Dean's Movie Meme
Nov. 8th, 2013 08:04 pmDean's Movie Meme
How do you rate?

After listing all of Dean's movie references recently I was curious to see how many of Dean's movies I've watched. I've made this for purely personal reasons, but if you are curious too you could give it a go (I am totally pinching the TV meme idea I saw going around).
Bold the ones you've seen.
Titles with 3 or more movies (James Bond, Star Wars etc) decide if you've seen enough of them to consider it a point. If there's a movie with a remake that isn't listed (i.e. The Parent Trap), either one counts.
Dean is quoted as seeing every Clint Eastwood movie. He stars in 42 movies. Include if you've seen a lot of his films (say over 20…).

Date: 2013-11-08 01:45 pm (UTC)91 is pretty darn good! And YES! You are Sam. I almost put that in that score actually. :D

Date: 2013-11-08 01:50 pm (UTC)And I can't get that link to work. I have no idea why. I've tried a few different combinations. Try this: http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Dean%27s_Movie_%26_TV_references (It's in Wiki's Library under Pop Culture).

Date: 2013-11-08 01:47 pm (UTC)And Any Which Way You Can and Every Which Way But Loose are Clint Eastwood movies. Do they get special mention because Dean specifically loves "the Clyde" movies?

Date: 2013-11-08 03:32 pm (UTC)Did Dean quote Monty Python & the Holy Grail? I'm trying to remember.. I love that one so much, you'd think I would have instantly picked up on it.
no subject
Date: 2013-11-08 04:03 pm (UTC)And according to the SuperWiki references I used Dean's never quoted from the Holy Grail (shame, cause I reckon he's seen all the MP movies ).

Date: 2013-11-08 06:39 pm (UTC)79/153 unless I get to count some Dirty Harrys and spaghetti westerns that aren't individually listed (and "It's a Wonderful Life," which I don't believe for a minute Dean wouldn't have seen, no matter what the writer of that partic episode tried to push over on us), in which case it still won't reach the next level. So Dean and I will be arguing over what movie to watch. Basically, as long as it's not a horror film, we'll do okay. :-)

Date: 2013-11-09 01:02 am (UTC)I also think he would have watched It's a Wonderful life. If he hasn't you can show it to him on your date night. No arguing…just make him watch it because it's a MUST SEE movie (imho).

Date: 2013-11-09 01:13 am (UTC)Awesome choices for movie night at Dean's. I think that right there sums up Dean (and Show!) in a nutshell.
It would also explain how you know so many of the references when you do the episode entries on the Wiki (I assume it's you who does those?). They are so impressive. I used all the entries to compile this list and there's some serious work in each one of those posts. <33

Date: 2013-11-09 12:18 am (UTC)I counted The Exorcist even though I've never seen the whole thing. I watched it while babysitting alone in a big house when I was 13 (stoooopid) and about three-quarters of the way through the electricity went out, leaving me sitting alone in total darkness with no idea where the flashlights or candles were, and unable to hightail it out of there onto the lit street because I couldn't abandon the babies. There was a lot of very terrifying groping around in pitch black.
So I've never seen the end of The Exorcist, but after what I went through to see the beginning and middle, it's gotta count.
I'd totally watch the end if Dean were with me on a date though! ;)

Date: 2013-11-09 01:16 am (UTC)And Dean would totally be up for seeing you through to the end (of the movie I mean…)

Date: 2013-11-09 05:27 am (UTC)I am surprised at how many people have low numbers.
Ash, I highly recommend Dogma; that was my favorite movie of the year!
no subject
Date: 2013-11-09 10:58 am (UTC)I am surprised by the ones with low numbers too. Mostly because this is a genre show and being such I would have thought it would attract genre fans (many of Dean's films). But I think this show becomes more drama (and bromance) thank horror/thriller - I think that would account for it.
Thanks for the film rec. I will make sure I check it out. Hubby and I are often looking for new films to watch.
Thanks again for your help! This has been fun.

Date: 2013-11-09 11:15 pm (UTC)I think people with lower scores generally don't favour the horror genre and even though SPN is supposedly horror, it's not really that scary (just gory at times).
I'm at least culturally aware enough to have gotten all the references on the show.
Which is why I reckon Dean would have got who Clarence was. I think he would have at least been aware of that movie, even if he hadn't seen it..
Ah, Rudy hobbit. I've only included references that the Wiki has already listed. I'll go back and check that one. You can't remember which episode that was from do you? There are a few little corrections I'll be making to the list.
Thanks
xx
