Those on my flist doing the 27 question meme thing... I have requested #7 for a reason. One, I am an educator and two, I have a daughter I need to convince that education is important. I know she is at the wonderful age of 14 where her social life is WAY more important than behaving (and listening!) in class but still. I need words of wisdom. Hence the choice. (parenting is HARD!)

Update on school film: I kinda have to share this because I was a little filled with squee. So. I had HEAPS of trouble burning the film to a DVD. I made the mistake of using the knowledge I have about uploading vids to YT and sending to Wincon to try and do this. It required a new skill set, which I now have. (yay for learning new things..)

But that's not the exciting part. The competition organisers actually called me to say that the DVD I sent wasn't working and they want me to try again (they talked me through it) because "the film is really good and they want it to have the best possible chance in the competition". WOOT!! He said.."If it was crap we wouldn't be asking you to send us a new copy. And congratulations on the work btw". \o/ Of course this doesn't mean anything really because there are 50 films in the comp. but at least it was some positive feedback and we have been shortlisted :D


My love for Jared increased AGAIN after watching the Vancon footage. And Jensen too. In fact, it was wonderful to see such a relaxed Jensen. And you know what?! He totally LOVES Jared. And I mean in a platonic (of course!) friendship, bromance kind of way. At the end of the breakfast footage you should see the way he watches and waits for Jared to come off stage. He TOTALLY has his back. It's like he IS Jared's big brother. I NEED FIC! Jensen watching out for Jared is FACT!

(That last bit seems totally random but Jared vid is now complete. *phew* Will post sometime soon. :) )

I am a big fan of your videos and watch out for them on YT. Some of them I can't see due to copyright reasons, also your latest video full of praise for Jared is not available for me, but thankfully Wrong (one of my favorites- and not only because I LOVE Depeche Mode) is, and I watch it over and over again :-). You put much thought in your videos, you edit them beautifully, and I was interested in the person behind them. From what I read so far, you are... how to put that nicely... not one of the screaming teenager fans anymore, and yet you managed to stay a fangirl with a passion- is that right? If I may put it that bluntly: I am interested in getting to know you, because we share the same interest and seem to be rougly the same age- and are both still able to live out this dream world (as I like to call my fandom-behaviour). So are you okay with me friending you? I see you have friends galore so I don't expect you to be on my LJ much, but I didn't want just to friend you without saying Hi first.

Thank you so much for dropping in. I take you are from Germany if you can't see some of the vids. That's the country that seems to block them the most. I have just posted my Jared vid to my journal - there is a download option there if you want to watch it. :D

And you would be correct! I am no longer a screaming teenager. I actually have one of those..(not so much screaming as pouting at the moment though..). But I AM a passionate fangirl - even in one's 40s one can appreciate the finer things in life - like the SPN boys!

And please do friend. I will friend back. I try to visit my flists posts as much as I can. Even if I don't comment I always check it out.

Thank you! Yes, absolutely, Germany. We have the most ridiculous restrictions, but a great health care. Which comes in handy if my madness should take over completely some day.

Is your daughter SPN-infected as well, or do you keep her from it? The age restriction for SPN is mostly 16 over here...

Nah.. she's not into it. I mean, she's never watched it (it's on late here) and to be honest I think she's rather sick of all the stuff I do in connection with the show it's probably put her off. :)

I second that W00t! Shortlisted & words of praise! You should be really proud of yourself, no matter what happens now....since it's all about participating, not winning. But sill... W00t!

And I hear ya' on the DVD burning issue. Doing the VidUKon DVD nearly drove me insane, and I had so manny people helping out and pointing me to the best programs etc. Why does vidding have to be so TECHNICAL?

It is certainly about the participation. I've said to the kids that no matter how we do the experience has been so worthwhile.

The DVD burn was ridiculous really. But I was saving the film out of my program as I would for a fanvid but I needed to save it differently. Once I did that it worked!

And the cat is doing fine. He's a little different in his personality but he's walking much better. He'll always have a limp though.

Congrats on being shortlisted!!

Maybe your kid needs a goal or a reward to work towards-- a nicer cellphone or a party with her friends if her grades are good at the end of the year? I think abstract concepts like "getting into a good college" are too amorphous at that age. Of course it's tough because then she might expect rewards for everything...

I really like the idea of a reward. Here grades are not too bad, it's her behavior in class that seems to be a problem. So yeah... if we don't get any more complaints about her behavior she can earn something special. At the moment banning her from the internet seems to be (somewhat) a deterrent.

And yep. Kids are hard. Wonderful, but hard work.

Actually, I don't know when they choose the winners. After this short list they create a shorter list and those people are invited to Sydney for presentations. There's a number of "spot" awards. I don't think we'll make it that far. It's hard to know though because I don't know what the quality of the other vids will be like.

Jared and Jensen are awesome. It's fun seeing people get more comfortable with the whole convention thing. :)

It is film competition for primary and high school children. It's run by Panasonic. They give equipment to participating schools (video camera, mike, tripod, t-shirts etc.). The challenge is to make a film no longer than 5mins. There are set guidelines. So yeah. We've spent the last 2 terms making the film and now it's finally done. I've just sent it off to be judged.

And #7 was Do you think education is important.

The breakfast panel was the most comfortable I've seen Jensen (and I've been watching a lot of footage lately). Jared seems to always be at ease. But together they were wonderful.

(man I hope they come to Sydney next year!)
