Funniest Episode: I think I probably chuckled the most during The French Mistake (though my brain spins when they break the 4th wall). The scene about the lock and the key was probably my favourite. But Gen overacting over Misha's death is also right up there. Total crack up.

I also I squeed mightily at Changing Channels. The moment that Sam became the Impala (aka KITT from Knight Rider) filled me with the utmost GLEE!

Favourite Season Premiere I'd like to say 9.01 but as it hasn't aired yet I'll go with the brilliant In My Time of Dying. Everything about this episode was just so right.

Funniest Episode: I would have to think on this! Me and shows comedy haven't the best of histories lol.

Favourite Season Premiere Ooh it would definitely have to be In My Time of Dying. It is just a fantastically wonderful episode and one of my favourites of the show full stop <3

Yeah - I'm a little wary of the "funny" episodes. I don't generally like the forced comedy. I felt that (as a meta ep) The French Mistake, was at least clever and they trod a fine line between comedy, meta and a MoTW ep.

And I agree. IMToD is one of the best eps ever. Beautifully written and produced.

I am definitely with you on In My Time of Dying. Not only the best season opener, but one of the best episodes. Period. ♥

Funniest episode for me is probably Bad Day at Black Rock. Sam's streak of unluck never fails to make me laugh. Great comedic timing on Jared's part and some great comedic choreography as well. I will have to admit, though, that the only Supernatural scene that ever made me laugh actual tears was the lock & key scene from The French Mistake.

I almost put Bad Day at Black Rock. :) I love that Jared got to show off his comic timing. My favourite being when he got tangled in the cords and fell down the back of the sofa.

Yeah - the best season opener is an easy one. Nothing even comes close I reckon.

The fave season premier is a toss up for me, between In my Time of Dying and Lazarus Rising. And those 2 are in my top 5 all time faves too.

I hesitate putting Changing Channels as a funny episode because it packs such a massive emotional punch with the bit reveal of Gabe's identity - Richard Speight knocked that scene out of the park!

Yeah - Lazarus Rising would probably be my second most favourite.

And CC did have an underlying darkness and emotion about it that make it hard to see it purely as a comedic episode (though I suppose that could be said for all the funny ones...).

IMToD was a stellar episode, no doubt. But there were some extenuating circumstances that enhanced its wonderfulness.

When the semi slammed into the Impala in the season one finale, it was a cliffhanger for sure. Not only did we have to wait until S2 to find out if anybody lived, and who lived, and who died. It was too much to hope that they all made it out of that, especially when the truck driver's eyes showed black.

But not only that, we had literally, no expectation that show would be back for a second season. With the network changeover and the lack of enthusiasm of network execs for SPN, it was 50/50 at best that we'd ever find out. It was a long and anxious summer before we got a provisional, half-season renewal, and were finally able to find out what happened after that devastating wreck.

For me, at least, the uncertainty heightened the wait and made getting to watch IMToD a unique experience. That Manners and co. knocked it out of the park was just amazing and so, so gratifying.

Just my POV. YPOVMV! Heh.

I didn't know all that. How interesting...I came on board (as in on-line fandom) around the beginning of S2 and I had no idea that it was 50/50 about it being renewed. Wow - *phew* is all I can say.

They really did knock it out of the park. I can only imagine how excited people were to hear it had been renewed AND to get an episode like that... (but only for half a season?!? Man...). I suppose it was special to me because it's when I first started reading reviews and meta and so much great stuff was said about the episode. It's an ep I can easily re-watch.

My pick is Changing Channels, too. I couldn't stop laughing when Sampala said "Should I honk?"

IMToD is in my top five eps, it's totally the best season premiere.

My picks are In My Time of Dying (aka, the episode that, when shown to me along with funny bits from seasons 4 and 5, utterly and unequivocally hooked me on SPN), and Bad Day at Black Rock.

Both eps are in my top 5 of all time, along with Mystery Spot. The last 2 slots keep changing on me. :)
