Quick question.....

I know this is a long shot..... but..... does anyone know if some wonderful fan has ever produced mock ups of The Supernatural Books - the books that appear in the show? I know we see some front covers in the episodes, but I'm curious (and it would save me a tremendous amount of potential work!) if someone had played around with this...

Otherwise... *meep* looks like I have some new skills to learn..... (if I go ahead with this crazy little vid idea..)


Also, I'm thinking of meta'ing (I know, someone stop me!) about Dean and eating - but I'm pretty sure this must have been talked about some where? If anyone has links to anything like that I would be curious.

I'm feeling very curious today it would seem...

Yeah - I'm a teacher, so we get a 6 week summer break (I'm also in Aus, so it's summer now!)

It's such a great long, much needed break - just enough to recoup for the next year of teaching.... :)

Since making my last vid my thoughts have turned to reasons why Dean eats and why eating is not such a big deal to Sam.

You would be more eloquent in expressing your thoughts that than me, that's for sure *g*... though I was thinking I might try may hand had adding pictures.... something else I've not done before.. :) But we'll see...

Not nearly as eloquent as you are in expressing your ideas in vids! I think we were pondering it on different tracks anyway. I definitely thought of your vid but also Liz Lemon of 30 Rock. I was actually pondering the issue of "permission" when it comes to food which, like sex, is something our culture is very schizophrenic about. We are constantly being sold both, yet we're supposed to feel ashamed of those impulses as well and keep ourselves in a state of deprivation.

I know I've seen discussions about the food issue regarding Sam and Dean but not a post focusing on that topic. I do know that in addition to the childhood scenes we've had in the show there was also a scene in the comics about Dean making grilled cheese sandwiches, Sam wanting more to eat and Dean being angry with him as their father hadn't eaten yet (and I think maybe Dean himself was also still hungry).

Firstly thank you - I certainly find adding clips together easier that adding sentences together!

And what a fascinating topic that would be to explore. It's very true. And I like your comparison between sex and food - I'd be interested if you wrote something like that. :)

I was thinking along the line of Dean being an opportunity eater, snagging food where he can and linking that to their up bringing and also the role food plays to comfort him. Something that struck me looking at all those clips together was how content Dean seems when chowing down. So yeah - that's where my brain was going. :)

I've started writing some stuff, but man! It's hard. Give me an empty time line over an empty page any day.

I now just have to figure out how to make a picspam. Starting with how to screencap, though I think I may have that sussed out...
