I haven't written anything about the last episode. I liked it. Ok, it didn't send me into raptures like a couple of the recent episodes did, but I can't (and don't) expect that from every episode. By the way it started I thought it was going to be a run of the mill MoTW episode and couldn't believe they'd do that so close to the end. Though I liked the prospect of a "less heavy" episode. I was happy that I got a bit of both.

Sad to see Richard as the Trickster/Gabriel go. He brought a lovely energy to the screen. But I'm getting pretty used to wonderful characters leaving us, so it was probably no surprise.

It kinda felt a little bit "messy", but overall I enjoyed it. Good to see the boys working more comfortably together. I know there's been a lot of discussion about the other Gods etc. I won't weigh into that. I actually liked the idea. It might not have been executed as well has it could have been, but I did like the idea.

I am pretty much unspoiled for future eps. Except - damn those enticing final ep photos around!!! I tried. I did. (luckily they weren't too spoilery..)

Now a couple of recs:

O.M.G This fic! I cannot gush about this enough. It's Restraint by [livejournal.com profile] emeraldsedai. It is absolutely stunning. I am not a historical romance reader, however when you have the Js cast in the lead roles it becomes very enticing. So I thought I'd give it a go. Everything about it is wonderful - the language, the plot, the characters, the situations, the friggin' AMAZING UST, the writing

It's long and I haven't been able to find time to sit and read it so I've been listening to the podfic. It's read impeccably by [livejournal.com profile] pandarus (fayjay). Honestly, her voice and characterisations are so perfect.

If you have a chance you really need to give this a go. It's incredibly satisfying. (It's a WIP, but I believe it's nearly finished \o/)

And this vid. It's by lucaszd88. It's called "We Cannot Save them All". It's haunting and has been playing in my mind ever since I saw it - which was about a week ago. Actually a lot of her vids are worth checking out. ;)

Also.... I can't make my mind up about participating (as a vidder) in Big Bang. I know it'd be fun and a great challenge but the idea of vidding a story really worries me. It'd be AU and I'm just not good at that. Also, I suppose the time commitment concerns me. Ack! I think I might just have to enjoy the final products. :)

OMG, John Acklebury and Tristan Jarett are my current obsession. I am an Austen fiend and the author captures the style perfectly.

And as much as I'd love to nudge you to participate in Big Bang, AU vids are definitely not the easiest. Plus more deadlines! EEP.

Oh yay!!! You read it too?!! I can't believe how in love I am with those characters. And the writing. And everything...\o/

And yeah, Big Bang is probably a bit beyond me at the moment. Especially when I have other stuff I want to do. :)

(now to go an fix up this post. I have no idea how it ended up showing before I hit post..)

I read it a bit ago and decided to download the podfic as well, just because I liked it so much. Normally I don't bother with podfic of fics I've already read because, well, more fic that way! But yes, it's wonderfully written.

Speaking of participating in fandom projects, have you heard about AO3 Vidders?

The podfic is fabulous. Here voice is made for this kind of fic. I've just discovered podcasts this as a way of increasing my reading time. Just not enough hours in the days for everything fandom produces!

And thank you so much for the link. I have been pondering participating in that as well. It looks like an exciting project and one I'd love to support. So yep. Definitely on the cards that one. (The time frame looks doable too).

Wanted to add I went over to see the vid and I also enjoyed it. Do you know if she has an LJ or DW account?

Not that I know of. In fact I'm sure she doesn't. (yet!) :)

Hey Honey, you know, you don't have to pick a story that's AU. Some of them do fit in with cannon. You could always sign up, and then if nothing inspires you, just don't claim anything. Just a thought - I know you're gonna continue making us awesome vids regardless of what you decide for big bang. ♥

Oh. So you can sign up and if nothing looks doable you can just not do anything?

I suppose I'm always worried about inspiration with these things. And song choices etc. And meeting a writer's expectations.. Though I do like the prospect of working with someone to get an idea together. Argh. We'll see.

And thanks honey. That's a lovely thing to say. <3

Yes, authors provide an artist summary and the mods compile those into giant lists. Then the artists must claim the fic they will work on. Last year every story was claimed within 48 hours, or less, I don't remember exactly, but it was quick. And then they did a second round for the people who had missed out to be a second artist on a fic, but that was only open for a short time. So no, no one will make you work on a story that doesn't inspire you... ;)

Thank you for the lovely review!

That video is wonderful and terribly sad. Nice to see such an emotional look at the small, sad stories that make up part of almost every ep of SPN.

FWIW, I think for something as big as SPN BB, you have to really feel it, or it will be an anvil around your neck. I missed the deadline LAST year to sign up with Restraint, and as it turns out, I'd have barely made it this year. I'm glad I decided to go my own way on my large project.

Thank you for the lovely review!

Totally deserved! (and way to inadequate I'm afraid).

I agree that vid is so sad - it captures so nicely what the boys have to face each time they can't save someone.

And yes, re BB. I think the "anvil" could be a problem... more due to the time factor and the feeling of "having" to get it done. Though sometimes I know people produce their best work under pressure.

I'm thinking I might participate in the AO3 Vidder's Auction that's coming up instead. :)

xx
