Hey guys. I need some advice from anyone savvy with the technical aspects of LJ.

I was looking through my Motels and Accommodations posts and noticed that all the entires are messed up - in terms of the formatting. It's annoying because I remember when I posted them (all those years ago) they looked fine, but now the formatting is all over the place. When I made them I used tables so I could control where the images and text was (centred, neat, in block text etc). I think, when LJ went to their mobile version, everything got skewed.

The advice I need is on how to fix it. How do people go about formatting complicated image and text posts these days (though I suspect the answer is - nobody does!). I am thinking I probably need to create all the information in Photoshop and post as one big image (or several blocks of pre-formatted images)?? Or maybe there's a more basic form of formatting I could use? I have a mix of small and large pictures and text I want in blocks.

I am inspired to fix them (somehow) and hopefully update the resource to include Season 8-11. :)

Thanks if anyone has some ideas. <33

ETA: From the comments below it seems like it depends on the browser. Firefox is fine but maybe other browsers aren't? I use Safari and Google Chrome and they look yuk. Why the difference?! Stoopid technology...

Um, it all looks perfect still to me, maybe it's not the coding but an individual personal layout? Have you looked at them in the basic 'light format'?

Ah... Hmm, maybe it's the way I'm looking at it then? I'll check on another browser (it does look fine on my iPad, but not the computer...)
Thanks for checking. <3

Everything looks fine in the posts. It's all nice and neat and centered.
Maybe it's the browser you're using? It looks alright in Firefox.

That's so curious. Thank you for checking! Maybe it is the browser I'm using. On my iPad it looks fine, but on the computer the images are all over the place. It would be so good if I didn't have to change it.

thank you!

I'm back! You're right - it looks fine in firefox, just not Safari and Chrome. So maybe I better not change it...

It looks okay in Safari on my layout.

The short version of how you would lay a post like that out in a responsive way is that you would use divs. It would be a heck of a lot of work, though, and I think you'd still have different people's layouts to contend with.

Thanks! I'm not sure what divs are but if there's a lot of work involved I'll probably just leave it. Many of the responses is that the layouts look fine on other computers. Just not mine it would seem.

Thanks hun.

I just had a quick look and seaons 1 & 2 look perfect but Wallpapers & Murals is askew - there are a couple of pics that don't display and some text runs really wide across my page. I was using Chrome and a 13" macbook, if that makes any difference. But I have noticed that quite a few websites either don't work or are really glitchy with Chrome, and work perfectly in Safari.

Thanks for taking a look. That's how they all look on my computer - through Safari and Chrome. So weird. But others assure me they look fine - so I'll probably just leave them.

I looked randomly at a couple of the entries and they look fine in IE. I wonder if this has something to do with how browsers handle html. I did a quick google search using 'table html code chrome' and it seems like there are differences on interpreting the cell width in different browsers. I don't know how you've coded the tables, but looking at some of the google results from that query may help.

Hey. Thanks so much for checking that out. It's all very weird - but I think I'll just leave it as most people have reported it's fine. What it will mean is the next ones I do I'll format differently.

Thanks again.
