Given the amount of canon mistakes (or resets) during S8 and S9 I am feeling more and more convinced that there is actually no "real" attempt at making sense of what comes out of Sam and Dean's mouths. You captured perfectly why I had to stop watching. I'm writing an AU I care about a lot, and seeing their characters shredded like this was messing me up, because it felt like NOTHING was IC. Especially no form of progress or healing or learning from experiences, for Christ's sake.
