Loki's skill as a vidder is just stunning. This vid is a wonderful example of that. It's AU. It's fast paced, it's dark, it's sad.... it's amazing.

Umm ... also, while I'm here.... if someone had a couple of minutes to explain to me what the deal is with Dreamwidth? I get that it's a journal etc. but why is almost everyone on my flist going there? Is LJ about to close down forever or something? Is it so much better than LJ?? Is it the hot new thing? I get the sense that it's a "back up" or something *sigh* I'm out of my depth......

dreamwidth is just like Lj. People have got excited coz it's new and shiny, and also bc people (like me) want to snag their username just in case.I dont see that there is any motivation for fandom to migrate until(if) LJ collapses or does something douchey. Sent you an invite to DW so you can join though!

I like Dreamwidth because it has a prettier name than Livejournal and that's pretty much the only difference at the moment :P In the future, well, it may become something better. It certainly aims to.

Hee! The name certainly is prettier.

It's just been really weird seeing nearly everyone mention it. Anyway - I've made an account now, but don't plan to do much about it until maybe I have to.

Dreamwidth is the new shiny in fandom.

It does have a couple of major differences -

#1 is the way it handles it subscribe/access opposed to the friending on l/j. If you - say - write fiction have a large list and flock you're entries? Dreamwidth offers a better option of allowing readers access without flooding your reader page with too many entries. I think that appeals to many - not me as I have a tiny list and leave all my fandom stuff open and on comms.

#2. Again if you write long entries - *snort* again NOT me, but the character limit is much bigger, so I can see how that appeals to many too.

#3. Cross posting, post over at Dreamwidth and the post can appear on l/j and a few other places too.

I'm kind of entrenched over here at l/j - happy with my flist and the comms and newsletters that exist. Unless EVERYTHING migrates, there's no way I'll move as I'm a lazy ass and there's no way I'm keeping up with two flists, I have the Dreamwidth account (same name) as back up. When I remember I post there, but most of the time I forget! *G*

I would be far too lazy as well .... there's no way I could maintain 2 journals - I have a hard enough time keeping up here. But I suppose if there is a mass migration, I have an account now. I know a while back LJ was doing some stuff peps weren't impressed with and there was talk of moving. But this seems to be the place at the moment.

Well, dreamwidth is kinda a better version of LJ, I guess? Many people wanna use it as a back up account or something. Anyway, I'm not the right person to ask about this thing lol

You're welcome. You know, when I watch your vids I'm always blown away by your technique - I have no idea how you do half that stuff. Plus, AU.... you know I have an immense appreciation for anyone that can do that. It's HARD!

Yeah - I think you're write about Dreamwidth. Mostly as a back up at the moment.
