What did ya think of that one?

[Poll #1998747]

I felt like I had been transported back in time (it reminded me of Hookman and Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things). Aside from the lol!canon with them talking about what Dean would do if he died and Sam drove the car (because - um, he's actually already done that. Twice I think), it was the kind of episode that reminded me of why I fell in love with this show in the first place. Clever Sam, food loving!Dean, brothers working seamlessly together, a MoTW that subtly reflected the boys situation, LOTS of SamnDean, heaven and hell free and a fun (and rather modern!) twist on a ghost. Damn you SPN! Stop dragging me back in! (or not. I love it when I love it...*g*).

I like all of those things too! Brother moments, the Impala, them working together, many scenes together, the good old basic 'Dean likes food, checks out women'... I want more o *that*. I just - I disliked the concept, but more than that, I can pretty much always tell episodes by these writers, since I always find them offensive and poorly written... had this been written by somebody else I'd probably have enjoyed it much much more.

ah - offensive because Dean was checking out women? Or? (just curious…)

No, this episode I knew was their s when I had to pause it cause I was so uncomfortable with the way they portrayed both 'kids today' and 'gen-xes', just ugh. That was just so. Ugh. This time it was groups in society that it's not yet - popular - to make a big deal out of this sort of writing towards. Not always the case, but pretty much always it's someone with them.

Ah. Hee, I'm probably too out of it to know how accurate that was (though the selfie was pretty accurate if watching my daughter is anything to go by…).

But yeah, this show does caricatures more that real life so it's not surprising (I think…).

I''ll allow myself to copy what I wrote elsewhere -
Robbie made some age jokes on Fan Fiction that I didn't like but at least were... IDK, loving, more clever.... this was just bad. I hate "oh, teens are so stupid/shallow/television teens", you know? I don't know anyone like that.. Especially jokes about technology and the generation gap. And I hate jokes about Dean's age, cause I feel they hit too close to home, and I'm worried about the show's longevity and so forth. One of my favorite artists is David Bowie, and I saw (a bit of) what it did to him when all the world suddenly decided he was old, and instead of asking him about his career everyone started asking him about his age. He really tried to handle it well, and he's one of the stronger public figures I've seen deal with that, and he broke and stopped publishing anything for about ten years. That's horrible, and it matters. That needs to stop. It's definitely not worth some bad jokes. I love that the show has gone on so long that the network suddenly has a show like this, with people olde than 27. It's awesome. And I like that it makes people uncomfortable enough to feel they need to comment, but the comments are meant to other, to control the situation, to make this show the exception, to hurt. I hate that.
