Sherlock Holmes was good? We are going to see it next weekend I think, but I must admit I'm a big fan of the books and a classical interpretation such as Jeremy Brett so I do have my reservations about a 'Hollywood' version.

Glad you have had a fab Christmas:)

OMG! Jude Law's Watson was inspired. I confess to never really being a JL fan, but this might just have turned me around.\o/ :D

For me, Sherlock Holmes was awesome. Better than I expected. I could rave on and on about it but as you haven't seen it so I won't. :)

I will be really, really keen to know what you think of it especially as a fan of the books. It felt pretty faithful to me (it was certainly Hollywood, but the story or characters weren't neglected). But I might be biased because I was swooning over RDJ & JL's performances and Guy Ritchie's direction. :D

Hee! Yep Avatar was a real let down for me. And my credit card.... *sigh* I knew that was coming....

But seeing Sherlock Holmes made me forget all about that!!!! :D \o/

Ah. Yes. Well. I sincerely hope so. If I can pull them off. The graphics will be for a vid idea I have. The vid itself will be ridiculously difficult to make (technically), so it will just depend if I can pull the whole thing off.

Hee! Watch this space...... ;)

The only good thing about GI Joe was that I was able to catch up on some much needed sleep! :p
What didn't you like about Avatar? I just saw it myself and whilst once is maybe enough, I thought it was good. I thought the effects were pretty spectacular.

Hee! My nephews were watching GI Joe on Christmas Day and I sat down and started watching it. I really enjoyed it for the sheer action and fun. But then, I'm a bit of a sucker for those kinda films. (And yet I really didn't like Terminator Salvation).

Hmmm .... Avatar. You know, I find it difficult to articulate what it was I didn't like about it. Mostly I was just bored. I really just didn't engage with it. The story bothered me as well. I'm not sure if I'm just over the kind of human comes in to save native tribe thing or the love story. I was moved by its acknowledgment of corporate greed and lack of interest or understanding of native cultures and its referencing to the "War on Terror" etc., but I was also felt it kinda romanticised those issues somewhat. I was disappointed with the "happy ending" as well, because really there isn't a happy ending when it comes to the way we are screwing up the planet. I think it would have left a far greater impact if the humans had won. Like we do.

See what I mean? I can't really articulate it. I didn't like Titanic either - and I know a lot of people loved that. It might just be a genre thing... or a James Cameron thing...*shrugs*

No doubt the effects were spectacular. The 3D was stunning and I really felt like I was part of that world. I did love that about it.

Sorry - I blabbed. I've been analysing this film too much I think....
