spn_sceneit is calling for Inspiration! The new inspiration post is up so here's the chance to voice your ideas.

Come on! You know you've heard a song or had an idea for a vid so why not leave it in a comment and see if a vidder might pick it up. You never know...

Now. Speaking of inspiration I need you all to TALK ME DOWN because I had this wee little (stupid) idea pop into my wee little (stupid) brain and even though I know this couldn't really work I need someone to confirm it for me. Otherwise it will fester and then somehow, actually happen...

I don't think I've ever seen this (for a damn good reason I suspect...)

But. You know how we have comment fic - people leave prompts and authors go away and write awesome stuff..weeeellll... could it ever happen that we have a comment vid meme. Where peeps leave prompts and vidders go away and make a vid...??

I am aware the problems (and hence stupid idea...) : vids take a long time to make, there aren't that many vidders around who would take on such a challenge etc. BUT! IF we had enough vidders show interest it could possibly, maybe work. (??) I'm pretty sure they'd be enough prompts but would there be the vidders to make them..?! It would be kinda cool to have a some vids around from fan prompts.

So tell me... (vidding flisters especially).....potential? Multi fandom? Vidlets? Or have I just had a glass too many tonight../o\

I think a comment vid meme would certainly be interesting. :D I know that sometimes comment fics are something people do quickly and on the fly - I'm not sure how that translates to vidding, but it'd be worth trying a round for sure.

I like the open or multi-fandom myself - but it could work with just SPN, too. Allowing for responses to be vidlets (maybe even shorter?) would certainly be a bonus. Here are some examples of 10-20 second vid-responses to prompts - a different fandom, but I thought it was a creative way to fill a prompt. Like a teaser or something?

Hmmm... those are interesting little vids. I can't say I've seen that before.

Perhaps the length could be open to the vidder. Maybe there don't need to be rules about how long or short it has to be...

The teaser idea is interesting also. Thanks so much for your suggestions. I'll probably mull over this for a little bit..

Wow, I love those little vidlets! They very much remind me of commentfic fills. I've never seen that approach to filling prompts with vids before (I think they're doing a bingo?), but the little 10-20 sec. bite-sized pieces are about the only way I could see myself participating in a challenge like this, because of how long it takes me to create an individual piece. (Heck, for festivids, I couldn't even churn any treats out in time, and they only have to be a minute long. /o\)

But yay to Ash for thinking of running any kind of challenge. Vidders unite! :)

Hey gorgeous..

Those little vids are quite something aren't they? Very cool idea. And a lot less daunting then having to put together a full vid. Or even a minute one.

And festivids /o\ I couldn't even full fill my one vid promise. I'm not even going to sign up this year. I felt so bad for not making one. Especially as I received one.

And thanks hun. I'll see what they interest is. I might even end up making it very casual. Invite prompts and vidders can run with what ever they feel comfortable with.

Same here. I didn't do any treats for festivids for the same reason. :( I was relieved to get my regular one in - LOL!

I love vid exchanges, but they're always so structured. Something more free-form and loose sounds like a fun experiment.

Can you tell me if those 10-20 sec vids were part of a wider community of prompts? Or was it this girls way of filling a bingo card?

(Man...I love that idea so much. I just watched all those vidlets and even though I don't know the fandom I found each one engaging).

It was for a bingo card (and I kinda sort dared her to vid the card). She did a pretty fantastic job. :D I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind being linked as an example.

I'm starting to get excited for this now. :D

I ended up emailing her for permission and she said that it would be fine. I think she did a great job and if vidders were interested in doing something like that it would be cool.
