This fulfils my final prompt "colour" on my [livejournal.com profile] vid_the_grid table!! *throws confetti* \o/

First up - thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] smilla02 for this wonderful song and prompt. I've loved getting my teeth stuck into something meaty. And uh..thank you for your awesome feedback. <33

How on earth do I sufficiently thank my betas on this project?! To [livejournal.com profile] counteragent who has been with me from the very beginning. Listening to my ideas and checking out numerous early drafts. Thank you so much for your help, cheerleading and wonderful ideas. <33

To my long time beta and friend [livejournal.com profile] _sharvie_. I've said it before, but I'll say it again; your eye for detail is down right scary. And damn impressive. Thanks for the push to get this right honey and for your wonderful suggestions. <33

And to [livejournal.com profile] maichan808 for being my "fresh eyes" once all this was pretty much said and done. Your thoughts and comments helped immensely. Thank you sweetie.

Vid Notes

It was very early on that counteragent said to me "epic vid is epic". She was not kidding. *g* Not only in the scope of the story, but the process of putting it together was pretty epic. Not least because I decided to use external footage to help show the world that was saved. It's the first time I've used it to this extent and it certainly has been a learning curve.

I chose to use it because I feel we never really get to see "the real world" in the SPN 'verse. I not only wanted to use it to highlight that fact, but also to show a world that was oblivious to the sacrifices our boys had made.

There are a few themes running through the vid and I suppose I hope the vid speaks for itself. But, in a nutshell, it's an exploration of the various actions that not only set the apocalypse in motion but how each character's journey took them to the moment of being able to save the world.

I also wanted to show a little of who these boys are and why they do what they do. During discussions with counteragent I found it interesting to discover that the boys are all about saving families and yet in saving the world they destroyed their own. There's a little section in the vid dedicated to this side on them.

Enough blab. :D

No money made but comments are gratefully and warmly accepted. <333

Oh, wow. Wonderful vid!

I love the use of freeze frames and matched clips (esp. the one of Castiel's hand on his chest and Sam's hand on Castiel's chest). The external source material showing the mass of humanity provided a nice contrast to the intimate story of Sam-n-Dean. Also, I haven't seem many vids that treat Sam and Dean AND Castiel's story equally through 3 verses (mostly Castiel and Dean vids or Sam and Dean vids)--it was a refreshing take.

I love it and I love the external footage. It really really broadens the scope in a way the show itself doesn't really do (I'm sure because of budget). Great song, too - it's a good quick moving beat and you used it beautifully. I'm always so impressed by your work.

Thank you so much honey. Thrilled you noticed the hand on the chest bit.. <33

And you pin pointed exactly what I was wanting to show with the external footage. The world is so vast and yet we have this intimate story going on between the boys and an angel that - which is vast in its nature, but personal.

And yes - [livejournal.com profile] smilla02 requested Castiel's story as well - whihc was great to be able to include.

Thanks for your lovely comment. <33

YAY! You posted it :D

This vid truly was epic and it definitely invited several rewatches to properly digest all the levels of meaning. Excellent incorporation of outside footage. Speaking of which, I love the new clip you ended up using for the title.

AWESOME! I love it! Everything matches to the beat- but also I love the paraellels between the whole team- Each showing where they went wrong followed by where they got it right. And I really REALLY love the very end with the guys marching forward blending into the crowd seen. It both makes their little band seem like an army of three, but also shows that the world still goes on thanks to their unsung efforts. *sniff* Gorgemous!

GAAAH It's so great! I just rewatched (again).

I love the affection you show between TFW in the end section, in the midst of the apocalypse. You could have gone more of an "action" route but showing the intimacy and love was the PERFECT counterweight to the sacrifice and fighting that the other characters were doing. I don't think I mentioned that before. :D

Thank you so much. I really did want to broaden the scope of the show - I suspect budget keeps use from seeing it, though I also think they work to create this almost "other world" to the one we inhabit. But that just might be my take on it.

Thanks for your lovely comment. <33

Hee! I did... finally! :)

I kinda suspected there would be stuff in there that's not immediately digestable. I had all these little connections going on in my brain, but it's not always easily translated.

Ooh - and that opening clip...it's amazing because I always pictured something like that in the vid but I hadn't been able to find it. The Steph linked me to some footage in regards to something else and THERE IT WAS! So yeah... had to use it. I'm glad you thought it worked.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback. *heffa hugs*

Good Lord, this is stunning. I have no idea what makes a video good - have no gifts in that area whatsoever - but my heart was pounding while I was watching it, and when Dean winked at Sam, I cried.

So brilliant. You are so talented.

Oh yes... I remember after the first Cas edit that I wanted to carry the idea I intially had (finding friendship with the brothers) into the end section. I kept thinking it was Cas's bond to the boys that helped them save the world. He gave Dean the time he needed to reach Sam inside Lucifer, by torching Michael.

Ok. Too thinky...

Hee! I can't believed you re-watched it after the gazillion times you've already seen it. *smishes* <33

I really loved this idea in it (hence, in particular, the closing shot of the three melding into the larger public), not just for the show but just in general. We all take for granted every day that other people will be doing their job.

During discussions with counteragent I found it interesting to discover that the boys are all about saving families and yet in saving the world they destroyed their own.

I really like that idea in it too.

This is amazing. I especially liked how you gave the context of the wider world the show didn't often show, and how much you got Dean and Sam and Castiel as making mistakes, deeply flawed, and yet wanting to do the right thing, and doing what they had to in order to save a whole lot of people.

Gorgeous vid, I'm going to go rewatch it now.

love the very end with the guys marching forward blending into the crowd seen.

Oh, I love it too - (and I can say that because that was one of [livejournal.com profile] counteragent's suggestions *g*).

My end was always going to be about the world going on, none the wiser for their efforts and yet safe. Having them meld into the crowd helped me show (in my mind...)how they were responsible for this safety. But also, how small their "band" is in the bigger picture.

Thanks so very much for your wonderful feedback. <33

:D A vidder can't ask for much more than that honey. Not that I wanted you to cry. But yeah... that wink kinda kills me. Something so small and yet so powerful.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. <3333

I loved everything about this. I'm starting to get into vidding, so my very first reaction was, "Wow, external footage, amazing". And then I loved the way you used motion to tie all the vids together, and the way Sam and Dean were a main plot thread and Castiel had his own thread, and how you conveyed the scope of everything that happened. Great job!
