This is my absolute favourite thing from Jared about his character: “I truly do care deeply about this show and Sam Winchester — I don’t want him to be broken down and beaten down into something I end up not respecting… I think we know the show enough and know our characters enough to know: If there’s an end coming, I think we’ll all see it.”

And this from Jensen: “We have spent probably more time with each other than any other human on the planet over the last 10 years,” Ackles noted. “If he wasn’t here, I would probably elaborate a little bit more. I’ve learned a lot from him. He is a brother on and off screen, and we’ll forever have a friendship that is a lot different than most, because it’s really truly unique because of what we’ve gone through together, and it’s been quite an amazing ride. I’m just glad we’re still trekking along.”

I think they are a major reason why the show is still going today. People fan them as much as (if not more than!) the show. It's only now I'm beginning to get really excited for S10. I mean, I'm cautious because I really don't trust Carver, but at least the Js will be on my TV and I can at least be happy with that.

It bothers me that a lot of people give Carver the credit for the ratings going up, like it had nothing to do with the move to a weekday, which has a 30% larger audience pool than Fridays. Or the fact that the show had become available on TNT and Netflix and a bunch of new fans had caught up in time to watch s8 and s9 live. So it was the first seasons that hooked these new fans, not the fact Carver had just come aboard as showrunner. And, as you guys are saying, a lot of fans are still watching because of Jensen and Jared and loyalty to a show they loved for so long. (And others like me stopped watching even if we love Jensen and Jared and had been a diehard fan since the pilot.) The cast and crew really deserve the credit, and Kripke for creating such compelling characters and casting such awesome guys they inspired such diehard loyalty long after he was gone.

This is why the J2 fandome is so attractive - even if the show wobbles a bit, the relationship those two have is so rock-solid. And I'm not really an RPF person, generally....

These two do so much to keep the fandom alive I think. If they were egotistical idiots who hated each other the show may have ended years ago. The fact they share themselves so warmly helps a lot I think. I have become such a RPF fan of late. Sam and Dean are characters I am struggling with at the moment but the Js can be written into any scenario and it's nearly always happy making. :)

You know, at this point I think eveythings been said about these gorgeous boys and their epic bromance. What is there left to say? I just can't ever see a time when they won't have a home in a little corner of my heart.


And yes, I am indeed facepalming myself for the use of 'bromance' which comes a close second to 'feels' on my, completely trivial rubbish that shouldn't bug me but holy hell it does list!

You mean S9? Um....lets just say it's a difficult season. Awesome premise, sooooo much amazing potential but.....(well, I don't want to spoil it in case you do watch it). It's great to see the Js, but be prepared for a lot of heartache. Especially in the second half. Probably my least favourite season ever. Though I've seen some say it's their favourite. So I suppose it's a matter of choice (Sam fans did it the toughest I think...)

I'm guessing you meant "Sam fans had it the hardest"--which is what I was afraid of. I love Sam and Dean equally, but I'm more afraid for Sam in Carver's hands. I just can't trust Carver, which is why I stopped watching. I used to approach every episode with joyous anticipation, but that turned to wary dread at the beginning of season 8. Your post made me realize how much I miss them though, so I guess I'll have to grow a pair and don a jockstrap and dive back into the fray!
