I also think 5.13 (The Song Remains the Same) and 5.18 (Point of No Return) also use this floor plan but I can't get a good enough cap of it.

I just love that they turn the plan around to mix it up a bit. I scanned through S1-3 and couldn't find this plan used there. They used it 5 times in S4. It appears again in S5, S6 and S7. The hotel layout on 7.05 us slightly different but it looks like they've simply made a couple of trims to the original. :)

It's TOTALLY geeky and a completely useless find but it makes me smile. I love the idea that the set designers had a standard floorplan and just changed the name on the graphic.

I've had two ideas for wiki entries for a long time, but it would take SO long to put them together, and I just don't see that kind of free time in my schedule any time soon. (Right now I have an ohsam fic deadline looming.)

But I love the fans who have better time management skills than me, or more dedication, or whatever qualities enable you to gift fandom with your wacky talents!

Eeek! I think that's a wonderful find! And extremely important.

I wonder how it started? New set dresser? Or maybe someone just pointed out that motel's should have one, or maybe it was always used but never caught on camera? But yes, they must have the basic graphic and add the name etc for each one they do and then actually go that little bit further of reversing it occasionally - that kind of dedication to tiny details is to me very much indicative of how much everyone loves working on this show.

:-) With all the time I spent trying to read the tiny print, I didn't even look at the layout. In S7, I think it might be a different layout but they aren't even bothering to switch up the orientation of the building in the couple I went back to look at (7.03 & 7.05). I wonder who gets the job of making up the names and flyers that go with them. I love that they spend that much effort on it.

Somebody once did a really amazing vid about the motel rooms, you totally need to check that out, it's awesomely brilliant, is what it is. Every time I watch it I have a big grin plastered on my face. Like, right now... ;)

I imagine you've been working on it for a while but seeing your post made me think of how explicit the accommodations discussion was in this last episode, something which almost always goes without mention. The thing I find crazy is that they seem to go to the trouble of naming a hotel and then not really show. The Patrica hotel was well hidden. And I confess I cheated on the Kesley Mannor - I was checking something on Wiki and apparently the hotel was named after Kim Manners. That information thingy on the table is a picture of Manners with a mo. Unbelievable the trivia one picks up. :)

Oh and I found one called "The Rainbow Trout" from Metamorphosis. It is literally shown for about 2 frames and then it disappears. Crazy! (I was wondering why there were pictures of fish all over the place..*g*)

Though I've always had an interest in the motels (I made a vid about them a while back) so I've already collected quite a bit of info.

It just take ages to put it all together and cross check stuff.

Hee! Yes.. So important that I don't think fandom will ever me the same again..;)

I'm actually thinking it's in "stock" and they pull it out to decorate the door - give it some authenticity. I'm pretty sure they don't expect some fan (who seems to have too much time on her hands) to notice it. OR is was put is for some crazy fan TO notice. Ha! Consider it noticed Show!

It's just because I'm capping and looking closely at every little detail (I'm also looking for example of items being reused - like bedspreads etc). I spotted one and then when I saw the next one I got curious. When I noticed they had just flipped the plan around it made me a little bouncy. (/o\) When I cap S5-7 I'll be keeping my eye out.

It would be awesome fun making up the names and designing the room. Sometimes there's a link between the name and what's going on in the episode. I'm also keeping an eye out for that stuff.

Clearly too much time on my hands (which is actually not true. I have a heap of other things I should be doing.

I always thought there was an entry until I went looking for one. <i?lj user="missyjack"> mentioned that one would be good so I set to work. It'll take a bit of time because there's a heap of footage to lok through, but it's getting there.

Ahhh, the vid. Thank you. (hee, I do hope you mean my one ;) ) In fact that's what probably started my interest in the motels. After scouring the seasons for all the motels I have a pretty good list of where they are.

I sure hope it is. It's going to mostly be just facts - name, location etc. Whether they squatted or slept in the car or at Bobby's etc. I am hope to add some trivia but I'll probably list those in the picspam, along with pictures of the room and small details.

I'm still unsure why they had to fight over a room. They always share so I'm thinking I might have missed something there.

The PSR has started some interesting discussions also. I love when we get caught up on the little details. :))

I'll confess to one of them. One of my earlier fandoms was a WWII TV series from the 1960's called Combat! And one of the fans logged every injury each of the main characters suffered over the 5 years that it ran. For example, this.

Back when I was recording my favorite episodes of all sorts of TV shows on VHS, I created an Access database so that I could log every type of hurt, and easily query to find out how many concussions a character had suffered, etc.

So -- that's what I'd love to see online. A listing episode-by-episode of how the boys got bashed, and a cross-reference that lists the injuries (choking, anyone?) and corresponding episodes.

It could be a handy fanfic reference or music video reference or icon-making/picspam reference, no?

Oh wow.. That would be awesome. But yes, incredibly time consuming. Though if the work was divided it wouldn't take too long. (a person a season for example)

As a vidder it would be great to know stuff like that also. Especially things like being tossed into a wall.

I am very curious how many times Sam has been hit over the head. That boy's head sure must be hard.

I've been wanting to catalog (and have in fact started another picspam /o\) on the boys being tied up (shutup - that's totally legit research *g*).

Sometimes the motel names are related to the location and sometimes the decoration inside is related in some way also. There was one in Indiana that had basketballs and car wheels on the divider and that state is known for basketball and the Indianapolis 500, a major car race. I love how over the top some of them can be like the one with the fish on the divider and the one decked out with the stripper motif.

Would you be interested in doing a check over when the s4 picspam is done? For general typos etc but mostly to see if I've missed some stuff like that? It'll be a while yet. I'm alternating between compiling the motel data and making caps. :)

I suspected there were hints for every motel, like the pamphlets on tables or keychains and the like, but some just escaped me (or I just couldn't make them out). I love these little details so much though :)
