Cain's hair! All the emotions, Dean admitting to Sam that he's scared. Cas's blade slipping out of his sleeve when Cain threatens Dean, Cain's curse (all I could think was yay! Now we know Dean won't kill Sam cuz Cain says he will!) and Sam's last line speaking volumes in his facial expressions if not the actual words, mirroring all of Dean's facial expressions earlier so we can really SEE how these guys are suffering, even if they don't talk about it.

Also Rowena. She is just wonderful! I could listen to her all day!

Haha! Cain't hair was epic!!! I loved Cain - Timothy O was perfect. So commanding and convincing as Cain.

It was a solid episode. The directing was outstanding, as were the performances. There was a lot going on. I think it's going to take me a while to absorb it all…

Great episode. The only thing that didn't work for me were the Crowley/Rowena scenes. This storyline is soooo boring.
But yes, it was an great episode, the music score and the cinematography were fantastic, and long live to Timothy Omudson's awesomness (beard, hair, talent, eveyrthing)

This was my feeling too, about Rowena and Crowley. And I love those characters! Honestly, Mark Sheppard seemed really lifeless in this episode, not sure why. But that's my only major gripe. Apart from that...KITTENS AND ICE-CREAM AND CHAMPAGNE AND WARM CUDDLES!

Yes, it was a very strong episode. :) the Crowley/Rowena scenes didn't interest me that much either. I think Rowena adds a nice spark - and the actors have a nice chemistry -, but I do find myself switching off in those scenes.

I have to admit the music kind of bothered me - as in, I really noticed it. I'm not exactly sure why. During the fight scene it felt incongruous to what was on the scene. Almost like elevator music in a fight scene. I'll have to watch it again because there's been a lot of praise for the music and I figure that's because it was going something deliberate. I don't know. I'm still trying to work it out. I've never noticed the music as much as I did in this episode.

Timothy O was outstanding. He really made this episode for me. He was mesmerising. :)

First time this season I checked the first choice on your poll. I loved this episode for the boys and the point made they would stop at nothing for each other. I've missed these Winchesters.

The angels/demons/witches were only a blip on my screen, not paying them much attention lately but even they can't influence my adoration for Sam and Dean right now. Berens outdid himself for brother fans.

Looks like the big bads are finally coming into play in the coming epis, about time!

So the big bads are the witches? Interesting that they seem more of a threat to Crowley than the to the world and the brothers but I suppose they could open that up to include all that too.

I do like Beren's and the way he is good on characterisations. Cain was fantastic and even though Sam hasn't really been included this season, it was great to see him at least give him an emotional note. :)

It's the first time in a long time I've gone for awesome. I will admit that I don't like the Rowena/Crowley scenes, but for the promise of Crowley returning to dark, I will forgive it. I thought Timothy Omundsen kicked it out of the park as Cain. Now, I want some real darkness to descend when the hiatus is over - some evil Crowley and some Sam going dark for Dean along with MOC Dean would do nicely.

I liked most of it, I did. But I remembered I'd forgotten to do something during the longest Crowley-Rowena scene. I didn't bother to pause the feed while I took care of it, and missing whatever part of that scene didn't bother me a bit.

Cain was spectacular, though. And I couldn't take my eyes off either Dean or Sam throughout.

LOL, I agree with all of those who are mentioning Cain's hair. This episode was pretty intense IMO. Dean admitting to Sam that he's scared, his reaction when Cain tells him he's going to end up killing Sam, Sam hugging Dean and Dean just falling into him.... GUH so many emotions.

And the end, with Sam telling Cas that Dean's in trouble. :( I am kind of scared that Dean will try and kill Sam at the end of the season, though I really, really hope not. They've cheated destiny before, so I'm hoping that if it ever gets to that point, it'll be like Swan Song when Samifer was being up Dean and then Sam broke through.

Cain's hair was incredible! I'd say that would be Sam in a few years, but I don't think Jared's hair is as thick as Timothy's.

Yes. reminded me of Dean confessing he was scared of dying in S3. I think we've seeing quite the mirror of S3 actually.

I am kind of scared that Dean will try and kill Sam at the end of the season, though I really, really hope not.

I can't see it happening. If it goes to "plan" he has to kill Crowley (which I think will happen) and Cas (which won't happen). I think it will end with an attempt to kill Cas actually. They may drag this on through S11 so that will be where they tackle Dean killing Sam.

And you want to know a secret? I would love for Dean to kill Sam (mostly because it would be great for a vid I want to make!), but also because it would be so damn powerful. I also think it's the thing that would "cure" Dean. If Cain said he's doing the journey in reverse then killing Sam mean's he'll be back to who he was before he got the mark. And as there's no way Sam will stay dead it might mean a new beginning for both of them. Who knows though. I suspect Sam will have to do something "dark" in order to save Dean. Which I don't want but if this is mirroring S3 and then season will be S4. So, dark Sam. But I can't even speculate any more to be honest. I liked that this ep opened up some new possibilities.

So strong! Slightly light on Sam, for I'll forgive that because I adored that end scene, with Sam seeing straight through all of Dean's bravado. Heartbreaking in a beautiful way.

They're hinting at future dark Crowley and I'm ready for that. I'm more excited and more nervous about the future than ever before, but boy, am I looking forward to it!

So glad you are! I will be too as soon as they can give us 1 Sam episode. Just one and I think I'll be on board. Perhaps they are saving it for the next part of the season...:)

Yes! I loved this episode! Jensen's performance was outstanding. Jared was great as well. And I loved the music they used, as it helped make it pretty darn epic. ;)

I voted Ok, it was, but it could have been so much more. Once again, I'm left feeling that there were so many missed opportunities to really get to grips with what's happened and yet they didn't, so I'm left thinking that season 8 and 9 and their huge upsets have been shallowly glossed over. It's too late, every time Dean says he wants to go on with his life of hunting as long as he can and go down swinging (again) I'm left with the bitter taste that Sam doesn't. Or does he now? What does Sam want, does any one care? I'm not really sure what either of them really want, but one sided viewing isn't fair.

The bare bones were there, but the execution, the reactions, the depths? Phht, Gone. But is Cain? Not like them to let a huge FX opportunity slip past, things never die that quietly on SPN.

I am kind of full of bitterness that it's impossible for me to watch any mytharc ep and not come away upset. And not the kind of "feels" upset. The upset that makes me want to rage quit. I can't though. *sigh*. I just have to hang in there for some reason. But this season is making a mockery of everything that has gone before. Sam's story has been completely erased and Dean seems to be on this journey of redemption without even knowing what he needs to redeem himself from.

I seem to have quite a lot to say about this ep, so maybe I'll put it in a post (where it can be behind a cut).

I'm actually halfway between pretty good and epic. Cain and his hair = epic. Crowley and Rowena - pending judgement on those two at the moment, and that bit was ok but not great. I'm waiting to make sure that they aren't dumbing Crowley down completely via that storyline before deciding if I like it or not.

But unlike last week's I really want to watch this one again!

I don't think they're dumbing down Crowley. I think they might be building it all up to something where Dean is forced to kill him. I do think Crowley, as a character in the show, has come to end so if he turns completely evil (again) it will be to drive his ultimate death. Whereas Cain predicted Cas's death - but that won't happen, so I figure that will be about preventing Dean from doing that. (and, um, Cas is apparently the Colette parallel. I'm starting to believe the advertising I think ;D)

I kind of feel like Frodo in that the Shire has been saved but not for me. Yes, the episode was shot well, yes Cain's hair is lovely and he had gravitas. The american flag on the barn was cool. The big reveal though that Dean is supposed to kill Sam? If that was obvious to me when Dean got the Mark, what about these hunters, angels and demons with all this lore or just pure intuition? How could I have gotten so cynical about this and still love the show. It's like I still love this show because it's been this big piece of my life but basically we're staying together for the kids or nostalgia or because I'm in denial. I am so bummed out that this episode did nothing much to pull me back in especially since it worked so well for so many people. If this one didn't do it for me, I'm pretty much never going to get it back, am I? Last season did so much to wreck the connection I had with Dean that now even when he does something he should be doing like admitting he's scared, I'm just watching a great bit of emoting by Jensen. I might have a better connection with the show if they let me get inside Sam's head and feel things from his point of view but he's as much of an enigma as ever and he's as much of a bystander at this point as I am. Geez, I am so friggin' depressed.

The cinematography was lovely in this episode. It was well directed (though the music score took me out of a couple of moments).

I am so bummed out that this episode did nothing much to pull me back in especially since it worked so well for so many people.

That's totally me too. I am so happy for those it worked for. I wished it had been me. I desperately want to care again - or not be left feeling so empty afterwards. I can enjoy the non myth arc eps, but these ones just kill me. Sam is completely ignored while Dean has so many emotional notes is dizzying. And I am beginning to resent Dean and I HATE that show is doing that to me. I've been wanting to see this from Dean for a while, but he's still not getting the point. I can't tell if that's deliberate - because the show still has more seasons to go, or is they truly can't a see that it's not about Dean being brave or having to kill Sam or having to fight his inner self. Sure, it's all of those things but Dean will won't learn that he can't make decisions for other people and expect no consequences. And until Dean at least acknowledges that trait nothing will change for him (again, quite possibly the point).

So yeah. I keep hoping these big episodes give us something on Sam. But there's just nothing there. It's making me so sad. Every other character has had emotional story lines - Cole, Cas, Crowley, Rowena, Charlie - all except Sam. I just don't know why (and sadly, they'll no doubt make Sam go dark side to save Dean and that is something I just don't think I could bear. THough, at least it might give him something to do.

Plot, photos and general filming was great! Acting wasn't, except Timothy's, who saved me from suffocating in the others' pathos. Also, I think I'm beginning to get a gag reflex at the sight of Rowena, and especially at Crowley with Rowena...

The moment when Dean gives the Blade to Castiel instead of Crowley goes straight to the Canon Hall of Awesome. I was all happily jaw-dropped, and I'm not even such a big fan of Castiel (name me rather a disappointed wannabe fan of Castiel).

There was a lot of great things. Though you're the first one to say the acting wasn't…;) I've been seeing through the acting for a while now, but that's just me. Timothy's was a stand out though. :)

And I'm curious why Dean giving the blade to Cas is Canon Hall of Awesome? I might be missing some great significance here? I thought it was a good move (and made total sense). It's a turning point for Crowley I suspect - realising Dean really doesn't trust him. Though I have no idea why he thought he would. Crowley is a demon after all…

Unfortunately, I've long lost my love for Castiel. That's simply because I can't figure out why he's still there. I mean, I know fandom would explode if they did actually kill him off, but in their effort to keep him around the story lines are constantly clogged up. Again, that's a personal opinion. I know many love Cas and for them I am pleased they are still finding things for him to do. :)
