In preparation for the new season *bounces* I am curious about where my flist lie on my spoil-o-meter.

It's nice to know so I don't accidentally spoil you. Or know that I can chat about spoilers with you if I've seen some. But mostly I'm just a sticky nose. :)

I'd say I'm mostly Level 4. (though at the moment I'm level three - because I'm just ITCHING to see SOMETHING!)

[Poll #1779964]

I am planning to post reactions/reviews again. It's fun and often I feel the need to SQUEE or rant or reflect and just chat and share.

I am also going to be keeping a running tally of deaths. That way, updating the Death Stats at the end of the season will be easier and if I have a question re a death I can ask you all. :)

I avoid any and all spoilers, casting news, promos, trailers, even ep titles. Learnt during X-Files that the less I know about a show I really love the more I enjoy the episode. It's murder esp just days away from the first ep of a new season, but I figure I've waited since early May, another few days ain't gonna kill me.

Is it Sat morning (for us Aussies)yet????

I agree that the less I know the better. Though I've had to become a little more relaxed because I'm on LJ a lot (though everyone is generally really good). Also YT is pretty bad for spoilers. I don't surf the place but people leaving comments on my vids will sometimes say something really spoilery.

I just wasn't strong enough...(though I don't feel massively spoiled. I tend to become more of a spoiler phobe the later the season goes on.

Yay! Saturday! \o/

Spoiler whore here with a capital W, but some of my best buds are totally opposite. I have fun teasing them....I know, it's mean!

Looking forward to your post epi posts :D

Hee! Meanie... It takes a lot of strength to be a spoilerphobe! ;D

I'm looking forward to having episodes to actually post about! SQUEE! :D

It's funny, back in my X-Files days (and even through my dalliances with the last few years of Buffy) I was a spoiler whore. I'd be scanning the boards, the sites, the news, all for the delightful juciness but nowadays I'm more of a sit-back-and-nervously-wait-it-out fan.

Well, that and I've never been very good at facing the possibility of letting go of a character I've slowly come to love so I'm holding my reactions in check for the season to come. :P

In the first season on SPN I spoiled myself something rotten. Even to the point of reading everyone's reaction posts before I saw the ep. I soon discovered that I the less I knew the more I enjoyed the ep.

Ah... yes. I think it's good to wait and see what actually happens with that. ;) I know there's been a lot of discussion around the place but I've stayed away. I'm with you. We'll see what happens...

I'd prefer to see less spoilers than I do, but ironically keeping the Wiki spoiler frees makes that impossible. Generally though I love finding out about whats to come - weeks of little teasers, anticipation and speculation means more than just 44 minutes of enjoyment out of each episode! Occasionally there have been bigger plot points I would prefer not to know as it spoils a great surprise.

However I have to say Madame Gable has kept a very tight lid on things. The couple of spoilers I wish I hadnt known about last season came from fan or paparazzi pictures.

Yeah - I imagine you come across more than the average punter. I've found people are so much more spoiler aware (on LJ anyway) than they used to be.

I've been enjoying the pre season GLEE to much to pass up on indulging in some spoilers leading up to opening night.

Whee! Not long now...

I'm somewhere between 3 and 2. Like, I'd love to know a spoiler, but I don't go looking for them because I'm too lazy, therefore if someone accidentally (or not) tells me a spoiler I'm totally not bothered by it - in THIS sense - on the contrary I'd be interested in it :) But then again, if it's not something crucial, like, Dean going to hell or something I'm usually like "hm, ok then, moving on". I voted for lever 3 :)

Hey hun,

I think I'm going to try and be more relaxed this season. I used to even avoid titles in the past, but that's really tricky - especially as I'm on LJ every day.

But yeah... finding out about major plot moments are really disappointing....

Here's to an awesome S7! \o/

Forget avoiding spoilers. I will actively seek them out! I'm a nosey so and so! And as such I find it impossible not to go looking for stuff. I find it doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the show. Actually if anything it just gets me more excited. But I understand people who don't like spoilers too. Each to their own as they say. :)

Right now I'm avoiding spoilers like the trailer because the suspense is fun. But I love, love love the geeky, how do they do that pics of filming that come out so once the season starts I'm not nearly as careful. I don't get to see the eps til sometime on the weekend because of my kid and the TV schedule and once it's aired it's pretty impossible to avoid some info. Then I actually like that I can see the Squeeeee or ugh subject headings on my flist. As a complete contradiction, I'm really easily triggered by Sam and Dean whomping on each other or main character death so if that looks like it's coming I really want to know, going so far as fast forwarding through the ep with the sound off. Is it Friday yet? (That was probably more than you really wanted to know but I just got typing......)

Date: 2011-09-21 11:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Hee... no. That's all good. :) And I have to say, I do the same thing sometimes. I have to wait for a while before I can watch the ep also, so I sometimes scan my flist to see what the general "feel" is. Which can be dangerous because sometimes little spoilers are let lose.

I keep telling myself that I'm not going to peek... but I just can't help myself sometimes!

And Friday (or the weekend!) is getting closer...\o/

If I weren't modding a community, I'd be at Level 5. Unfortunately, the nature of the game means that I will inevitably encounter some spoilers in my quest to keep my comm on-track. So Level 4 it is.

Ah yes. Good point. You're bound to come across some. I think that'd be true for the newsletter compilers also.

During hiatus I let myself indulge in spoilers, as the season progresses and as long as I'm not struggling with the season (see: S6) I tend to read less and less spoilers. The better the season is, the less I want to read spoilers. I actually went searching for spoilers in S6 because I HAD to know when Sam's soul returned.

Edit: That said, as long as people mark their spoilery posts with Spoiler and I'm free to choose, all's well. However, if I get accidently spoilered...that's life! :)

Ah yes. That's me exactly. (and god! waiting for Sam's soul to return was killing me... I can understand wanting to find info on that!)

(I remember being accidentally spoiled for Sam's soul returning in the episode it did and even though I had rather not known it, it did make me enjoy the ep more knowing it had a positive ending. :) )

I'm somewhere between 2 and 3. I don't mind them but I don't go looking either. I have found out that sometimes spoilers aren't really what they seem, they're crafty little buggers.

Yeah.. the "spoilers" that are released by the Show can be misleading (and I think are leaked just to get us riled)... it's the ones after the show has aired that can be annoying to come across (as in, not cut properly).

I have a very intense dislike of spoilers, so I've ticked level 5, though I wouldn't go as far as killing anybody. But I know that my enjoyment and suspense is so much greater if I go in completely blind. I also think it means that I am much more open to any and all plot developments and seem to get agrivated much less then some other folks ...

Date: 2011-09-21 12:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Tehe... well. I would be most concerned if anyone on my flist was actually capable of killing someone.... even for spoilers... :D

I agree that going in completely blind can heighten the enjoyment. It has for me in the past and I think that's why I try to know as little as possible. though... damn it's hard sometimes!

I'm between a 4 and a 5. Seeing an episode title in advance doesn't bother me, but I really prefer to err on the side of not knowing something that would have been safe to know, than to accidentally learn something I'd have enjoyed more unspoiled.

Sometimes I don't even watch the 'previouslies' at the beginning of the episode, because they're intended for folks who haven't seen every episode. For example, if the Trickster shows up in a 'Previously', then it's a good bet he's going to show up in the episode, and that might have been more effective as a surprise!

Date: 2011-09-21 12:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
The previouslies really give away quite a lot don't they? Sometimes I like them - they make me more excited for the episode, sometimes I'd rather be surprised. Hmmmm... I might consider skipping those too if I'm going in completely unspoiled to start with.

xx

Because I have to wait to watch the eps when the CW puts them up to stream, I know to avoid certain journals until I've watched. After watching I always come to see what you've said, as well as a few others, so I'm glad to hear that you're going to keep posting reviews.

Thanks hun. I found that I really enjoyed posting reactions and finding out how other felt.

I sometimes scan my flist to see what the general "feel" is before I watch ... what their cut texts are saying... but I'm going to try and avoid that this year as I can get accidentally spoiled that way. (If I can!)

Nearly here!

I ticked 5, but since I upload the teasers every week I do watch those and know the episode titles. Those aren't such a huge giveaway though. People like to spoil all over the place on YouTube when I upload stuff, so whatever comments that are posted there I generally ignore.

I think people on LJ are very respectful of we spoilerphobes and use cuts as much as possible. I've realized Tumblr is not like LJ when it comes to that at all though. There is one person I enjoy reading on Tumblr, but I think I'm going to have to avoid it for the entire season because aren't respectful there.

*big grin* Apparently Homer and Cas have been making quite a stir this week, as many people have been commenting about it. If you'd like to save it for future use, with credit, go right ahead. Just don't use it right away because I only made it last week and it needs time to get around :-)

I think I've only watched one spoiler. It sort of fell into my lap.
I've been having my mind on other things anyway, and I'm happy to let the show just take me on a journey with me unspoiled now. But I don't really mind coming across them. :)

Well, yes, when I know something interesting will be revealed in an upcoming episode I very much keep away from spoilers, too. Dinner is less fun when you have eaten the dessert already.. ;)

Yeah, thanks, I'm doing well. It's just that I was sick for weeks and got drawn into the other side A LOT. And that connected with some friends and things going on there. And also into my past and some family stuff. (Not funny)
I think my feet are beginning to touch the ground in this reality again, though. *pretends to be normal again* If I ever wrote a book about all this they either turn that into another Supernatural show or just lock me up. lol.
So, anyway, I'm back in time to now watch the supernatural on screen again... :P
