Vid Notes

I first heard the song when deirdre_c posted it to her journal. The vid was an amazing animation. The song really grabbed me and I filed it away in the "must vid one day" folder. Initially I thought it would be wincest but as I started playing with it Dean grabbed hold and it became his song.

Every time I post a vid I want to indulge myself and write down my thought process for it. Which would be completely boring. So I will refrain. Instead, just briefly: It's season 6 Dean. It's not his whole story. I wanted to include Cas in here somewhere but it just wasn't working so I've focused on Dean's loss of Sam and the journey to getting his soul back. But it's more about Dean's tenacity and the way he keeps going, no matter how madly the world spins for him.

I also wanted a happy ending - or at least a feel good ending because I wanted to show that Dean made the right decision in going after Sam's soul. Dean endured a lot of losses during S6. He did, at least, gain Sam.

No money made but comments are gratefully accepted. :)

I think you captured Dean really well. What get's me angrier than anything is when during this time Dean portray Dean as happy. I mean he thought his brother was locked up for all eternity in the pit he was anything but happy but Dean always manages to roll with the punches and continue on even if his heart is breaking inside.

Yeah.. it was pretty tough to watch Dean in a domestic life after Sam's death. I never felt like he was exactly happy as such. he was certainly troubled - which was how I was trying to show him in the beginning of the vid.

What an aptly named band. *sniffle* Yes, this. I'm with you Dean made the right decision, and this was the Dean I saw in S6, his distress at losing Sam and then losing Sam in a different way, and all he did to try to get him back.

Dean had it really rough in S6 (well... when doesn't he have it rough?) but he somehow manages to pull through. I know the decision to get Sam's soul was touch for him but I felt he knew he did the right thing. Even when Sam was suffering as a result.

I'd like to have been able to show more of his story, but I think that will take another song.

Great song choice which matches S6 Dean pretty well. Awesome job with matching clips and pacing with the tune. I think there's something about "still" in the lyrics and you freeze it there. It's still hard to watch Dean get vamped and Sam's face during. Thanks for the upbeat tic at the end.

Hi. Thank you so much. And yes. There was just something about playing with that stillness that I wanted to try. Initially I pictured a still Dean with imagines moving around him but it became too messy.

And the scene when Dean gets vamped is, for me, the hardest thing to watched all season. Possibly all series.

Honestly, I don't watch many SPN vids anymore, because there are just too many that are very similar, but you ALWAYS manage to bring something fresh to the table. This one is just adorable, and such a good primer for 23 episodes of season 7!

OK...where do I start?
You managed to show "Dean's madly spinning world" in such a delicate, tender and beautiful way that it did leave me speechless (as I mentioned on YT).
I very much love the colouring. It embraces the vid, enhances the feelings radiating off of it.
Moments that caught my eye: 0:53 with Dean sliding into bed. It took a moment to find out that it has to do with him moving in line with the music. I'm sure you adjusted the scene until it was perfect.. ;)
I love the scene of desorianted Dean (1:03/1:05) as a fade layed over the photos of his life with Lisa and then just returned soulless Sam.
1:18-1:24 is just beautiful. I can't even tell you exactly why, but it's beautiful.
The scene change from 1:50 as a fade is great. It does something to me emotionally.

Truth is I love everything about this vid, the only other time I felt like this was when I watched your Castiel vid. It has the same tender touch on emotions that reaches deep into the viewers heart rather than rubbing them in dramatically. As if you found the soul of the emotion.(If that makes sense.)

It's a real gem this vid!! I bow to you deeply. ♥♥♥

I'm glad the disorientated Dean bit worked - I had to play with that a few times so I'm glad you pointed that bit out.

That section from 1.18 is kinda weird because, other than the drinking clip, that was my first edit and it just felt right. I don't quite know why either.

yay thank you so much honey. I really wanted to show that some how Dean's sacrifices were worth it. I remember how much happier Dean was once Sam had returned - almost back to the Dean we once knew. It was great to see Sam grateful as well. Awwww these boys.... what they do to us.

oh wow, this is beautiful, bb! It's such a beautiful song and it's perfect for Dean during season 6. Some parts made me choke up, great editing and placement of clips with the song, I especially loved that you used the clip of Dean waking up after recovering from being a vampire with the second chorus. I can't believe how long it too me to figure out having Dean wake after the vamp dream on the second "woke up and wished that I was dead". I was really stuck what to do with that repeated lyric. I wanted to show Dean waking up to him knowing about Sam so I had some "realisation" clips in there, which just weren't working. Then I worked with the story and there it was...
