Last Friday I had some free time and wanted to make something I could finish in a day. This has been on my mind to do for ages - but I kept putting it off because I couldn't narrow down my choices. Then I figured it didn't really matter because it's about showcasing the fact that SPN has awesome motels.

Thank you! One of the very first motel pic spams I saw (and inspired my later ones) was called "Gimme Shelter" - so I figured it would be a good song to use for this. :))

Watching the older eps is SO rewarding. There's a warmth that's nice to go back and feel (they always remind me why I feel so deeply in love with this show in the first place *g*).

Oh Lordy, some of those rooms would give a person nightmares. Of course, even if Wyeth's Western Inn just had bare concrete walls it would have been worth adding for the towel scene ;) What I find really interesting, other than the incredible decorating they've done for some of those sets, is the enormous size of the motel rooms. Obviously they can't have the boys falling all over each other to move around but are motel rooms in the US big like this or is it purely artistic licence? I stayed in a lot of motels in Australia when I was younger and the rooms were tiny and poky.

Oh yes! The rooms seemed much bigger than ones you'd actually get. And so much more interesting!

And of course I had to include the motel with the towel scene! I wanted to included the motel with wet!Jensen too but I ran out of numbers. ;)

What joy it was to look back at all these stunning motel rooms! I must admit to having a huge fondness for the rooms with murals. But I agree to your number one choice - plus the boys' reaction is just perfect!

I love this! Great choices on the rooms. It's fun to see little snips of the action because I can focus on other things than the whole big plot. I love Ava's eyeroll and the fact that the sniper bullet smashes through a blue rose. I also never paid that much attention to how Dean looks with the cattle horns in the Wyeth room. The Boogie Inn is just over-the-top awesome. Cheer in the midst of angst is also awesome. Thanks hugely.

Yay! You made it and it is awesome! You've picked out most of my faves - I think you picked the right one as #1 but my personal fave is the Aviary one in Dream a little Dream - so much going on there and the boys colour coordinated too.

I ADORE the Aviary. Personally I think it has more going on than the The Boogie Inn (and works really well into the overall story/theme), but I had to put Boogie Inn first just because it's such a classic and was the first really "out there" motel. :)) And I love how the boys react to it. :))

This is so amazing. <3333 I can't even imagine narrowing them down--I adore all their motels to pieces. (I feel like I want every single case in S10 to take place in like, Alaska, so that simply driving back to the bunker is not an option!) And I love that the motel from 1x19 is still the only oddball setting Sam and Dean have really reacted to. Too, too cute.

Also, the song choice made me really happy and then it made me really sad, which is A+++++ in my book. <3

Hi! Thank you so much. I admit to really loving the bunker when it was first introduced (because the boys initially seemed so happy there) and now it's feels like such a miserable place - full of animosity between the two of them. As much as I love the idea of them having a "home", I really miss the motels and them being on the road.

It's a very sad song - but fits the notion of the boys in constant war and needing shelter. *hugs them*

Excellent! One thing I loved in "Dream A Little Dream" was how the motel wallpaper became a vivid forest in Dean's dream. The Tiki Room is my personal favorite, because it is just so weird. But great choices!

I love the Tiki room SO MUCH! Great colours and decor (and clown like faces taunting poor Sam!). The way they used the room in Dream a Little Dream was brilliant.

#6 Is probably my favorite, it's just so UGLY! And that corn stickers on the mirror cracked me up the first time I've watched that episode, but their "huh" in #1 is priceless.
Great vid! You reminded me how much I miss the motels. We don't get enough of those since the bunker.

WHEEEEEE. \o/ Oh man, even though the Bunker is awesome and gorgeous and rich in history, I miss the motels because of allllll the reasons you have in the vid. Cool and pretty dividers! I do love the bunker (though, I'm not feeling quite as sentimental about it these days because it's now full of sad memories), but it means we see less of these wonderful motels (if I counted correctly there were only 3 last season). At least we have all these to look back on! :D
