There's really so much to say about that episode and I really look forward to all the meta (because I know you all will have AMAZING things to say about it) but..

For me...

Wee!Sam dancing in the fireworks to" Knocking on Heaven's Door" (which I vidded to at the end of the Season 3 - and to that wonderful version! \o/)... just... OMG.. I may never feel such glee again... I just. <333333 (I have hoped SO MUCH that they would team Colin Ford with Jensen somehow... and they DID!!!!! OH SHOW!!! I HEART YOU!!!

That episode was surreal, perfect, painful, joyful, achy, thinky... It was everything Winchester.

More than that though. They actually went there!. They dared to be surreal and leap about. Explore (and mess with) their childhood memories. Actually show us how much they mean to each other... "you and me against the world..."!!!! <3333 there's a song and a crack vid in there I'm sure of it...

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY DO WITH ALL THIS! The build up to the finale feels so.. *guh*.... it's kinda killing me.

It's late and I'm tired and somewhat flaily, so I'm struggling to say anything that's really coherent.. but. YAY! Show. You even gave me Ash and Pamela back... You love me as much as I love you don't you?

I have some stuff I want to say about how I actually watch this show... but that's for another day. ;)

The episode broke me. Truly. The fireworks scene alone...

Read my LJ. :-) I can't go into it again. But that scene has become one of my favs over five seasons.

Devastating.

It was incredible wasn't it? I look forward to reading what you say about it...

It ended up being so late last night by the time I finished watching it, I didn't get a chance to read what a lot of people were saying. Though I got the idea it was truly loved...

*hugs*

My face is all hot just from watching that episode - omg there was sooooo much in there - it's gonna take a few rewatches (if my heart can stand it - it hurts!). That scene with young Sammy in the fireworks - so heartwarming it brings tears (does that make sense?). Can I count that as one of Sammy's memories too? Pretty please? I know it's a stretch but I felt really bereft for Dean during his realisation about Sam's memories. I KNOW some of Sam's "greatest hits" must have Dean in them - I just know it. I really don't mind if someone wants to do a remix of those scenes.

Is this what Jensen means when he talks about Dean having to hit rock bottom before making his way back with his brother?

ASH!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU! He was just beyond awesome wasn't he? Absolutely fantastic and Chad just nailed it. So good.

Zach - turning out to be the best villian I LOVE to hate. Loved his opening lines about the boys thinking outside the box.

Ok - I'm gonna go now before I flail about some more. Just - UGH! How can show be so perfectly adorable and heartwarming and yet hurt so bad? I think the writers are on some sort of mood swing inducing cocktail of drugs. It's good. They should take some more - with the one condition - that they fix our boys. Eventually. One day. Please make it sooner rather than later.

Hee! I just love the flaily responses everyone has had to this episode. As well as everything else it was brilliant that it's been able to do that...

Zach - turning out to be the best villian

Oh I love him! (Bit the way I loved Gordon)... he is so nasty. And the fact that he's an angel make it even better. :D

Just - UGH! How can show be so perfectly adorable and heartwarming and yet hurt so bad?

I think indeed is the question! It likes to twist the knife in doesn't it. Damn, wonderful show!! :D

Yeah - I wasn't able to watch this until quite late and it definitely requires a re-watch or 3. I had my mouth agape through the beginning of it... just seeing Sam shot and seeing Dean's reaction had me numb... and then the fireworks... *guh*

So much awesome. And then the amulet... :(((((

I'm gutted, ash. Gutted! The firworks scene, all the boys' memories, and you could see simultaneously how much they love each other and they were hurting each other. *flails* Show did so, so good but damn it hurt.

It seems to be what Show does best. Fill our hearts, stab them with a knife and then twist it.

Damn wonderful Show.

I'm so full of this episode, of all the many different feelings I have. FANTASTIC just FANTASTIC.

This epi was so frigging AWESOME!!!!

And I leave the coherent speech to others, I'm in no mood or state of mind to turn my brain on...*shakes computer with emotion overload*

(And I had such a shitty day before I started watching this epi, what a turn around!)

YES I was very excited to see Ash back after so long. I've never understood why they killed him off so dismissively early on in the show...he had the potential to be a great recurring character. I adored him from the line about his awful haircut "all business up front, party in the back" lol. Then again, they didn't make much use of Ellen and Jo after s2 either, which always surprised me since they could have added a lot as family fill-ins.

That said...can someone explain exactly what made them flail about this latest episode? Everyone on my flist is spazzing out over it and I feel like I missed something. I enjoyed it well enough (Castiel on the TV was hilarious and then the final scene with Dean and Cas losing faith was heartbreaking and beautifully done) but overall I didn't think it was one of the best. As far as recent eps go, I was much more into "Sam, Interrupted."

They have a tendency to do that with many wonderful characters. No idea why. It irks a lot of fans. I'm not sure if they do it to prove how truly alone in the world the boys are or if they like it for dramatic effect. Either way, I wish they never killed off Ash.

can someone explain exactly what made them flail about this latest episode?

Hee! It's kinda weird isn't it - when there's a mass flailing on an episode..

I can only speak for myself but I suspect a lot of it comes down to the fact that they explored the boys past. Their childhood. As you would know fans spend a lot of time speculating and writing about what their childhood would have been like, so to see it on the screen it something to squee about.

And to have such powerful scenes. Seeing what Dean remembers (mostly moments with Sam) and seeing what Sam remembers (mostly moments when he's escaped from his family) is heart wrenching.

But it's more than that. This was an emotional journey episode. It was about Sam and Dean. Not just them hunting a supernatural being. It was an episode that gave us more insight into who they are and what's (probably) going to be important as we head to the finale. And the return to the amulet was very potent. The emotional connection we (as fans) have to it is something else that could have everybody squeeing...

Personally I loved the surreal quality of it.

Oh wow. Sorry to blab so much. It was a great question and I think I'm trying to understand for myself why I loved it so much.

xx

Oh yes indeed!! A perfect connection. (I ADORED that picture).

It's funny that I do watch and think - oh that would be awesome in a vid and I do have an appreciation for the way they actually film the show. (I love that they seemed to really push the boundaries sometimes). But I've been recently thinking about how I watch Supernatural so differently (in terms of my emotional connection) to any other television show. It's almost like watching through the so called "rose coloured glasses". I am curious if it's the same for everyone else.

I am still not over the fireworks scene. It's been two days now. You'd think I'd be able to move past it, but no. It's my current s5 favorite. Smiling, happy Winchesters own my heart. ♥
