I created a Tumblr account. But. WHAT THE HECK DO I DO NOW..?!??! I'm there and... I'm already stuck. Man, I hate being a noobie. Ummm.... perhaps I can follow ppl who already have one? Maybe you could let me know yours? Is that how it works? I'm Ash48 there also. No idea if I'll actually do anything there. But I'm keen to take a look. (this really has come about because LJ has been freaking me out with the DOS attacks). Though it seems to be better in the last couple of days. Thank god! *clings* to my internet home. Stop making me panic darling LJ.

Also...thanks to everyone for their feedback and opinions on Facebook. From that I have decided that it's certainly not for me.

Most likely just coincidence because midlist authors don't get a lot of say-so in their covers. And the pictures usually come from stock photo sites like Dreamstime.com and then photoshopped together by the publisher's art department. Only the big name writers get the use of real models. By the time an author sees it, it's one of those unwritten rules that you don't want to be a difficult writer to work with so suck it up. Choose your battles, ya know?

I really don't think that's him, but it's a stong resemblance. But out of all the good looking models in the world, there's bound to be some who look a bit like him, particularly from this angle...but you need to keep hold of this, it would be sooo perferct for a Q&A at a con......

Really? They use random actors? I have no idea how they'd get away with that. Maybe they plead uncanny resemblance or something... there might be a loop hole that allows them to use actors images.

That's possible. In one case they put two well known Italian Western movie actors on the cover of some cheap wild west novel. It probably went unnoticed since those actors were mostly famous in the sixties and seventies but I certainly noticed :) (icon = one of them)

I started a Tumblr account but got bored with it quickly. It's way too fleeting for my tastes. Sort of like how I dislike FaceBook.

I did it mainly to post my vids but it quickly because bothersome.

Guess I'm too old to learn anything new. At least learn anything new that's dull and boring. :)

I get nervous about renewal (and LJ!!!) too, but none of the CW shows have officially been renewed, including VD. From what they're saying, the delay is because of the new CW president and all renewals will be announced in May.

I also hope we get notice before the season finale because I may die otherwise, but other than that... ;)

I don't even know what Tumblr is! I'm planning to put my stories on AO3 for safekeeping - backup does seem wise.

The renewal scares me because there is so much positive talk that it will happen I just worry that at the last minute it wil be no. I am just not ready to go without my show yet.

I'm glad to hear that the problems with LJ have meant a lot of ppl are turning to AO3 to archive fics for safe keeping.

Tumblr is basically pretty pictures as far as I can tell... I suppose I shal find out.. :D

Oh dear, I've just followed your link and found they've also written "In the Heat of the Bite" and "Never been Bit". Have to agree with you, sure looks like him image wise, not sure how that works, some photos of him might have been sold on by a studio for work like this? Maybe once a photo is published you have no right to it - see FaceBook! I'm sure you've already seen this, think of the two, the book cover wins...

I can't concentrate at all with this non announcement of season 7, I keep thinking it's good, it's safe as no one seems bothered and then I think well no, it's bad, just no one's saying it's been cancelled to stop the freak out! Freak out I think I shall whichever though.

The S7 announcement is a pain because everything is pointing to another season... lots of positive talk and yet... until it happens I'm nervous. I'm not ready for my show to end. Will I ever be?

With regards to S7 I wouldn't worry to much (yet). The fact that we haven't heard anything yet is not to surprising. But it means they are at least negotiating, which is a good first step. If any of the key players was definitelly dropping out or the studio had already decided they were not interested in another season it would be probably already been official. Quiet means they're talking about it, which means they all at least consider going on. Well, at least that's my reasoning...

How it works is that you 'reblog' stuff. So if you see a lurvely picture of, say, Jensen Ackles and you like it and want to put it on your Tumblr you 'reblog' the post. And in doing that, Tumblr puts on YOUR post that you reblogged it from 'this-person'. Then, for instance, if somebody sees YOUR post and wants to know where the image came from originally they can scroll down a long list of people who've reblogged it until they find the original poster and then they can view their 'dashboard'. So there's always credit, as well as a whole list of awesome people who've had the good taste to reblog it ;)

I'm about 99.99% percent sure that's how it works lol.

LOL, just yesterday I decided to actually do something with my Tumblr account. It won't be for fannish stuff though.

And Tumblr is a horrible substitute for LJ, if that was why you joined. Its user interface makes it terribly difficult to sustain conversation with more than one person. It's good for looking at photos, gifs, links, but in a much more passive way than LJ.

It does look like him at first glance but when you look longer the face is different.

If you're anxious about LJ going down you can always use DW to back up your LJ account (though right now there's just a demand on it that they've asked people to hold off until LJ stabilizes). Currently you can cross post to other LJ clones from it and also link to AO3 accounts, though I don't know if it will do so for Tumblr in the future.

I have a DW account put I don't post to it (yet). I got it so I could comment on other posts. I am still confident that LJ will not go away. But all this makes me nervous that it just might.

It's good to see ppl backing up their fics on AO3. I don't think the vid backs up are available yet. Well, not that I know of. That's what I would want to be able to do. Though YT works as a back up for me at the moment I suppose.

Yes, I think AO3 is still a few years away from vids yet but they are moving ahead with planning on artwork already so it's in process.

The last day or two has seemed better at LJ so maybe they're getting things under control.

OMG @ that book cover. It's so weird, looks almost exactly like Jensen. I remember one time when i've seen on lj the picture of a dude in a towel who was shaving in front of a mirror and looked so much like Jensen that was scary...:)) the only exceptions were that he was more fit, hairier, his lips were thinner then Jensen's, and his eyes were brown but still.
