Mixed bag...
Oct. 16th, 2010 05:10 pmHaven't watched ep yet... watching for a good me-time moment. This evening me thinks. In the meantime... stuff:
I signed up to
festivids. Yay. I'm kinda excited about this. There are so many awesome shows and movies to pick from. I think it'll be great fun vidding source material I haven't used before. Plus get a vid I want to see. Double yay!!
Recs:
The lovely
starrylizard has made 2 awesome Sherlock vids. Totally worth checking out if you're into Sherlock (and who wouldn't be??!!), or even if you're not. Both are wonderful celebrations of the mere 3 episode TV show.
A Different Light Looks at John's relationship with Sherlock. Fabulous song with great story telling.
The Game is On BAMF!Sherlock. So cool.
Podfic stuff...
I often blab about the awesome that are podfics. Well, there's something else I've discovered recently and that is I'm listening to stuff that I may not necessarily click on to read. A perfect example is this ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL fic by
poisontaster. It's about John picking the Impala. It's the Impala's POV. It's probably not something I would normally read but I must admit I was curious to know what poisontaster sounded like and I downloaded it. And... WOW,WOW. Wow the story and WOW her reading of it.
It's I will return to you and it was written in 2007. Before In the Beginning, so it's not how it ends up being. But it could have been. It's so, so gorgeous. And between this and
smilla02's Impala voice I have got a complete picture of this car and her love for her owners. Highly recommended if you haven't already read it.
Have I raved about
juice817's voice yet? Honestly, it's heavenly. It's as though she is speaking directly to you. Especially for you. If you are new to podfic and not sure where to start choose anything by her and you'll see how wonderful they can be.
Now just have to wait for the right time to watch Jensen's directorial debut. I watched the behind the scenes vid of him directing and... *swoon*. I adore behind the scenes stuff and that vid was wonderful. There's also a new vid about his directing as well. No new footage of the episode, just the actors chatting about the experience, and Jared declaring his love (yet again) for his BB. I particularly love how supportive Jared is of him and his comment.."He's my favourite director so far". :D (and yep! It does mean I'm now spoiled for this ep. But I couldn't resist it...)
Also, have you noticed how pretty those boys are? You know.. just in case you missed that. *G*

This is so true! And it's been true for me of reading fic in fandoms that I've never participated in (there are plenty of shows/movies/books that I've watched and read, but never sought fic for), and it's been really enjoyable discovering stories I would never have read through podfic.

Date: 2010-10-17 12:22 am (UTC)I agree with all those other readers. I don't know pennyplainknits - so yay! I'll check her out. I've just discovered twasadark. It took a couple of goes before I could really get into her, but now I'm totally hooked. She has a wonderful reading style and voice.
Time to download some more.... :)

Date: 2010-10-18 09:10 pm (UTC)I admit to being biased about twasadark, because she is the reason I discovered podfic'ing in the first place: she recorded a ficlet of mine from another fandom, and I got such a HUGE kick out of hearing my story read aloud that I had to go in search of moaaaaaaaaaar :D
Keep the recs coming! I love hearing what other people are listening to.

Date: 2010-11-02 01:59 pm (UTC)I just had to come back and thank you for the rec for pennyplainknits. I've just finished the most adorable fic read by her (Dean as a dog sitter \o/) and I've just started another one. (Dorky boys fic *G*) I agree her reading style is wonderful. Absolutely sells the story. I must say I found it hard to get used to the way she says "says".... never heard it pronounced like that before. But I think it adds to the charm.
So thanks. :) Loving them.
