World Cup

Paul the Octopus has predicted Spain to win over Netherlands in the World Cup. Which means of course Spain will win. Paul (*chuckles* perfect name for an octopus) has been correct 7 times out of the last 7 predictions he has made. 11 out of the last 13. Though in the past he's only been asked to predict matches that Germany have been in. I wonder if that makes a difference.?? Go Paul!

I went looking for The Hardy Boys on DVD today (/o\). When a shop assistant asked if he could help me I said "err, no", even though I really wanted to ask whether they had the DVD's but I was too embarrassed to ask. And he could TELL! He said "I can see you are looking for something in particular" and I still said "no, that's ok". I am ashamed at my gutlessness.

I saw some HB eps on YT and they really are quite woeful... but I was so IN LOVE with them all those years ago. I wanted a trip down memory lane. I still want them on DVD... //o\\

Cat-in-a-bowl.

Our cat, Harvey Pepper (though we call him Fatty Bombah), has curled up in this bowl since he was a kitten. He's still doing it even though he doesn't fit quite as well. Always makes me smile.

Barry the Burger Cushion

We were out shopping today and this took my husband's fancy, so we bought it. I named it Barry because clearly it needed a name. :) I mean really. *headshake*

Random pretty of local scenery: (hubby's photos)

Swan River, Sandy Beach Reserve (local park)

Sandy Beach Reserve

Swan River at dawn ('cause that's when hubby goes rowing...)

Damn this hiatus is killing me. I've taken to posting random, non spn, non viding related posts.

Hope you all are doing well this weekend.

Hee! Our cat looks adorable but he's quite antisocial. I think that's why he like to curl up away from us all. Lucky we have another one who is very social and loveable. :D

That Sandy Beach Reserve shot is gorgeous. Looks rather like grace in a tree *cough*

Harvey Pepper (though we call him Fatty Bombah)

Hee! This makes me think of a child with a tattered favorite blanket.

I haven't heard of the Hardy Boys being out on DVD. Yeah, it was a less than stellar show but I loved it too. I really liked Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew, though I disliked how they had adapted Nancy's stories. I thought they did rather better with the Hardy Boys ones, though this may be because I was less attached to those books.

Hee! Yes. Might have not been such a silly idea after all. :)

I haven't heard of the Hardy Boys being out on DVD.

They are available. I can get them online so really I should do just that. Though the place I went also had them so I thought I'd be able to just go and get it, but alas, it looks like someone else was into them and bought it before me.

I thought PSM was great as Nancy Drew. I was never a huge Nancy fan (I didn't read the books) but I enjoyed the character when play by Pamela. :D And you loved them too? Yay! I don't feel so alone. :)

And poor Fatty Bombah... he's the strangest cat. With his rather small head and huge body.

Ha! I once had a cat like that, too. He looked perfectly normal as a kitten but got this odd skew when he was fully grown.

And you loved them too? Yay! I don't feel so alone. :)

Given how popular the series was here (albeit briefly) I'm pretty sure you have a lot of company.

There were voices heard over here about how to cook and eat Paul because he predicted us loosing against spain....lolol.

I get shy sometimes about things that shouldn't be a problem. Too close to the heart to "survive" odd looks. Maybe you want to find/order the DVDs in the internet somewhere. (Or send your hubby to the shop(s)...*g*.)

Your bowl-cat is just too cute!
And omg the Burger cushion. I was close to buying one of those once. ^_^

I love the Sandy Beach Reserve pic. Really beautiful how the sun shines through the trees.

So this were my random answers to your random post ;) and now my attention goes back to how to keep cool. We have 38°C over here and air conditioning is practically unknown in private households. *melts*

*sweaty hug* (lol)

Yes! I heard about that. I find the whole Paul thing hilarious - but wow! He was right again.

(Or send your hubby to the shop(s).

Oh man! He was with me. After I told him what happened, right in front of a shop assistant he yells "what did you want to ask the shop assistant about?". *hits him* lol

And they are available through the internet. I was just hoping I could get them then and there. Looks like I might have to order on line after all.

Sandy Beach is such a lovely location. It's a few minutes away from us - it's a great place to go.

38 degrees eh? I've been hearing about the heat wave that's been hitting parts of the northern hemisphere. Hope you find a way to stay cool hun. We are drowning in rain here at the moment.

*rain drenched hug*

Hahaha! Who needs THAT?!!....

(And: trade you some sweat for some rain. lol.)

And now I'm off to the lake. It's the only thing that helps to cool down. :)

Very pretty pictures!

And I actually owned the Hardy Boys DVDs (ordered online! No asking necessary *g*), and then forced my friends to watch them with me at a fannish gathering, and then I gave them away to some guy at work who had young kids and did not ask what I was doing with Hardy Boys DVDs.

Thanks. :)

Hee! And yes, I think on-line will be the way to go. The place I went had them for sale a while ago - but looks like there are some other fans out there and they were gone. :(

And yay! A fannish gathering to watch the Hardy Boys. I reckon that would be such a hoot. Especially watching the eps where Shaun sings../o\. :D :D

So...Parker or Sean? No, really, and if it changed as an adult, do tell. <33

Hee! Well, I confess I was a major and I mean MAJOR Shaun Cassidy fan. He was like my first pop star crush- you know where you have pictures on the wall and you dream of actually meeting and marrying him one day. HA!!

But wow - I look back and really wonder what I might have been taking. *g* I think if I had to choose these days it's be Parker. I think he was the better actor in the series though I admit to still having a soft spot for Joe. Maybe it's the younger brother thing.

:D

ETA: Did you ever see This vid (http://community.livejournal.com/supernaturalvid/1058613.html) by maichan and I? I'm thinking I might submit it for Wincon?? (Speaking of The Hardy Boys...;) )

Hee! (And I can't believe I misspelled Shaun, because I luuuuuuuurved him, too.) My taste has since changed as well, but that boy. Sheesh.

And I missed that vid, so thank you for the link! I tend to be offline for several months at a time when work flares up, and that was one of our busy seasons this year. And I stupidly thought people were talking about your Channel Hopping vid when I read some comments referencing this one some time ago...

It's awesome! I laughed out loud so many times. And yes, you should. Definitely.

I loved the Hardy Boys series -- and I was decidedly NOT a child when it was on! I knew it was weak, but there was something so comfortable about it because I had read all the books as a kid, and of course the actors were pretty enough. PSA did a nice job on Nancy for the series. Didn't warm to her replacement.

I got both the 1st and 2nd seasons on DVD from Amazon. I don't believe they will ever release the 3rd season, which was cut short by cancellation, IIRC. Too bad.

Oh yes - comfortable! That's exactly it. It's so, um... innocent or something. Plus I did love their brotherly bond. :)

I didn't realise Season 3 was cut short.

I saw this: http://www.tvdvdtown.com/product.php?productid=39100

which suggests it has all 3 seasons (so up to the where it was cancelled I suppose). I was thinking of getting this. Not sure if $75 is reasonable. It probably is, especially as it seems to be the only place to get to get all the episodes. I think. :)

This looks to me like S1&2 maybe (if you're lucky) copied off the professional DVDs, tehn S3 transfered from videos. Given that the only decent video technology available to the masses in the late 70s was the Sony U-Matic (which I had), and it recorded to 1" tape wound in clunky big cassettes, I doubt the videos from which these DVDs would be taken are from the original broadcasts. Of course, it's possible. But they're more likely to be dubs from recordings made off-air during later syndication, so the quality would be so-so, and there's no guarantee that in syndication, the episodes weren't cut for air. This was typically done to create more time for commercials than used to exist during first runs of older shows. Also, the fact that there are 19 DVDs with "custom artwork" suggests this is a homemade job. Buy at your own risk!

ps: You could always e-mail the guy and ask if you can just buy S3. (Seasons 1 & 2 are still available via Amazon.com for $26.49 each.

Ahhh, that is what I wondered.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I really wasn't sure - especially as that product wasn't available anywhere else.

And if S1 &S2 are available for that price on Amazon I might just have to do that then.

*hugs* thanks. :D
