Dean's Movie Meme

How do you rate?

Scorecard

After listing all of Dean's movie references recently I was curious to see how many of Dean's movies I've watched. I've made this for purely personal reasons, but if you are curious too you could give it a go (I am totally pinching the TV meme idea I saw going around).

Bold the ones you've seen.

Titles with 3 or more movies (James Bond, Star Wars etc) decide if you've seen enough of them to consider it a point. If there's a movie with a remake that isn't listed (i.e. The Parent Trap), either one counts.

Dean is quoted as seeing every Clint Eastwood movie. He stars in 42 movies. Include if you've seen a lot of his films (say over 20…).

I haven't seen Dirty Dancing! Well, not all of it. I've seen some scenes but I've never sat down to watch it! (I'm not into romantic films that much…;D).

91 is pretty darn good! And YES! You are Sam. I almost put that in that score actually. :D

I'm glad you enjoyed. :)

Oh that is sad…you and Dean will have trouble figuring out what to watch. You'll have to keep yourselves busy some other way…;D

And I can't get that link to work. I have no idea why. I've tried a few different combinations. Try this: http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Dean%27s_Movie_%26_TV_references (It's in Wiki's Library under Pop Culture).

So I need to do this on something other than my iPad, but I think I'm in the 105 ballpark.

And Any Which Way You Can and Every Which Way But Loose are Clint Eastwood movies. Do they get special mention because Dean specifically loves "the Clyde" movies?

Date: 2013-11-08 01:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Yes! That's why they get a special mention. :D Any movie that is specially referenced I have included them. Actually, I should have put Dr. No as that was specially referenced in the James Bond film (but forgot to…).

And yay 105! Date night! :D

wow…only 27? Now I'm curious which 27. I take it you're not into horror, action or thrillers yeah? Looks like you'll have to find something else to do with Dean…;D

I think Sam would be around 95 too. And he'd be fighting Dean over what movies to watch also. You could keep each other company. :)

From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Hmmmm, not that I came across. I only used the reference that already exist on the Wiki (didn't actually go through every transcript), so chances are it could be there somewhere. It does sound like something Dean would say, but I can't place it in my memory. Hee…and yes. fanfic and canon do get blurred. :D

(I'd love there to be an Alien reference).

111! Date night! (and yeah, I realised the JCS was a musical but I was thinking more like Mary Poppins kind of musicals). Also, I actually don't think Dean would have watched JCS - it's probably one of those instances where "superstar" is famous. I think he says "Anti-Christ Superstar" - something like that. But who knows…I put it in there anyway…;D)

Thanks so much for your help! <33

79/153 unless I get to count some Dirty Harrys and spaghetti westerns that aren't individually listed (and "It's a Wonderful Life," which I don't believe for a minute Dean wouldn't have seen, no matter what the writer of that partic episode tried to push over on us), in which case it still won't reach the next level. So Dean and I will be arguing over what movie to watch. Basically, as long as it's not a horror film, we'll do okay. :-)

Date: 2013-11-09 01:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Yeah, I didn't list all the Clint Eastwood movies - just so many. I think a few points could be added for those…;D

I also think he would have watched It's a Wonderful life. If he hasn't you can show it to him on your date night. No arguing…just make him watch it because it's a MUST SEE movie (imho).

Oh wow!! I always suspected you might be actually be Dean when it comes to movie watching!

Awesome choices for movie night at Dean's. I think that right there sums up Dean (and Show!) in a nutshell.

It would also explain how you know so many of the references when you do the episode entries on the Wiki (I assume it's you who does those?). They are so impressive. I used all the entries to compile this list and there's some serious work in each one of those posts. <33

124.

I counted The Exorcist even though I've never seen the whole thing. I watched it while babysitting alone in a big house when I was 13 (stoooopid) and about three-quarters of the way through the electricity went out, leaving me sitting alone in total darkness with no idea where the flashlights or candles were, and unable to hightail it out of there onto the lit street because I couldn't abandon the babies. There was a lot of very terrifying groping around in pitch black.

So I've never seen the end of The Exorcist, but after what I went through to see the beginning and middle, it's gotta count.

I'd totally watch the end if Dean were with me on a date though! ;)

Date: 2013-11-09 01:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Oh wow - close to my score. And same with me for The Exorcist. Actually, I watched a lot of it behind my hands so I'm not sure it really counts. I think it scarred me for life. But I'd say your experience definitely counts! How freaky! And scary….that would have been the end of me.

And Dean would totally be up for seeing you through to the end (of the movie I mean…)

86 is pretty darn good! And yes - if I had listed ALL the sequels the score would have been higher (I ended up feeling the list was long enough, but there's certainly more that I think Dean would have watched *g*).

My Score is 136/153 plus sequels, so I think this sneaks me into the You May As Well Be Dean category. Movie date with Dean - yeah, I'm up for it, especially with you there too.

I am surprised at how many people have low numbers.

Ash, I highly recommend Dogma; that was my favorite movie of the year!

Date: 2013-11-09 10:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
That's a great score! Hee…my second place score made me think that if you'd watched that many of the movies Dean references you are pretty close to being identical to Dean in his movie watching choices. WE CAN GO ON A MOVIE DATE TOGETHER WITH DEAN! \o/

I am surprised by the ones with low numbers too. Mostly because this is a genre show and being such I would have thought it would attract genre fans (many of Dean's films). But I think this show becomes more drama (and bromance) thank horror/thriller - I think that would account for it.

Thanks for the film rec. I will make sure I check it out. Hubby and I are often looking for new films to watch.

Thanks again for your help! This has been fun.

Hey! Great meme. In looking over the list of movies I noticed that you forgot the Batman movies. I think that Dean(or is it Jensen) is such a fan of Batman, it would probably be the first movie he would suggest to his date to watch. I'm a big fan of the Chris Nolan Batman verse myself. I also like the original Batman movie; the others not so much. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. :)

Hi! Yes, the Batman ones were tricky. I ended up putting them in the TV show list (on the Wiki) and not in the movie list. Though, in hindsight, I should have probably included them in the movies too because as you say, he's a fan of Batman so he would have seen them. I can update the Wiki list to include Batman movies.

Thanks :)

43...I always figured I would argue with Dean. I could probably stretch it a bit with about a third of the Clint Eastwood stuff. Hee, that means Dean watched The Bridges of Madison County. My number is probably low partly because I don't do horror other than SPN. It's fun to know that I'm at least culturally aware enough to have gotten all the references on the show. I've probably read some of what the movies were based on. I don't know if you have Rudy in the wiki list, but you know the Rudy hobbit always gets a pass. I'm going to have to go look at the wiki TV list. This is fun stuff.

Date: 2013-11-09 11:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com
Hi,

I think people with lower scores generally don't favour the horror genre and even though SPN is supposedly horror, it's not really that scary (just gory at times).

I'm at least culturally aware enough to have gotten all the references on the show.

Which is why I reckon Dean would have got who Clarence was. I think he would have at least been aware of that movie, even if he hadn't seen it..

Ah, Rudy hobbit. I've only included references that the Wiki has already listed. I'll go back and check that one. You can't remember which episode that was from do you? There are a few little corrections I'll be making to the list.

Thanks
xx
