I've been loving this season so much I actually MISSED IT not being on last week. I have NO IDEA what we're in for. I'm equal parts excited and nervous (as always with this show) because it's one show I can't second guess. Laughing one minute, crying the next. Whaaa... I think there will be crying.... (I have no aths today so I'll be watching as soon as I can *BG*)

Have you seen the stupendous J2 Message for People's Choice Awards??!!! THESE BOYS!! I CAN'T EVEN! They LOVE US!

Random... but any thoughts on You Tube's new layout? I don't mind the new look. I assume it can be personalised though? From what I can gather if you change to the new look you lose all your settings, channel comments etc. I'm not sure I could be bothered changing everything.

Also. Vimeo? Yes? No? Someone asked me to post my vids there because some of them are blocked in their country. Does vimeo not block vids like YT? (I do have an account, I just don't use it).

And I'm seriously considering DreamWidth. LJ seems to be suffering those DDoS attacks more frequently. It don't want to move but the constant down time is rather frustrating.

It's December! How the hell did that happen!?
1.5 weeks of school left! \o/ (thank god. What a term /o\)
6 week holiday here I come! (I'm flying to Sydney on Christmas day for a 2 week holiday \o/).

Well, the thing about DW is that if people would post, it would be active ;) It kind of depends what's getting posted about too. For example, I see a good bit of activity re: podfics.

But I have to say I'm relieved more fandoms are utilizing the AO3 because at least one can download at once instead of trying to click through to new chapters that won't load...

The download function at AO3 is awesome. I'm turning to PDFs and Dl's much more for fics so I at least can read when LJ is down.

And yeah. It's a catch 22 I suppose with DW. If more people posted it would be more active and if it were more active more people would post. I think that's how it works.

I like it here well enough. It just seems to be struggling rather a lot at the moment.

Me too. I've been holding out for five years because having two journals seems untidy and likely to lead to even more wasted time, but I'm starting to think it would be good to have a back-up.

I think if every single one person on my flist moved it would be such an easy choice. But even when there was quite a big move over there (about a year ago) not that many went.

I think I shall just have to learn to be patient when it's down.

I can't wait until the term is over but i've got like 1 presentation, 2 finals, 1 final paper and 1 extra credit...that makes my head spin.

By the time I had watched it I had a bit of an idea about what was going to happen. There were lots of hints about what might happen. I still LOL'd. I couldn't believe they delivered all that with straight faces while they had their pants off! :D

I still have to do all my report corrections and present my programs for 2012 (which I am SO not in the mood to do). I just need to get through next week...

well, I`m posting to Vimeo by now. But not just to Vimeo. I upload all of my videos to Vimeo and Megavideo. I don`t post to Youtube (At one point I did post to YT, and the story why I don`t post there anymore, that would be a looong one)

Vimeo is quick when it comes with the upload, that´s one of the reasosn why I started uploading over there. At Megavideo it can take forever until the streaming is up.
And so far I didn´t see a video being blocked by Vimeo.

Dreamwidth gets a YES!

I got a Dreamwidth account this year, after LJ went down for the first time.
At first I used it as a back-up place for my graphics and videos. (I thought about the amount of time it takes, for me to upload and post a graphic entry, and I didn´t want to waste the time I spent, in case lj went *poof*)

by now I got myself a graphic and video comm at DW, at this time I`m posting everything to Dreamwidth first (unlike my lj comms, my DW comms are up-to date)
and I crosspost from Dreamwidth to my Livejournal.

but yeah, the Dreamwidth comms are kind of dead, and if people don`t post more, they are going to stay dead (reminds self to crosspost more at DW)
Still, I like Dreamwidth, and I`ve met people I didn´t know from livejournal at Dreamwidth (so DW is alive, kind of).

I have thought about using other vid sites but I'm too entrenched in YT now.

I might try Vimeo to see if I can have vids that don't get blocked in Germany (seems t o be the main place).

I got a DW account also but then I realised I couldn't be bothered updating two journals. Each time LJ has major hiccups I contemplate moving but then I think it will just be too hard.

YouTube...hm...I can't see that much has changed has it? I don't spend much time over there so not sure, I know the fonts and things have changed but there's a chance on losing all you settings and comments? SHIT! I had no idea, I could have clicked something by accident!

Vimeo, I have an account, but very rarely use it - *sigh* I should, it's just that I know they hate vidders and that makes me uncomfortable, I would say try it for vids that are blocked but always password them, even then I know vidders who have been tossed.

I have DW for both my accounts, however, I do find it very quiet there, not many of my flist post and I don't know of any active comms, so mine are just mirror back up journals. One good thing about it is you can post just there and it cross posts over here, but I'm reluctant to move, L/J just seems more like home and DW is like a frequented motel. The DDoS attacks though are killing this place and that's such a bloody shame.

P.S. - I have heard of a work around for YouTube, not sure if it still works and I can't test it as I'm not in a country where vids are blocked, but the method I was told was to go to Google Translations and translate the page where the vid is posted into another language - not English or German, but choose a more obscure one and often the vid will play - again, I haven't tested this theory, wonder if we can find a guinea pig somewhere?

Quick comment - I have used Vimeo and found it simple and straightforward. A friend created a Breast Cancer walk music video and needed a place to host it so she could link to it from her Avon Walk page and that worked out fine. (And I tossed a couple music videos on it to test with first - no copyright issues so far. But maybe they don't monitor the low traffic stuff...?)

I would say based on personal experience that 3 out of 4 vids are geoblocked on YouTube if you are from Germany (it's a long story). Vimeo doesn't geoblock vids.
