Post 99

I've decide to post something so that my 100th post will be my next vid - I know, call me anal - I do like things in boxes, preferably colour coordinated ones. :D

Firstly - welcome to new friends. *hugs* Thanks for coming on board. I don't blog like this often, mostly just vid posts and vid recs (of which I am terribly behind - I hope to remedy that soon) but this is a special 99th post post. Not many really, but when I made my first post in April 2007, I had no idea I would still be here.

I've hand-balled my next vid to my beta so hopefully I'll be posting that soon (I'm back in my comfort zone with this one I have to say - I just needed something to make me smile).

Can anyone tell me if a vid has been made recently (as in S4) to Johnny Cash's "Hurt"? It's screaming Dean at me and I'd love to have a go at it, but not if it's been done recently....

Our boys will be in my country soon (if not already) and it breaks my heart a wee bit that I will not be there for the occasion. But, to all those who will be there have a GREAT TIME (I wish I could share a drink with you all!) and I can't wait to read all about it.

Wow - three vids? You know you should finish them and post them - I saw Maichan's comment below and I agree that anyone has the right to any song I suppose. Plus, each vidder will bring their own flavour and interpretation to it.

For me I'm just not keen to make a vid to a song that's either been used a lot or an amazing vid has just been done on it.

And really? People won't watch a vid is they don't know the song?! I've discovered so many great songs by watching vids - some of them now my favourites because I saw a vid made to them! (so, more fool them I say!)

Thanks Ellie - if the idea sticks with me I might just have to give it a go.

Yeah, I might haul a couple out again, maybe a few months down the line, a little time and distance might help, new footage that I could use.

Me? I've never dismissed a vid just because I didn't know the song, (I usually only do that with those I can't physically watch) or because I've seen it vidded before, sometimes I think it's great just to see another interpretation, but some can't seem to do that without judging one against the other instead of looking at each in it's own right.

Sometimes before I start I do a search and I'll have a quick peek, but usually if it's nothing like what I have in mind (and let's be honest it's unlikely to be so) I decide to do anyway, but if one is released as I'm working I tend to chicken out and stuff it back in the "finish this shit later" file. It's a big file... *G*

Pet Peeves lists are useful but also fraught with danger, I should give them up for a while. **nods to self**

I still think though if the song is talking to you then do it, there's a million and one songs out there but if this is the one to tell the story you have then this is the one for you - I honestly cry a little at those - "I vidded this but the song was rejected so I replaced the audio with..." I couldn't do that.

Is that actually a thing?? *iz naive* I have my personal list of pet peeves I suppose but nothing I would impose on anybody else. :) I personally have no issue seeing a song vidded to a few times. Hmmmm, not sure why it would bother me then to actually make a vid to a song that's already been done ..... *ponders*

That is sad! There is NO WAY on earth I could do that. The song is first and foremost in my books and it would defeat the purpose completely by changing the song. I'd rather not post it on YT (which has now happened!)

No way...I'm far too chicken, but I will tell you that every time this sort of thing comes up I get the urge to do a crack Benders vid to "The Folks who Live on the Hill"...I'm pretty positive no idiot has stepped in that shit before! I get over the impulse pretty quickly though. Now if I could just get the inspiration and initiative back to finish my Bobby Vid to Aunty Grizelda? Life would be sweet as someone's waiting for that one, but I'm in one of those "meh" moods lately. :)

And yes, for me it is the song every time and if that means not posting on YT? So be it. I'm having the same problem with Imeem too, half my stuff is blocked, but I'll still only vid to the right song.

HA!! DO iiiiiiTTTT!!! :D And the Bobby vid too! Nothing beats a crack vid!! :D Hey and if you ever want someone to take a look at it before you post let me know. ;)
