Yay! Sherlock vid! Better Version of Me" by the wonderful
thandie The footage is so damn viddable and Thandie makes the absolute best use of it. The pacing is snappy and highlights the nature of their relationship. Fantastic.
I know there are slashy undertones to be found in the show, but for me I am adoring the pure nature of their friendship and how they compliment each other perfectly.
And for some thoughts about .
Of course it didn't have that wonderful "wow, I didn't expect that" factor going into the second episode but it was still a delightful ride. Their characterisations still had me smiling like a loon as well as the witty dialogue.
Though I do have a couple of gripes. The problem with a show being about the "clever" is that when something happens that seems really "dumb" it stands out like a sore thumb. For example when Sherlock searched for a map to find Watson's location when he had the London A-Z previously in his hand.
Also (and this really bugged me) when Watson's poor date is tied to the chair threatened to have a spear shot through her body (now that's what I call a first date!), why the hell didn't she just tip the chair over? Ok. She may have been too terrified to, although this is the same gal that attacked the badies in an earlier scene. But why, why did Sherlock try to untie her when all he had to do was move the chair? See, that bugged me because that was kinda obvious. Watson had the right idea and it eventually happened.. but yeah. That was a bit frustrating. (I understand the need to build tension but not at the expense of being stupid. Or did I miss something?!)
Everything else I enjoyed. Not as much as the first one, but enough to make me really look forward to the next one. And you're all telling me there's only 3?! Criminal.

Date: 2010-08-06 04:55 pm (UTC)Ok, this is exactly what made me rate the episode as poor, compared to the first one. I was thinking that maybe I have noticed the chair being anchored on something, but I didn't care to check, tbh. No idea!
And thank you so much for the rec, bb! ♥
"hen he had the London A-Z previously in his hand."
Didn't think about this actually...didn't he need to know the placement of a station? Maybe he didn't bother to see if there was a metro map on the book and just checked for the map he knew he had?

Yeah. That could be it. It didn't bother me much but my hubby was all over it.
*hugs*
