SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sep. 23rd, 2010 10:02 amTime to squee and bather about my show. *bounces*
I suspect this will hold little interest but I feel likeblathering talking about my gorgeous show for a bit. Particularly my hopes (and fears) for season 6.
I don't mention any spoilers. I was spoiling myself but I have not watched any promos (well...one...) in the hope that I can enjoy the "surprise". (though I am spoiled for some of 6.01 YAY 6.01!!! I typed 6.01 It'll be happening soooooonnnn!!!!! \o/)
Ok. Calm now.
I wouldn't call myself a spoilerphobe. Titles and promo pics etc are all cool and if I get accidently spoiled so be it, but I think I am going to (try) and avoid episode promos this year so I can go in completely unaware. I have found that my enjoyment of the show increased when I had no idea what was going to happen (I did not know the boys were going to be shot and killed in Darkside of the Moon for example, which heightened the watching just that bit more...).
So.
The Hopes:
(Please allow me to start with the purely shallow *g*)
First aid: (shallow remember...*g*) My desire to see the boys in post injury care was somewhat fulfilled in I Know What You Did Last Summer, but I want MORE! Surely we can have some stitches (and no, stitching themselves, as per Mystery Spot, does not count!), or some chest binding because of broken ribs would be nice. I'd even settle for actually seeing their first aid kit. It must be damn impressive!
Bound Sammy! Or Dean.. or don't mind which. (though I do have a thing for Sam...). I'm not ashamed to admit I have a thing for my boys in peril. Particularly if one's in peril and the other is left angsting over the other brother in peril... then of course the angsting bro rescues the in-peril bro and they hug happily ever after. I realise this doesn't always make interesting television (and that's why fanfic is AWESOME!) but I can hope for a wee bit can't I? In other words, I'd like to see some good old fashioned action and adventure.
Ok. Moving on from the shallow.
I would like to see the boys catch a break. Somehow make what they do seem worthwhile again -to them. There's been SO much hurt, so much angst and anger and pain. I would like to see the potential for some relief for them. Meaning, I would like season 6 to start lifting the blanket of doom and grief. I'd like to see it lighten up a bit. (and no, I'm not wanting it to turn into some sort of sitcom or get rid of the angst all together, just go easy. I'm not sure I could emotionally survive another season 4 and 5).
I want to see SMART boys. Our boys are smart (they wouldn't have survived up until now if they weren't), so I want to see more of that. I want to see them being clever and resourceful. Not being led into stupid situations because the story line requires it (The Devil You Know anyone?! sorry, I will never forgive that episode nor Swap Meat). I get that they can make mistakes, but not stupid ones...
I want the boys to like each other again. Oh sure. They love each other. They'd die for each other, but I'd like to see some of those (now rare) moments of them enjoying each others company. (remember Hell House? My god... when was the last time they laughed together!?!). I'd like to see a gradual strengthening of their relationship over the season and NOT the one step forward, two steps back and then WHAM! Dark Side of the Moon! kind of season.
And...
I'd like to be surprised. Not sure how. But I'd probably like to see a new (less heavy) story arc introduced that takes us totally by surprise. Of course I'm not asking for too much. *g*
The Fears...
More guilt for Dean. (please.... he's got enough. Time to lift some off his shoulders.)
More Sam-is-a-bad-little-brother. He's not! Sure, he's flawed... but give him a break in the "make Dean feel even more guilty" department. Please. I will be seriously PISSED if they give viewers a reason to dislike Sam any more. And they will do that if they make Sam inadvertently hurt Dean some more... sheesh.... give them both a break from that.
More "not-exactly-sure-what-to-do-with-Castiel". He's obviously a fixture in the show, so now might be the time to give him a real purpose and strengthen his character. (no disrepect for the lovely Misha. I think he's done a remarkable job with limited character focus from the writers).
Little things I'd like to see:
Washing the Impala
Mothman
Seriously spooky episodes (Amityville type creepy).
Grand Canyon (I know... not gonna happen)
Mention (or, even return) of the amulet. (I know that's not gonna happen either..:( )
Hugging. Or at least lots of bro touching - of the h/c variety :D
But really? At this very moment.... I just CAN'T WAIT to see the boys again and see what happens now. \O/

Date: 2010-09-23 12:23 pm (UTC)I've said it many times before, but I kind of like them arguing and falling out IF underneath it all I can see that the bond between them is still there and that they still care for one another, still like each other, want to be working together not pressured into it - I've watched some episodes and wondered why the shit they even bothered with each other anymore. So yes, I agree, a little joy from being together would go a hell of a long way. I'd also like a new direction for them both, one they can both work towards that involves them trusting one another again, no more, please no more blaming Sam for everything - it's an ugly cop out. I'd die for washing the Impala, ditto target practice or hand to hand training - something more playful between them, I'd love to see them smile at each other again - *sigh* - something like that gorgeous Wink we had between them last year? - one moment in a whole bloody series just isn't enough. Oh and can they patch each other up please?
I'm totally spoiler free, was for 4 and 5 and I enjoy the hell out of it, I really do, even though it's bloody hard, everyone is chatting about the promo and the pictures and the spoilers and I do feel a little left out. Last year I caved and watched the "O Death" promo and as fantastic as it was? Won't do it again, I kicked myself for it. I've gone as far as installing NoScript on Firefox now so I can now block ALL the promo vids that keep turning up on my flist and I'm one happy, expectant SPN fan, they can only please me from here on as I have no prior expectations at all.

no more, please no more blaming Sam for everything
I think above all this. I know the boys need character traits and flaws and I love that they do - but I'm hoping that both Dean and Sam can move away from the "guilt" and move onto some trust.
Oh and can they patch each other up please?
It's not too much to ask is it??!!! :)
I'm seriously hoping I can remain a bit more spoiler free than I have. I'll probably still look at promo pics (maybe) because they usually don't give too much away... but we'll see. I will try to be strong!!
Enjoy!! And I'll see you around after the show! :D :D
