Probably because I haven't being paying as much attention as I should.


How has cas been able to find the boys? Was there ever mention about the markings on their ribs being removed? Or did he do something the allows him to find them again. I figure I've missed something about that. ( fair cop really... Those boys can be a wee bit distracting.)

Thank you if you know. It's been bugging me. ( I'm sure I will be suitably embarrassed when someone tells me..)

I think he can pinpoint them when they call him... that is what I am going with. Not that the show really cares much about continuity. I love SN, but those little inconsistancies always bug me, starting with the whole 2 year, 4 year thing.

I figure we're not really supposed to think too hard about this bit. I just wondered if I'd actually missed some dialogue about... " I can found you now because..."

It's confusing to me too, if Crowley WAS the one that dragged Sam's body back up top, could he have removed angelic symbols as Cas removed Dean's scars? Would he have done it now we have this latest info, well actually did he drag Sam out at all is what I want to know now too... I haven't seen any evidence that Sam doesn't have the etchings, he still has the tattoo but that could have been easily replaced. There again I'm not aware of any evidence that Dean does still have them either and Castiel could have removed them easily when he healed Dean in Swan Song and Dean might not even know that Cas can keep tabs on him again.

I think there could be a lot to yet be revealed on all this.

For now, I'm just going with the theory that they pray for Castiel when they need him or else agree to be at certain places - say Bobby's - for certain periods of time and he can find them that way.

Honestly though I could have missed something too - been rather a distracting season somehow hasn't it?

Oh yes... so maybe this is yet to be explained... depending on the truth about Sam.

The praying seems to be what most ppl think. I think that Cas has only appeared when they've prayed for him. Though Balthazar found them in the French Mistake. Though he works for Cas and cas probably figured they were at Bobby's.

Hmm.... or maybe we're not supposed to think too hard about the whys and wherefores...

(hopefully there are some juicy secrets to be revealed yet..)

And re Balthazar... he works for Cas, so maybe Cas had a fix on them at Bobby's so was able to tell him where they were...

And dotfic suggested that when Cas healed Dean in 5.22 he lost the etchings... *shrugs* It seems nothing has been said in direct regard to it.

Probably just is.

I believe they've been summoning Cas, and same with Balthazar. That's different than them just being found.

Yeah.. I get the summoning for Cas and maybe because Cas knows he can tell Balthazar.. I'm going with that theory. :)

It's certainly possible that if Dean came back from hell "de-hymenated" then Sam came back from hell without his rib etchings.

I kind of like that the show doesn't answer all our questions and lets us ponder.

(I even like to think they do it on purpose *hee* even if that's not the case!)

*ponders* I think Cas has a psychic connection to them now LOL - he showed up when Rachel was with them, and in MD too. I liked it when Dean would pray to him and he showed up. Sam - he didn't really pray to him in Caged Heat, he just kinda sarcastically tricked him, and poof he was there. It's almost like Cas always has an ear out for either one of them, so psychic connection would make sense.

Also, what happened to Dean's handprint? Fail show!

The continuity with some things is lacking, definitely.

Oh the hand print! Do we know it's gone...? have we seen Dean topless AT ALL since Heaven and Hell? It might still be there...

They have always remembered the tattoo.. Sam even came back from Hell with it...

Hee... they probably DO do it on purpose. They know how much we like to mull over these things... (like the meaning of the amulet...)

I can go with Sam losing the etchings when he was returned. And maybe Dean lost his when Cas "healed" him in 5.22.

Praying to him as been the main theory. I like "all of the above". :)

I've been assuming that when Castiel healed Dean in 5x22, the rib etchings went with it, and then Sam's went away when whoever-it-was resurrected him, the way Dean's body got rebuilt after hell.

But maybe praying to Castiel directly lets Cas know exactly where they are. *jazz hands*

I think praying is definitely the key and probably how he finds them. I'm thinking the only time Cas has appeared in when they pray (unless my memory fails me) ... so yeah. I can go with that one. :)

Yep the handprint is gone - Jensen said at JIB he thinks they may have "forgotten about it" - or are letting us assume he was healed of all scars etc when he was fixed by Cas in SS. That's a shame really - I loved that handprint. We got a little glimpse of Dean's tat in the same scene - when he rolls from his side over to Lisa, you can barely see it. Not enough for me - I want a full frontal of it like Sam had *snickers* The ribs though, it would make sense to have the ribs still etched for protection, along with the tats.

About praying to Cas - in Mommy Dearest Dean didn't really pray to Cas - he was talking about him "not living in his ass" LOL, and then he appeared. (loved that scene - so funny). It's just another mystery we may never know the answer to.

Oh man, I didn't realise that. I had forgotten about that hand print until it was mentioned here.

That's the problem with them introducing stuff like that.. they have to remember it for future episodes. Interesting that they are remembering that tats though. (as they should!.*g*)

And yeah.. Cas was just mentioned. So, ok. Looks like I didn't actually miss anything, it looks like it's never been mentioned.

Sometimes it's these little things I wish they'd mention. But I suppose they know we will and "fix" it some how.
