You can "like" by clicking the heart. You can comment by reblogging and putting on your own message. You can't really leave a comment (as far as I can see) - you can't have conversations like you can on LJ. So tumblr will never replace here for me.
I am still a tumblr clutz. It took me AGES to figure out how to do stuff. Compared to LJ it's pretty easy, but I kept trying to do things like I do on LJ and it doesn't work.
Hee..I don't know either. Actually, maybe they are all set up like that - as in, when you go to someone's journal you can't immediately see the like button. Yours was a little harder to find than some I think...clicking on the "note" brought up the heart for me. :)) I'm still confused by the place. I like the pretty though! :D
I think a lot of it is according to layouts - some have the option right there with every post, sometimes that's obvious and at others you have to hover your mouse over the entry and then it appears and with some you do have to click on the actual individual post for the menu option to appear at the top of the page.
I do get very frustrated by the lack of consistency, often I can't even find the link to get to the next page! Fix that by adding the /page/2 to the address if you can't find a link. And don't start on trying to have an actual conversation over there, as I said to someone recently it's like being in a huge hotel and everyone having the same conversation but never leaving their own room. I give up pretty quickly, sad, as there are some interesting meta posts but too difficult to follow who's saying what..
