Hee! I did see your post and I absolutely think they did miss an opportunity here to extract that info. But, as with the conversation that Dean never had with Bobby - it wasn't the focus for this episode.
Bobby had other things on his mind (and even made the comment that the world doesn't revolve around the boys) and I think Dean really just didn't want to bring it up in front of Sam at the end. Or... the boys may have been jet lagged and just weren't thinking straight. Though the boys now have his remains, so there's no reason why they couldn't use them in the future. (I think the boys kept them??? Ooooh, I'd have to go and check that).
