I do have some misgivings, especially after the mid-season finale turned out to be the Crowley-and-Castiel show, but I can't honestly be disappointed that we get another year of Sam and Dean (+ J2 shenanigans).

Yes. I think that's why I have mixed feelings. I feel the show will be giving the boys more time off. They seem to be developing other characters much more than they used to, so I think it may be more and more ensemble than just featuring the brothers (which, it's been for a few seasons now anyway). I miss those early days, but I understand why they need an easier schedule.

Seriously. By now I've become very very adept at multi-tasking while watching SPN. Thanks to VLC's "always on top" (heh) option, I can make the window smaller and look at something else when I need to tune out.

Not unrelatedly, I just finished rewatching Return of the King for the nth time, in which Frodo tells Sam at the end that Sam's part in the story will go on. I'm all for stories going on, but if secondary characters are starting to get more screen time than the supposed leads, then maybe it's time to give them their spinoff and let the original show end (as much as I hate to admit it) while it still somewhat resembles itself. (Theoretically, I can be on board with the idea of an angels+demons spinoff in which Sam and Dean occasionally appear as guest characters and I can watch their scenes on youtube instead of suffering through entire episodes!)

*nods* I would love to seem them spin the angels and demons off and Sam and Dean appear occasionally - as long as they don't call it Supernatural. After 10.09 I wondered if we had started to watch the spin off actually…

I loved Jensen's idea of actually putting the show on the road. Travel around - really take the show on the road. I suspect it would be a technical nightmare, but refreshing - even if only for a handful of episodes.

I'm not super happy, but part of me is glad. Part of me wishes they could end it on S10, to wrap it up neatly and give us closure at the end. And I'm a little worried that they'll run out of things to make us excited about :( They almost lost me during S9, and again during this season. I guess I'm just saying yay, but I hope the quality of the writing/storylines will get better.

Still love the show though, and I'm always happy for there to be more Sam & Dean :)

Though I'm not positive about what they'll do with Sam and his hair, I'm happy that I get to see those two pretty faces in one screen for another year.

I'm hoping that with a new season they'll FIX SAM'S HAIR!!! homg, I don't think I can take another season of the smoothed down bob. It seems like they go for a new look each season so at least we have another one to improve it! (because of course these things are very important in the scheme of things....*g*)

Yeah, I'm mixed too. First time in forever. Normally I'm very excited, but I feel like I've been a little burned recently so I'm worried about the future. I'm thrilled to have the chance to see the boys on the screen some more though. I just hope they do find something interesting to do with them (and not continual secrets and mistrust).

Fresh ideas would be awesome! I really think they're tying themselves down with the continued angel and demon dramas. Unless they can do something very different with them it's going to continue to get stuck on the same note. Though, I have a feeling Carver loves this kind of story telling (if Bloodlines is anything to go by) so more of the same is what we'll probably be getting I'm afraid.

Still, we'll see, They might have a new show runner or employ a fresh new writer. *hopes*

I'm pleased everyone still has work, I'm delighted the network still has faith in the show, but (yes, you know there's always a 'but' in there somewhere) I wish they'd be bold and take the show in a new direction with some fresh blood in the writing/creative production. Far too many bits are looking jaded, over used and cliched, time to shake things up a little, inject some new dramas rather than brother conflict and did deep into their horror/menace roots.

You know that old saying? Lasts as long as a soap opera, has storyline from a soap opera, my, is that the fabric softener teddy bear I smell?

That would be so exciting. Some fresh blood would be great. I'd love to see it return with some real horror elements. Miiiiiight happen. Hard to say at this stage. There's a couple I hope we don't lose (well, mainly Rob Berens) but there's definitely some that could more along...;)

there are 2 options that apply to me:Ok, im pleased but not screaming at the roof tops about it, Mixed/conflicted feelings, as you know, im on break from spn, i dont know how to feel exactly about this news except the 2 options that apply to me. i'll continue to grade the eps as they come along and i'll probably be back for season 11.maybe i'll just watch for the pretty. i dont trust the writers, things may or may not change the way they are now and my faith is lost

Okay, scattershot answer.

I picked "Other" BECAUSE:

-The show is no longer the one I loved. It's changed in tone and writing; I far prefer the execution, pre-Carver. (And arguably the look in earlier seasons, that dark creepy grittiness, is sorely missed.) I still like the show zealously, just not loooooove it.

-However, I AM glad it's back, because we get more of the guys and their off-screen shenanigans and convention fun! I'm still watching the show, just not with the anticipation and investment I once had.

-Fresh canon. Double-edged sword, I know, but it gives us new stuff to fic and art about. \O/

-Hope springs eternal! I'm like Pavlov's dog; I still hope to see bits that will give me that heart-wrenching, id-tickling stuff that made me fall in love with the show in the first place. And it does happen, so here I am. Still on board. Yup.


That came off dowdier than I really feel, because I AM happy it's back! Steady acting jobs are a rarity, and no other show has hit all my buttons like SPN. None will likely again. So in closing: Rock on, little show that could! *ruffles its hair*

I said "Seriously?" but I'm sad about it. I still love SamandDean at their best (and also their minimally healthy state, I'm not demanding). I miss their faces and voices. I just hate what the people in charge of their story have done. And in order to write a story I deeply care about where they do have a healthy relationship, even with struggles, I can't watch what they've become in canon. :/ (Except for a few select eps that those I trust say are worth it.)

I hear ya! When I first heard the news I had a similar reaction. I just don't trust this group with the characters like I used to. At times they are people I just don't recognise as the ones I fell in love with. Though, occasionally, we see glimpses and I continue to live for those. Lets of S11 means even more of them. :)

I'm just sorry about the crappy writers SPN is stuck with, and their palpable disrespect for the Winchesters, their past, the show's canon, and their non-recognition of Sam and Dean's importance to Supernatural.
I always get the feeling that the guest stars are preferred to S&D.

My wish is, if the eleventh is the last, that we get a flash-back season, going back to the roots. Maybe the Js could make a little sacrifice for the last season, giving us just the two of them for most of each episode, as it used to be in the first three wonderful seasons.

Added to this, the complete banishment of all angels, including Castiel. I fast-forward his scenes every-time. They are just so boring and repetitive, not worth my time.

It would be absolutely wonderful. I hunger to see more urban legends - and just the two of them fighting them. *sigh* Sadly we'll never see that again. It seems they're keen on creating an ensemble cast now. I know some love that, but it's not really for me. I don't mind some of the recurring characters at all - but there's some I wish didn't recur quite so much.

Oh well. It's about enjoying what we can these days I think....;)
