Come on! You know you've heard a song or had an idea for a vid so why not leave it in a comment and see if a vidder might pick it up. You never know...
IDEA...
Now. Speaking of inspiration I need you all to TALK ME DOWN because I had this wee little (stupid) idea pop into my wee little (stupid) brain and even though I know this couldn't really work I need someone to confirm it for me. Otherwise it will fester and then somehow, actually happen...
I don't think I've ever seen this (for a damn good reason I suspect...)
But. You know how we have comment fic - people leave prompts and authors go away and write awesome stuff..weeeellll... could it ever happen that we have a comment vid meme. Where peeps leave prompts and vidders go away and make a vid...??
I am aware the problems (and hence stupid idea...) : vids take a long time to make, there aren't that many vidders around who would take on such a challenge etc. BUT! IF we had enough vidders show interest it could possibly, maybe work. (??) I'm pretty sure they'd be enough prompts but would there be the vidders to make them..?! It would be kinda cool to have a some vids around from fan prompts.
So tell me... (vidding flisters especially).....potential? Multi fandom? Vidlets? Or have I just had a glass too many tonight../o\

Date: 2011-07-22 03:20 pm (UTC)Might be just me, but the difference of a comment vs fest - The only problem I see is with a comment meme is usually one doesn't claim it they just go forth and write or in this case vid, so there is a possibly of vidders being inspired by the same prompt of song/fandom and though 2 pov might be awesome 4 or 5 could be redundant.
With a fest, prompts are claimed so its not over kill. Also you don't have to have sign ups unless you really want to. I run a summer fest, and for 2 weeks have people throw out prompts. I then put the prompts on a separate post and let people claim. Each prompt is allow to be use twice then its out of play.
Hmm, writing that out I see the problem that a fest is more work & a comment-vid meme would be less. Maybe have the comment-vid style, but have vidders still claim that they're going to work on a particular prompt. This will also help vidders who don't like to repeat songs. I won a vidder in an auction and we ended up having a difficult time. She hated repetition, so if someone already used a song on UT regardless of fandom she couldn't use it- then again maybe it was her way of getting out of making a vid, as I never did get a vid from her. I stopped bidding on auctions because of that, I don't have $$ so my bids were under $50. After 5 auctions only had 1 vidder who fulfilled her commitment.
Anyhoo, I do love the idea. Of course I'm guilty that I have a ton of ideas for prompts =)
If I ever get my shit together and get the programs to rip source & learn how to vid, then I could play on the vidders side. Sigh, maybe next year ;)

Date: 2011-07-23 04:09 am (UTC)In the poll there was an overwhelming response to a more casual approach. Which surprised me a little but I can see that it would take the pressure off vidders.
My feeling would be that if a vidder saw a prompt and really wanted to vid it they could claim it. There could be a rule that no more than 2 claims per prompt. To be honest though, I would be surprised if people wanted to claim any that had already been snagged.
Hmm... ok. I think I'll open a filtered discussion post on this. That way this idea can been really honed and happening.
Oh and I hate hearing vidders haven't fulfilled their auction promises. It's one of my big concerns with these auctions. I've made 3 vids for auction winners - there's no way I couldn't fulfil that. In fact I feel restless until I do.
I'd really like to see this work so that people can have their prompts filled (without having to pay for it).
Thanks so much for your input. :)
Hmm..
