Day 18: Favourite Ghost/Monsters



So many great monsters. I'm assuming the question is referring to Monsters of the Week - rather than the overall baddies (including demons and angels).

Let's see...

A monster that I really felt was poignant was the Rugaru from Metamorphosis. The MoTWs are often used to mirror the boys journeys and this one was particularly reflective of Sam's personal struggle in dealing with his inner hunger.

I loved the shapeshifter in Skin (probably because it was Jensen playing the part..;D). Does the Golem from Everybody Hates Hitler count? He was a monster - a good monster, but still a monster. If that counts then definitely him! He was awesome and I'd love to see him (and Adam) return.

The Benders were creepy as all get out and I liked the Wendigo also. Oooh and the Pagan Gods from A Very Supernatural Christmas were fun (they stomped on a Xmas cake after all).

Sweet Peter on a popsicle stick! That's a tough one to answer, eh? So many cool monsters for so many different reasons... The Golem is a great choice though.

I liked the fairies, I think I'd like to see more of them.

Ha ha yes! I am having an ongoing debate with some US friends on FB who insist unicorns not only have a horn but wings. We have compromised on American unicorns having wings but recently I did have to point out that the SPN version was, in fact, wingless. Sometimes you can't just let things go, eh? LOL

I think the Benders, and the feral kids from Family Remains were creepiest because they were human, not once, but still but you're right definitely the Benders because they chose their behaviour *shudders*

I too would love to see Adam, and the Golem again, they were fantastic characters, both of them, as were the Carigan's from the Christmas episode. The "fudge" line was just so good, especially given the circumstances :)

I also love Lenore but not for creepy reasons but because she fought her nature, and I just really liked her character.

Oh yes...Lenore for sure! She was also a monster who was pivotal to the story line. In fact, looking back, extremely significant. She proved the fact that not all monsters are black and white - there is a grey area.

Yes, she was quite an eye opener for Dean, I think Sam already saw the grey area but yes, she certainly surprised Dean.

My favourite type of monster in the show are shapeshifters. There is something intensely unsettling about a monster that assumes the identity of its victims and wreaks havoc on their lives (and the people in it), framing said victims for its evil doings in the process. So shapeshifter stories always intrigue me. It's one of the reasons why I enjoyed the leviathan mytharc in S7 so much.

If it comes to one single monster, though, I would have to agree with your choice of Adam's Golem. He is one of the few sympathetic 'monsters' in the show, and I always love when the show subverts simple monster cliches. :)

*nods* to it all. The shapeshifters are interesting monsters. I love that in Skin we got to see why they assume other identities. And yay for enjoying the leviathan myth arc (I think we might be one of a few who actually did) - I liked the way they played havoc on so many lives.

And the Golem was inspired. It's a shame we have lost Ben Edlund.

The Golem? Aww, I loved him -- just can't see him as a monster. ;) (Then again, I chose Benny as my favorite "monster," and I can't really see HIM as a monster, either.)

Yeah - hard to see the Golem as a "monster" (though he was made of clay...). Lenore is another "monster" I loved. Looks like the best ones are the ones that come into that grey area....

Yes! I agreed about the shapeshifter in Skin, and the Golum. I should have thought of Lenore... and the Benders were wonderfully horrible too. And the Pagan Gods -- squee!

Anyways I'm going to keep it rather short today.

My favourite monster on the show would probably be Lenore partially because she has special meaning for me. SN wasn't a very big thing where I lived and so I never heard about it at first since I wasn't online at the time (for shame I know). Then one night I was channel surfing and a repeat (or possible first airing here) of Bloodlust was on and when I spotted Amber Benson playing a vampire after loving her on Buffy I had to try it out. Then of course history began and while I started for her I stayed for the brothers and the fantastic characters and world around them <3

Beyond that I thought she was a really interesting character with alot of potential! I just loved how the show explored her struggles with dealing with her inner nature and only wish we had gotten more of her :)

I loved Lenore! (in fact, I wish I had remember to list her). I didn't know her from Buffy so I didn't have that connection, but I did connect with her character and the impact she had on Sam (and later Dean) and the story line for the episode.
