuff), awesome kickass Sam (I love you Sam. Just so you know), and I'm even gonna say awesome Cas stuff (really love this version of Cas. One of my favourite moments was his look of utter despair when watching Sam and Dean at the end. He feels so much for them both...). So thrilled to see Tahmoh back as Gadreel. Crowley and Abaddon facing off was cool (though how did Crowley disappear? Can demons do that?).

Gadreel had his chance to be "good" (and I really thought they were heading down that path), but he blew it and he and Metatron are clearly the big (big) bads this season.

I'm sure there were holes and problems and issues etc. etc. but at the moment I'm just so happy to have Sam free of Gad. I loved that it was messy (seriously?! Sam had an angel AND demon inside him.?! He's one hell of a vessel!), and I actually loved where they ended it - rather mysterious with Sam's "that's not the problem"....

Very brief because I've been up all night but holyyyy shit I loved it. Loved the Sam and Dean moments, loved the Dean and Cas moments, loved all three of them together there at the end, love that Sam and Cas are apparently - finally - going to have some bonding time, loved Crowley and Abaddon... just, ugh, yes. So much absolute awesomeness.

This episode is definitely worth waiting for. I got a little of everything I wanted to see. Also I'm very very pleased with Cas's part. To be honest, I had a problem with him coming from nowhere and jolting the plot out of focus or harmony in the past. But I do like Cas's possibilities, and now we actually see Cas caring for Sam this much (coming up to Sam when Dean leaves as if providing comfort). Now I'm all for fics exploring their time together while Dean's gone. Healing, talking, angst.
So I guess I'm quite with you there :)

Sam and Dean (and Jared and Jensen) totally blew me away. Dean's scene in the library, staring at the spot where Kevin died? Sam recalling everything that Gadreel had done while in his body, and then the dream fight? WOW.

This was the first time I've actually liked Castiel in ages. He was oddly . . . human. This Cas, I can live with. (But still don't trust 100%. Let's hope he doesn't pull the usual card and betray them again.)

IDK, but I'm not surprised. I'm holding to the "Crowley is a weird hybrid something until proven otherwise. His eyes don't change color. His smoke is RED. A slightly different animal, is our Crowley. :)

Totally with you on the Gadreel issue too. I was hoping that the meeting with Abner would turn him around, but . . . no. Good guys don't kill their close friends because someone they pretty much just met tells them to.

I wouldn't say I loved it, but it definitely was a good episode. Loved kickass!Sam and the face-off between Abbaddon and Crowley (and yes, I think Crowley could always do that - I think he did it before). I like this version of Cas so far. It's not as annoying as all the other versions we've seen so far. I'm glad we got Sam back. The end was messy but I liked it even though it broke my heart. I did like that Cas stayed with Sam. I'm kinda looking forward to more of their interaction.

I wasn't as enthusiastic as you seem, but there were definitely some good moments in this episode!

I think Crowley has always been able to teleport(?) Didn't he do so the first time we saw him when he was making that deal with the big business guy (Cas was spying on him)? It reminds me of how the demons on Charmed could 'blink' (I think it was called?) to vanish.

I absolutely loved the episode and I have to say I agree with you. My one moment of disappointment as you mentioned it as well, was when Gabreel has his change to "be good". I found myself really hoping that he wouldn't kill Abner, and decide that Metatron is wrong, but he didn't *sigh*

Considering how intensely I've disliked the plot arc of this season...this was much, much better than expected. In fact, it's all I could have hoped for in terms of rescuing Sam (including him saving himself), and I approved of the way it ended. At least for now. :)

Yes yes. :D They all have some great moments. And I am really really hope we get some Sam and Cas moments too. And did I imagine it or was Cas's coat a little darker than the last one? I approve either way. :)

Hiatus WAS too long!! So great to be watching and chatting about it once again. Glad you enjoyed it too. Can't wait to find out what Sam was referring too.

And any sort of separation is hard - but I also love it because it means we'll see them coming together also. Maybe with a new understanding about each other.

Looks like Dean's in a pretty bad head space (don't blame him!) and Sam will be pretty confused I should imagine.

*nods enthusiastically* I used to think I liked it best when Cas's stories were apart from the boys, but now I realise that I enjoy it much more when he's part of their action (and a kickass, caring part of the action). I loved him coming up to Sam (when Sam returns from kicking out Gad) and asking if he's ok. Poor Dean was so messed up that Cas seemed to step in help out.. And he did say he was going to have to finish healing Sam didn't he? I hope we get to see some of those moments. :)

I liked but didn't love. Again, just not getting the angel vibe, but I very much liked the brother scenes, as well as Cas and Crowley. As always, I'm hoping we don't have an extended 'boys apart' arc. Been there, done that, although at least, they're not furious with each other with this one.

Metatron is one of the big bads, but there's still a chance that Gadreel will find redemption.

There's also this from Jeremy Carver...

"The character of Gadreel, it's something that we will be peeling back as the time comes. I think what we and the boys will find is that there's more than one answer there in discerning what Gadreel's motives are and who he really is and what he's all about. He's a very interesting character."

It sounds bad to say but I hope so! He SHOULD feel bad - he's made some very dodgy choices and they've had terrible consequences, and I'd be disappointed in him as a character if he wasn't cut up about it. That being said - he makes my heart hurt!

Yes. I agree. I really wanted to see Dean cut up over what's happened so I'm glad it's heading in this direction. I actually like that it was Dean to walk away this time and not Sam. I thought once Sam found out what Dean had done Sam might have done the storming away.

I think Dean needs to reflect on his decisions. And now he's back to wanting revenge - which he may need to reflect on too. It hurts to see Dean like this (especially when he's also made a lot of great decisions), but I love it when there's this high level of angst. Great to see Dean as a character put under the microscope. I also hope we get to see what Sam makes of it all.

Yes. This was a Cas that we saw once during the height of the Team Free Will days. I had hoped his being human would have an effect on how he would be "reborn" as an angel. I liked what I've seen so far. :))

oooh, his eyes don't change colour. Really? I've never thought to check that. And the red smoke is interesting (though isn't Abaddon's smoke red also? Dammit, now I gotta check this stuff). So maybe not even a demon? Ooooooh, that would be very cool. I do think he's changed because of the human blood though.

Yeah. Bad choice. I think Gad has got some major issues and it will be interesting to see where they take him. I'd be surprised if he's simply "bad'. He might end up turning and maybe even redeem himself. Though wow, he'll have a lot of redeeming to do.

Oh me too. We ended up feeling a lot for Dean because we got to see how cut up he's been, but (er, as usual) we didn't get to see a lot from Sam, so it's really nice that Sam will have someone to help him through this (I hope that will happen). I liked that Cas came across as concerned for Sam as he was for Dean. It was a nice mix.

Hey honey. Yeah, it's probably a tough one to watch at times (Sam getting the needles isn't exactly nice (not overly graphic, but not pleasant either), but there's some wonderful moments (angsty but words are said that I really needed to hear). I thought the resolution (so far) is holding up pretty well. I liked that Sam was strong enough to boot Gad out (of course!!!) and also strong enough to not heap it on Dean. Sam comes out quite mature actually (well, I felt he did), which I think says a lot about his strength of character. I'd love to know what you thought once you've seen it.

I didn't want Gadreel to kill his friend either - I really thought he'd found the line he wasn't prepared to cross. It looked like it was a hard decision but ultimately his goal is more important to him (I wonder if this has been designed to mirror what's happening with Dean…).

I'm really glad to hear this.:) I thought of all the possible ways this could go this was a pretty good one. Of course, it will hinge of what happens over the course of the season, but to have Sam save himself and to have Dean's character start to be really examined is pretty exciting. *fingers crossed*

Ah yes. The angel story is still very present (and will remain so for the rest of the season I figure). I prefer this more intense and Winchester focused angel story than when they make them separate though.

I can't imagine them being separated for toooo long. I'm much happier with this type of separation (not hating each other) compared to last seasons one. It seems more organic and might bring them back together even stronger. It might take some time for them to be completely on the same page again, but hopefully the journey back together will be interesting (and rewarding).

I think there is too and I think he's actually presents as a mirror for Dean (and Cas and Sam etc) as someone who'd doing something for what he thinks is the right reason.

I felt some real nastiness about him in that episode (killing his best friend is crossing some major lines), but I think it will be revealed that he has a very important agenda and maybe one that requires some major sacrifices. We'll see!

Oooh, the Carver stuff is hopeful! It's wonderful that we'll actually get an interesting angel. Angels (other than Cas and Zach) seem to be superficially represented so to have a character like this is exciting.
