You've probably seen this podcast recced around the place. It's for a good reason. It's awesome!

Aisha Tyler - Jared Padalecki - Girl on Guy

It's is a highly entertaining and interesting chat between Aisha and Jared. It's almost like you are eavesdropping on their conversation. It's so casual and candid. Aisha is absolutely delightful - she's a mix of squeeing fangirl and professional colleague.



There's a great bit about auditioning that reminded me why I didn't pursue my (once) dream of being an actress. The auditioning process is a nightmare, so it great hearing about Jared's and Aisha's experiences with it. I also love the section on being famous - and how to not be a douche if you are.

But my FAVOURITE is Aisha's acknowledgement that the reason she loves it is because of the brothers and their relationship (which..YEAH..we know that but it's great hearing it in the interview :D). That whole chat (which goes on for a while) is fantastic - so passionate. There's talk about fanworks (and slash!) and it's not at all squicky.

But THIS!! THIS THIS...(at -42.38):

Aisha: The other thing I love about the show is that there is honestly, truly very few television shows or even creative projects about the interior life between men.

BINGO!! I love the show for so many reasons but I think if I had to put one thing on the very top of my list it would be this. I love that we get to watch heaps and heaps of moments and issues and drama between men. And not just Sam and Dean - there are heaps of other male relationships explored (though, for me, that's the relationship I am most invested in). That's not to say I don't love stories between women or between men and women but there are so few shows that almost exclusively focus on this interior life between men.

If you have the time I really recommend a listen. It's funny, informative and full of love and passion.



9.01 is still mulling around in my brain. I've had some wonderful discussions about it (thank you!) and I have to say I am even more excited about it - and the season. I can't wait to see 9.02 just to see what direction they are planning to take with it all. (And I'm trying to remain as spoiler free as I can now...;D)

bertee has posted a wonderful recap/review on the episode. (sorry, just realised it's friend's locked). It's funny and insightful (and positive). One thing that particularly grabbed me was the reminder that this show is horror. What happened in 9.01 has some great horror elements and if they play this right we could have some very creepy scenarios.

counteragent and created a fabulous introduction to her fan film The Other Side. Even if you haven't see the film (what? why not!?) you should check this out. It's great vidding, writing and performing. And it gives you some interesting insight about the making of the film.

While you're over there, also check out her 9.01 comment fic meme. I've been VERY lucky and had two prompts filled and they are GREAT! \o/ (eta: there's some awesome unfilled prompts over there dying for a story...)

Ooh thanks for the reccs! Ill have to check them out especially the review :) Im currenly writing my own review and found once I thought on it and wrote there was alot to appreciate about the episode. Even if Dean's actions still horrify and disgust me!

Oh yay! I'm so glad to hear that. I think it's one of those episodes that really needed some distance from to pick up everything. And I think the Dean decision could provide some interesting character development (or not!). I think the next few eps will give us an indication about where they'll be going with that.

I loooove Aisha Tyler and I've caught up with all her Girl on Guy podcasts since the last JP one (there's two with Jared, for those of you who didn't know!)

And yay, horror! I hope we get some serious, thinky horror this year from Show (tho I'm not holding my breath but it could happen!)

Oh, and counteragent's intro was so sweet. And interesting. Boy, did they work their buns off on that film.

Yes, she talks about the other interview. I really should track it down. I love the way she interviews. She's so enthusiastic and she sounds like a real fan of the show (or it's just great prep).

How awesome would it be if they actually did some genuine horror eps. With Sam unknowingly possessed (and Dean knowing but not saying anything), so creepy shit could ensue. Though I'm not holding my breath either because I think they'll be looking more at the fallout between the brothers rather than the horror story telling possibilities. But we shall see!

And yes. They worked SO hard.

I love that podcast and the one from last year.
I was just listening to it on the train to Cologne (Jason Manns has a concert there tonight) and I was laughing tears several times. Great stuff. Have some of her other podcasts with me as travel entertainment ( Felicia Day among others) and really enjoy those as well

It's great to have someone who's actually and actor and part of the business doing the interview (and a fan!).

there's just something about the swearing... I dunno, it seems to make it more natural or easy or something. Though hearing Jared say fuck is weird. If the show was on HBO Sam and Dean would swearing ALL the time..

Me too, and that's why I'm not quite as enthusiastic as many people about having more focus on women characters (though I know it's important for society in general and for girls as role models). It was interesting that Jared said that thought hadn't occurred to him!

It's interesting that they seem to struggle with writing women (maybe because they are nearly all male writers?) so it's probably best they stick to the male relationship.

Jared's comments surprised me at first and then I realised he was referring to him not knowing that there isn't much TV around that focuses on male relationships. He could be in a bubble when it comes to what on TV at the moment. He probably thinks there are more shows like SPN.

I love everything about the Aisha Tyler interview -- she and Jared had a real camaraderie going on. They seemed to have a ball doing the interview, and I sure had a ball listening. (Dang it, I missed bertee and counteragent's posts again? :( LJ hates me, I swear. Off to check them out right now!

I love that they not only joke about wincest but they seem pretty ok with it - enough to tease each other with it anyway. I suppose it must have been weird at first and now they understand more about how fandom works in that regard (a bit like I did when I first came into the SPN fandom).

The shipping thing seems so natural to us because we are surrounded by it, but for them it must be quite the head spin. Probably why the writers scratch their heads about the Cas and Dean stuff also. Whoops, got of topic.

The train story is so funny. I love the way he tells it.
