I'm getting excited about our spn_cinema entry. \o/ geckoholic has been sending me updates of her story and I've started to mess around with some ideas for the vid. This is a new thing for me and I LOVE doing new stuff. Ooooh... and the story is AWESOME!

I'm dreadfully jealous reading all the festivids letters. I would love to be taking part but after having to withdraw last year I didn't feel it was a good idea to sign up. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! <3

My CasnDean vid feels like it's (finally) taking shape. Here I was thinking I could just punch out a vid. But it seems I'd rather get it right than be quick. (Well, as "right" as it can be). I don't (can't! *g*) ship Cas/Dean, but after working with the footage I can see why people do. Man... the amount of gooey eyes they give each other...;)

Speaking of jealous. Wincon happened! (ruby_jelly I am expecting ALL the gos!) Man... we need one of those in Australia. I'm sure it would be awesome fun. And I could actually afford to attend one here! (how many fans does it take to make an Auswincon I wonder?).

I'M RUNNING OUT OF PODFICS TO LISTEN TO! Arrrrgh... this is awful. /o\ I surfed audiofic and I have pretty much listened to all I a) want to and b) all I can (as in audiobooks not MP3). I shall go into withdrawal if I don't have someone reading me a story. :(((

Though I have just started listening to one that is J2 and I'm actually really liking that it doesn't feature all the other personalities that usually accompany those fics. I don't mind them (I really can't because most J2 fic has Chad and Tom and Sandy and MIke and Chris and Steve etc. etc. ) but it's refreshing to have some original names and personalities. I think I might have squeed just slightly when Jared's best friend was Missy and not Chad or Sandy. :) It's not a deal breaker having them all in there, it's just so RARE for them not to be (for the stories that are podficced anyway), it just makes a nice change.

I have a HEAP of fics bookmarked to read though. (oh for the time....)

I'm pondering opening up a discussion on porn in fanfic, but I'm just not sure how that will go. I've been having some interesting discussions behind the scenes and it seems that there's some stuff that would be interesting to discuss. But...er...I suspect it would get rather...um... personal, so not sure it's a good idea *head scratch*

In RL (yeah I actually have a RL in between all this) I'm back at work. As much as I love my job and my kids I do love my holidays. Mainly because it means more time for fandom fun. *g*

It's funny but I have never once listened to a podfic. I mean to, but it just never occurs to me when I have the means to do so. What J2 are you listening to?

I hear you on the RL stuff. I'm home today from teaching unexpectedly with a sick (but not too sick!) kid. Because it's kind of a bonus day, I'm incredibly tempted to write something but two fics in a couple days seems like overkill. :/

Any vids coming any time soon, what with all the gorgeous eps we're getting? Not that I'm hinting or anything... :)

No, it's not overkill!! (At least, to start another one.) I have to confess, I do like shangrilada's fic, which I saw you rec'ing here, and I am rec'ing her in the next spn_littlebro newsletter. (So, thanks for that!) But a lot of short similar fics are better spread out - as much as I liked them, I found I couldn't appreciate them as much when I read them all in one day as if I had read one every week or two.

So - start something new. You don't have to finish it asap!

(And ash48, sorry for hijacking the comment thread! LOL! In fact, let me invite you in it to ask - when do you listen to podfics? I only do when I'm driving out of town.)

I listen to podfics when I drive to and from work, walk the dog and run my daughter around. I barely go a day without listening to something. With all the running around I do with my daughter I am in the car a lot. :)

I just read Nun hat er nichts mehr lieb by honeylocusttree and would totally add that, except I found it on <lj user="crack_impala" and that feels like cheating. But I'll definitely rec it on our theme posts this week! And doesn't listening to podfics that way mean you end up listening in 10-15 minute chunks over several days? I couldn't do that - just like I can't read WIPs, I guess. (Or do you live an hour away from everything?)

Yeah. I end up listening to about 1/2 - an hour of a story each day. I find I don't mind that at all. I usually pick up the thread pretty quickly. :)

Yeah - you actually have to set aside time to search and dl podifc. It's not hard and it doesn't take long. I'm at the point though that I have to try and remember what I've already listened to.../o\

NOT OVERKILL! Hee.. if you have an idea go for it! Man, that story you just posted has been playing on my mind. So many gems of observation. I was a little miffed the week before where they kept hitting Sam on the head. Especially Dean, who should know better. So yeah. The fic was also a cure all. And so beautifully written.

Man... I have a few vids in the pipeline. The Cas vid should be finished soon , I getting excited about the spn_cinema one (though that won't be out until end Nov). I haven't thought of any for this season yet (other than Cas)... I have a great song for Sam, but I just can't seem to get started on it.

Yeah.. this is the tricky part. How to hold a discussion when there will be many points of view and no doubt some sensitive issues. The focus would be on "morality" - (which is itself is tricky). More specifically writing and reading types of porn that in RL you'd never condone. (abuse fic for example) That kind of thing.

And whether it could possibly have a potential negative effect on people. There's the positives too, which is why I've been debating having a discussion.

Oh man.. it would be pretty heavy I think.

I'm guessing that you're listening to Everything Feels Like the End of the World, right? I think that I remember Missy from that... Sorry you're running out of podfics! I'm in the opposite camp right now - I've been stockpiling them for knitting season! And I'm so far behind, but I promise that I'll be finishing at least one new J2 AU podfic by the end of the year, so feel free to poke at me about it.

Yep, recording one. I'm appallingly far behind on my podfic commitments, but I'm determined to finish the J2 AU one before the end of the year. I'd say sooner, but there are three other (shorter ones) ahead of it in the queue. They're not J2 or SPN, so probably not your cup o' tea.

I didn't know you made podifcs. Are there some SPN / J2 ones I've missed of yours? (in other words do you podfic under the same username?)

I really only listen to fics in my show. Man, I even tried some other pairings in the SPN 'verse (other than my OTP) but.. nah.. just couldn't do it.

I only have two SPN podfics in the archive so far, but I'm determined to get caught up. They're both gen, and fairly short: 7 minutes and about 30. They were my first efforts, so they're not great, but I have a better mic now, and hopefully know better what I'm doing. I'm working on finishing my charity podfics before I get back to the J2 AU one.

I understand not being able to listen to other pairings. I've never liked audiobooks, but I think the fact that I'm already invested in the characters is why I like podfic. I actually have another fandom to listen in, Stargate, so I have more options, but my ears are really picky, so if there's too much hiss or interference with the voice I can't listen. As a result, I tend to follow readers rather than pairings.

Thanks for the links. I'll take a listen as soon as I can. I pretty much look for the mp4 format when downloading as the ipod prefers those.

And yes. To much hiss or interference really bothers me too. I've become pretty fussy with my readers also. I mean, there's many I love but I find really slow readers or heavy accented readers hard going.

As accents go, I should warn you that I'm from the U.S. and have the accent Sam and Dean would have if J and J had been raised in Kansas rather than Texas. I forgot to warn an author about that once when asking to record a podfic, and since it was in Narnia fandom it took her by surprise to hear the characters speaking as though they were American.

Hee... an american accent is great - it makes sense for the boys. :) (I'm not sure I could tell one state over another though...*g*) I've even listened and enjoyed english and australian accents for them. I didn't think I would but they were really well read so I don't mind. Mostly, it's the way it's read. The accent is an issue only if I find it hard to understand. Which has only happened a couple of times. :)

*wistful sigh* A big SPN con in Aus would be brilliant. I'm planning on going to AHBL next year but so far neither of the boys are confirmed so it looks like secondary characters only. Still... One never knows so I have my fingers crossed in small hope. :P

Looking forward to the vid! (As far as Dean/Cas goes, I'm a firm believer that Castiel does indeed love Dean canonically -and it has been referenced by the show- but I'm not sure that Dean is hardwired to cope with/accept affection outside family. Being best mates/family with Cas seems to be more than he's ever been willing to give of himself to anyone besides Sam and Bobby.)

Still, the gooey eyes galore amuses me no end. XD

I'm going to edit this just to add two of my favourite Dean/Cas videos that to me at least, show some of the blind (sometimes idiotic :P) devotion Cas has shown towards Dean. And to me that's my personal canon for this pair because although Dean/Sam has been my firm OTP since season one, I slowly watched the evolution of Cas with intrest and in the last few years particularly, I could see the appeal of the pairing to people. (So now I'm not above reading some Dean/Castiel when I've run out of good Wincest. *g*)

A con would be pretty cool wouldn't it?! I went to AHBL a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm waiting to hear if the boys will be attending (or maybe even one?) to see if I'll go this time. Though... I might anyway. We'll see,

Oh yes. I have no doubt Cas loves Dean. In his very angelic way. For me though it's purely non sexual. In fact, I see Cas as asexual. I think that's way I find it hard to buy Dean/Cas. I dunno... just doesn't do it for me or something.

But yes. Dean even admitting Cas is a good friend is quite something for him.

Though I do enjoy all the innuendo ;)

I um'd and ah'd about going to next year's AHBL (as I've never been to a con before) but in the end decided what the heck, it coincides perfectly with the end of my trip so I can jump across and see it. :D Now that I've made the decision, I'm getting pumped almost regardless of who makes an appearance.

In fact, I see Cas as asexual.

You know I totally and utterly did too (I missed all the googly eyes and insanely long stares etc), right up until S5 I think, when it seemed like I pretty much got hit in the face with the possibility of the pairing. It amuses me I guess, because I watch the episodes with an eye for Wincest and then go back and re-watch the ep a few days later with my mates and sometimes Dean/Cas things hit me, other times they slide right by until I read something that skews it that way.

The inuendo is hilarious. It just makes me love more this show that seems to cater for not just one, but several large chunks of it's fans.

Oh it's totally worth going. Misha is a scream. He's very entertaining and he's go damn attractive. I left the auditorium at one point and wandered into the foyer and he was just there, waiting for everyone to come out for photo signing and I have the chance to just stop and stare... and stare...

The last one was very casual. I had a chance to chat to Sam Ferris. And all the actors were SO lovely. It was great to catch up with some fans also. :)

Which con are you going to? Melb or Sydney? If I go it will be the Sydney one as I have family there.

And yeah. Making this vid on Cas I get to see all those longing looks. :) I still haven't found a way to get to them as a pair though. Probably because it messes with my Sam/Dean. :) Though I've been reading a story with that pairing and they look after a sick Sam. I've been able to do that. :)

What type of tickets do you usually get? I'm going for Platinum as I always like to try and save up for the best if I'm going to make an entire trip around something. (Not that I planned this holiday thingy completely so I could fly back through the east coast and see the Con... *innocent eyes*)

I was thinking Sydney originally as I have family who live just outside the city but I have a friend in Melbourne who is also a little nutty for the show (and has been to the cons hosted by these folks before) who said she'd love to go so I've chosen there instead. :) Pretty much if I was going to get the ticket that included the whole breakfast/dinner/something deal, I didn't really want to go alone as I tend to keep very much to myself and not talk too much. :P

Nice idea about the fic too - I'm not sure it's quite in the same vein but I read a big-bang one recently (got into it for the art - omg amazing) that had Cas needing a vessel after the whole purgatory deal and the only one nearby suitable and capable was Sam. So he took Cas in, they worked a way out so that both had control of the body at whatever time they needed and they had to deal for a while with Cas and Dean's slowly-evolving relationship while it was essentially Sam's body Cas was inhabiting. Eventually they found a solution for Cas' lack of 'own' body, but the story itself was a totally unique angle. Not usually my thing but the writing was brill.

Well, I got the cheapest one available last time.. *g*. I figure my ticket over there was pricey enough. Last time the venue was very intimate so I was only a few rows back from the guys who paid a lot. Though I know they get a lot more. I have a friend here in Perth (redteekal) who has paid for the very top ticket (is that platinum?) for the con next year. Hmm.. I think she's going to Melb one as well. In fact, there's probably more I know going to the Melb one rather than the Sydney one.

Oooh, and I like the sound of that story. Um... I'm a kinda Sam gal, so if Sam features in a story with that pairing then I could probably do it. :)
