Holiday is made of awesome. Enjoying my beautiful nephew and I'm loving catching up with my family. :D

Watched an ep of Sons of Anarchy last night with my sis and discovered she's a bit of a fan (first time I've even seen it. Wow... intense). She wondered if there were some good fan vids out there? I could do a YT search but I'd rather show her some really good ones. I've been talking about vidding and fandom and how awesome people are at making things. I've also mentioned slash (hee... nothing like coming clean about what I like to read...) and she's totally cool to see any SoA slash vids (if they exist?). I'd love some recs if you have any.

Speaking of reading...

Just finished reading checkthemargins When It Happens (and the two follow up fics). A-MAZING! It's gut wrenching and powerful and Sam's hurt is made even more brutal by not knowing exactly what happened. But the boys' relationship is beautiful and believable and makes all the hurt bearable. (The most recent installment, may not be for the faint hearted though, so check the warnings). Oh boys. :(( Oh fic... \o/


How's the new lj cut scissors? I suppose that might be helpful for newbies to LJ. *shrugs*

I don't know if I recommend it yet. I saw that one episode but I had no idea what was going on. It was very intense. From what my sister said (and others commenting here and about the place) it's definitely a show I want to try. It looks interesting.

I love Sons of Anarchy! If it's ok to do a self rec, I made a SoA vid for festivids. It's not slash, though. You can find it here (spoilers for all episodes). Unfortunatelly I don't know of any other vids. I searched for SoA vids on youtube once but the ones I clicked on were blocked for me, so after a while I gave up.

I LOVE SOA so much! You should really watch it! It's so freaking good. I don't take part in the fandom, though, really, because I don't ship anyone on the show. Although I did write a 79k Dean/Jax crossover, but I doubt your sister would be interested in that :D

Yes--come to the dark side! SoA was only my second fandom ever, the only one I've written extensively in, other than SPN. I haven't really explored the vid aspect of that fandom much at all, and I've found that the quality of writing in SoA is overall pretty poor, but I can certainly hook you up with some SPN/SoA crossover fic written by great SPN authors like Sylvanwitch and TheNyxie.

Anyway, the show is kind of "in your face" so if you're bothered by harsh realism you might not like it. On the other hand, it's the only show in...ever...that's really had me on the edge of my seat for nearly every episode of every season, anxious to know what happens next. And I think it's very appealing to fans of Supernatural because of what it has to say about family, and about how far we'll go for the ones we love, and about living outside the bounds of "normal." Hence all the crossover slash fic I've written. *g*

I actually like harsh realism (as long as it's not too "soapy"). From what everyone has said it sounds like something I'll like. My sis is lending me her DVD's so I can start watching.

Have to podficced any of your crossover slash fic by any chance? My reading time is SO limited...hence my voracious appetite for podfic.

A bit. My friend Riverbella has done Body Work, the first story in my longest series, which is porny Dean/Jax with a side order of storyline. I also recorded Fortunate Son, which is Sam/Jax, but there's now a sequel (both written for sn_crossbigbang) that hasn't been recorded yet. I've been thinking of reading the entire Body Work 'verse in myself, and maybe making an audiobook of the two stories in the FS verse. I guess now might be a good time, with Amplificathon going on, and with the way that challenge privileges crossovers in terms of scoring.

Also, if you're interested in the crossover, Sylvanwitch has an incredible Biker 'verse that is sort of a dark-ish, post-apoc world, that features Dean/Jax in a long-term relationship. Her stuff is f*locked for personal reasons, but I'm sure she'd add you, no problem, if you're not already on her list. The only reason I haven't podficced this 'verse yet is that I know she's still working on it, and in fact, has another installment (possibly the last?) in editing right now.
