Supernatural 30 Day Challenge
Oct. 2nd, 2013 08:42 pmDay 20: Favourite crying/sad scene
This question seems a little like the one about the episode that makes you cry. This time I'm picking scenes that were particularly sad for the characters.
I giffed two scenes because these are on the top of my list:
John's death has to be one of the saddest moments for the boys (aside from any time one of them dies). I love this moment in the hospital just after John dies. Their reactions are very different - they say a lot about their characters. Dean is confused and shocked, Sam seems to accepts what is happening and starts to grieve immediately. This mirrors the scene by John's grave. Dean is stoic and holding in his emotions while Sam freely cries.

I have mixed feeling about the final scene in Heart. I absolutely loved Dean's reaction - the tear and the flinch when the gun goes off. I wasn't too keen on the way they filmed Jared (looked like a wide lens or something. I figure it was used to heighten the drama - which probably wasn't necessary. The song and their performances were enough). Anyway - loved that the camera stayed on Dean when Sam went in to do the deed - very powerful. I also love that Dean feels this way because of what his little brother is having to do. Whaaaaaaa :((

Other fav sad scenes - Sam and Dean watching John's body burn, Dean crying over John's grave in What is..., Jo and Ellen's death, Dean's breakdown at the end of Heaven and Hell, Dean's phone call in Home (I remember that scene blowing me away at the time!), Dean at the end of On the Head of a Pin, each time one of the boys die, Bobby's death, Bobby saying goodbye to his (zombie) wife, Nick (Lucifer's vessel) crying over his dead baby's cot,....Damn it! Too many sad scenes.
Least favourite sad scene: Dean throwing away the amulet. NUFF SAID!

Date: 2013-10-02 02:32 pm (UTC)Other mentions would be Dean's utter despair at the end of My Bloody Valentine, the boys reaction to Bobby's death and Castiel's admission that he is feeling suicidal in Hunteri Heroici kills me.

I think he (a bit like Sam at times) doesn't get much opportunity to say how he feels about everything he's done. I remember being moved by that scene and then (if I recall correctly), baffled because that was the last we heard of Cas feeling suicidal.
