The 200th will be soon upon us!
Nov. 11th, 2014 08:34 pmI can't deny it - I'm kind of terrified for the 200th episode. It could either be amazingly awesome (maybe fun with a dose of much need character insights) or it could be horribly awkward. I'm going to be watching it with fans so I think that will make it fun no matter what. :)
I am extremely proud that it's done so well and made it this far. There's been many ups and downs along the way but I do think there's a lot of heart in the show. Even now.
I've been building my/our list of 200 reasons to love Supernatural. We're getting there! Some are doing a much better job and have already got 200!

Hope you all enjoy it!! Catch ya on the flip side.

Date: 2014-11-11 03:02 pm (UTC)I really can see his point. To us, we like the brothers' relationship issues, we like the MOTW episodes, looking for John, the deals made etc. But I've been thinking a lot over the past few days what it must be like for the lead actors. I now feel that had the show continued the kinds of things from 1-5 the show would have been cancelled by now. The stories would have begun to look tired and repetitive. The show's success relies on Jared and Jensen more than even the writing. It's their fabulous chemistry and their enthusiasm.
If things had kept on the same path it travel for the first five years, I think both Jared and Jensen would have started to get bored which would come through in their performances which would end up like them phoning it in. I have to give credit to Carver for writing stories that the boys can really sink their teeth into and extend their professional range. As actors, I can't think of anything that would be more exciting.
We've had enormous amounts of tension almost destroying the brothers' relationship. We've had Sam being pulled back into a semi-normal life, and Dean forging friendships that are grey area while Dean has always been black and white. We've had Dean doing the unthinkable and tricking his brother with possession, and living like a nervous wreck for months because of the strain. We had the major fallout that pushed the boys further apart than they've ever been, Jared getting to play Sam and Ezekiel/Gadreel simultaneously, and Dean walking the dark path culminating in him becoming what he would ordinarily kill. All of this must have been so exciting and challenging for them as actors. Instead of the show becoming drudge work for them (which happens with any job people are in for many years) it has been exciting and new for them, almost constantly. There is nothing better for an actor than to feel constantly challenged. The happier the actors are, the more enthusiastic they are, and we reap the benefits by getting them still feeling fresh and dynamic, and wanting the show to go on longer. So in terms of running things successfully, I think Carver is wanting the stars to feel challenged and enthusiastic, and I think it has worked well.
