zimshan recced to me recently. It was in relation to the bad vid post I made a few weeks ago. Though this isn't a "bad vid" by any means... It's the crackiest, most amazing vid I think I've ever seen.
If you haven't seen it I URGE you to check it out. It's brilliantly made and... my God.. the idea. (It's Smallville, but you don't need to know the show at all). Honestly. Go watch! You won't be disappointed. (it's slash but try not to let that put you off either (if you're not into slash) ... it's friggin' hilarious. And kinda O_o)

I also highly recommend this "bad vid" (of the Lord King Bad Vid variety). It's a Merlin vid but, again, you don't need to know the show to watch it. Again slash, but crackish so pretty harmless.

This is a perfect example of a LKBV. As in it's done in complete sincerity, it's well made but the idea is "horrific". And in being so quite hilarious.

And yes! Unicorns! Damn me if I wouldn't love to make a SPN vid with a unicorn in it. :D :D

Date: 2011-09-25 11:47 am (UTC)The catbaby -kitteh was high-larious, but also incredibly well done in the way it's so intensely serious to begin with and then just keeps going and plunging off a cliff! See, this is why I've never tried to touch a slash vid for this fandom, I'm terrified I'd do the same thing and NOT NOTICE!! Or do the totally opposite and end up poking fun at something in horrible bad taste...
It's such a fine line isn't it? Flaming Nora I've made some atrociously bad vids in my time, looking back at some of them I want to salt and burn them to put myself out of my misery and some days I itch to hit the delete key on a few! I hope I've learnt a lot and I know I'm much happier looking back on the later vids - however I still kind of want to re-edit everything with new footage and new ideas, but that's not the point really is it? It's knowing and judging where that line is and not just for me as a vidder either, but for viewers too.
Setting out to make a "bad" vid, whether it's from a technical stand point or an over the top dramatic emotional one, is an art form in itself.
