I've had a FULL ON day, so in order to relax I have a glass of wine before me and my LJ open.

This is a mixed bag of recs, links and blab..

Let's start with...


starting with me squeeing about candle_beck

I'm pretty sure you've all discovered the awesomeness that is this talented writer but I also want to squee about her amazing podfics. She reads her own stories and I think I may well be in love with her voice. It's quite something that the timbre of her voice matches the tone and colour of her stories. If you haven't discovered the joy of listening to podfic may I suggest you take a listen to one of hers and you may well be sold on the art form.

The SPN ones are mostly Sam/Dean - though many are fairly mild. There's an honesty about her Sam/Dean fics that will have you completely sold on the idea.. Beautiful, poetic and visceral.

While I'm fangirling let me also point out the wonderful talent that is august_monsoon.

Have you seen her art?! If not you are missing out. I think my favourite might be Smoking Cas though Smoking Dean is right up there too. (I think we need a smoking Sam to complete the set *g*) She has lots of lovely works though so go check her out. *g*

And while I'm in fangirl mode I have to acknowledge the fab maichan808. We are working on a vid together at the moment and the work she's doing just makes me SQUEEEE... though I am sure we are all in constant fangirl mode with maichan. <33

As you all probably know TV Guide has announced all the fan favourite winners and OF COURSE Supernatural took away the favourite Sci Fi Show because we are so awesome at voting. \o/ GO US!! (though um..? Sci Fi? *head shake*).

The gorgeous Jensen took away the Fan Fav Male Actor (yay!) and Misha took away the "Best Non Human Character". Though... um.... really? There's such an award...? But yay Misha. Even though I'm not a huge Cas fan I am totally loving Misha. Not in any "minion" sense but I think he's an all round amazing guy. I have the utmost respect for him.

But Jared.. :((( He missed out. So. In honour of my darling and most wonderful Jared I (personally) give him "The Best Character Who Wasn't The Character You Started Out Playing" Award. (What? Soulless!Sam totally deserved an award. He rocked it! If you can come up with a better one lay it on me!! seriously do! )

I've been enjoying the JiB con footage. Particularly when Misha asks the boys a question... Hilarious. Many thanks to animotus for the pics and footage. She's a star. <333 And to greyowl88 for keeping me in the loop. ;)

So, here's the thing. I'm thinking that the bromance that is Steve and Danny might possibly rival my all time favourite cop bromance that is Starsky and Hutch. Nearly. Not quite yet because it's only been a season.. but if they continue this way I think it might just tip the scales.

The love and respect these two have for each other is right out there. And here's the (other) thing. I think this show really knows that strong fan support comes when fans can latch onto these kind of pairings, so I think they are really playing this for all it's worth. They are going to totally give it to us... they way they did with S&H. So YAY! Though I suspect this is much more played upon than S&H ever was. Maybe?

But I also love that Chin and Kono are absolutely fabulous also. They totally have the characters right with this show. I have some issues with the way some of the stories play out. It really calls for major suspension of disbelief. I'm good at doing that (hee.. I watch Supernatural after all) but because this is set in a more "realistic" cop genre I don't like to have to spend a lot of my viewing time saying "that would never happen..." Or.."the chances that Steve and Danny are walking through the mountains and happen upon a dead body..." etc.

But it's cool. I do enjoy the escapism that is H50. At least it doesn't leave my heart torn to shreds like another show I watch.

Speaking of which...... IT'S BACK SOON!!!! HOMG! How long has this damn hiatus friggin' been. I want... no... NEED show YESTERDAY! totally pumped for the last handful of episodes. I don't really care what they do as long as we have the boys together.

Ha! Painted toenails.. you know, I only painted one foot for that shot so I have been going around with one foot multi coloured and the other foot one coloured. It was only last week that someone commented on it. They asked and I said... "it's a long story".

Oh YES YES... I did see that! The lovely greyowl88 set me a clip and it's AWESOME! I loved they way Jared touches Jensen as though he is sharing this little thing he's discovered. And then they PLAY! OMG.. those boys... <333333

I howled with glee and almost didn't believe it happened when Danno did that. Gah! I like Kono and Chin, but I wouldn't mind Steve and Danno getting more screen time together. I, too, argue with the screen during the ep, but I stay for the bromance. haha

I know! I kind felt it was an "outtake" - like he was mucking around and then they decided to keep it in. I bet that's what happened. Either that or they are totally playing with our heart strings...

I think I am also in it for Steven and Danno - I wanted them to be together more in that ep - but the opening and the OMG ending with Danny totally saying he should have signed Steve's cast make up for it. (Also, I was trying to read what was on his cast thinking it might have been something Danny wrote....)

I love that about H50 it doesn't break me every time I watch it it just fills me with squeee! and leaves me happy and content.

Yes yes... no heart ache with this one. Even when there is some sadness in it like that ep. The sadness is easy to deal with. It's not gut wrenching and soul destroying...

Though having said that.. WINCHESTERS..\o/ I want you back so I can feel may heart either swell with joy or break in sorrow once again. (Or maybe it's just to ogle at the pretty..*g*)

I actually laughed when I read "set in a more 'realistic' cop genre" :D because you should be right. But there is not one thing on H5O that would EVER happen. Ever. The good thing about it is that because you have to handwave everything proceedure related, you can just get one big handwave out of the way while you rock out to the theme tune, and then watch for the awesome :D

It doesn't help when I watch with hubby who keeps making comments like "that would never happen" and I'm like "duh, I know...it's not important. Look at those two acting like they're married..."

I think you're right though... listen to the theme song and that sets the entire tone. Escape...

I will freely admit that I would find it a lot harder to handwave locale inaccuracies if I had intimate knowledge of the locale. Though honestly, a cop SHOOTING INTO A CROWDED BEACH after a RUNNING suspect is not winning any reality awards. the whole show is utterly absurd. But fun. SO MUCH FUN.

I did not know you watched H50 but I love it. Mostly for the bromance and all the pretty is just too much not to not watch.

Thank God our shows come back on this week, I didn't think it would ever get here. And then for me it's kind of sad too because SV only lacks four more episodes and then the series finale. It's time but I'm also going to miss Tom Welling gracing my TV screen each and every week.

Take a big swig for me. If I wasn't at work I'd be joining you. ;)

Yeah H50 is a little ridiculous in it's pretty and bromance. I've been sucked in. Completely. I really look forward to each episode. I find it so entertaining and it satisfies my quota of bromance. :)

See now SV isn't something I have really watched. I did watch some of it for a while and didn't mind it. Tom is completely gorgeous and then when Jensen arrived on the scene I was interested but it never really captured me completely. BUT .. I will be interested in the final episode. I imagine it will be quite something. It's run for a long time and I know it has devoted fans. I can empathize because I can imagine what it will be like when SPN finishes.

Not long now...(why does it feel like we are in constant hiatus? I feel like I am also just waiting for it to come back on...)

I watch H50 much the same way. It is fun entertainment and I love the bromance... could not believe this last episode and I'm an old time S&H fan! It doesn't compel and haunt me, not the way a certain other show does...

That being said, cannot wait until Friday's ep. Want boys back together so much, I'm a little achy inside.

Yeah... It doesn't quite beat S&H for me yet. There was something wonderfully naive about their love and friendship. Though Steve and Danny are adorable and so entertaining to watch.

And I am achy too. What is it about our Show?!! I just need to see them and analyse their every move...:)

I've been lalalalalalala *fingers in my ears* on all the H5O stuff...omg I need another show to get sucked into like I need another addictive online social network or a hole in my head but I can see I am going to have to give it a shot. *counts down days till holidays*

JIB2 has proven a very fertile fansqueeing ground - there is much to look at and be amused by. Misha's descriptions of how unbreakable Jensen is on set - "Jared grabs Jensen's balls and that man is still a rock" ROTFLMAO!!!! alone is enough to keep me endlessly entertained.

And I just LOVE candlebeck's writing...have never really liked podfics I've heard but I may just have to give these a try - could be very excellent way to pass the long plane trip to the UK coming up in like..22 days...holy shit I've got soooo much tooo doo!! *runs into bed* LOL!

Hee... Misha said that? I haven't watched Misha's panel yet. I just love that we keep hearing about Jared grabbing their balls... He's a very touchy, feely guy I imagine.

And yes! Maichan is doing the graphics and... *guh*... I get all flaily when I see them.

Podfic is is FABULOUS on long flights. Honestly - it's the best way to pass the time. Do give CB's a go. Her voice is fantastic. So easy to listen to.

I also recommend anything read by juice817. Fantastic.

I love this show so much! And YES! I agree with you. Jared totally should have won something and the award that you bestowed upon him is so fitting! :D

Those JiB Con vids! Those boys, makes me miss them even more, it should really be Friday already.

jared definitely deserves an award for Soulless!Sam, he was pitch perfect, Sam yet most definitely not, it was very unsettling indeed, even for Jensen from what I hear. It's shame Misha got cut out of the cover though, he never seems to be on the cover, no matter what we win.

There's been so much H50 squee on my f-list over the last couple of months and it's so hard not to be tnepted, especially with such epic bromances ( damn it bromances are my Achilles' heel ever since Scrubs) but so do not need another show to be sucked into. I must resist. :/

The Con stuff is hilarious. Misha is such a funny guy, he really seems to bring the entertainment value.

And it's a shame Misha missed out on the front cover, but you know the thing I was thinking? How amazing it is that for a show that started out with just the 2 boys he has managed to make his character such a huge part of the show that he was part of the photo shoot AND he got his own award. He's done a great job.

Yes... avoid H50 if you don't want a new show. It's very easy watching and it will suck you in. Especially the bromance.

I am adoring her work at the moment. Mainly because I downloaded 4 of her podfics and have loved listening to every minute of them. Her phrasing and the way she conjures up images is amazing. It's incredible how her voice matches her writing so perfectly. (sorry... still gushing...)

Hee... indeed at least I come off of H50 feeling happy. I'm wondering how I'm going to be coming off the next few eps of SPN. Heart torn to shred no doubt.
