I won't deny that this vid was hard. I think the more I make vids the more I know how much better they could be and this one particularly so. I adore this song and really just wanted to do it justice. It's very simple really- nothing flashy in terms of effects etc. It was the lyrical interpretation that was killing me! I wanted to show all the ways in which Dean is there for Sam - in terms of what he "gives" him. I suppose I count a lot on viewers understanding of the context in which these moments occur also.

I can't thank my wonderful beta _sharvie_ enough. She truly is a talented beta. I'm kinda amazed she stuck through me with this - it's because of her I actually finally finished it. *squeezes tight*

I also had a lot of hand holding with this one. Special thanks to Gaby, Coastal5 and Gentlesideofury for some much needed inititial feedback.

As you say, simple - but that's what this song called for. Simple, very beautiful, and paced just right. Lovely work.

You say you count on the viewers understanding the context of these moments, but I think that's OK. After all, most of your viewers are going to be like me, totally bought in to these characters and their relationship already. So, it totally worked for me. Gave me a lump in my throat, even. Well done.

Wow, Ash, I think this might be my new favorite video of yours. While I adore your crackvids to smithereens, this one really connected with me on an emotional level.

I loved the overhead shot of Sam and Dean walking that leads into the opening titles. There's just something about the playful shove and the composition of the frame that make it really effective.

Also, the sequence from 1:54-2:07 was just beautifully edited, with the seamless transitions from the first fire to the second, and then from black and white to color.

And I really have to hand it to you on your clip selection. Non-literal, conceptual lyrical interpretation is always the hardest thing to do. I thought you undoubtedly succeeded in capturing the "guardian angel" aspect of the brothers' relationship. *wibble*

I almost didn't start with that instrumental section as the beginning - it was Shavie who suggested I did. That was the first clip that sprung to mind for that opening.

That's beautiful. What I like is how this seems to show Sam's strength as a person, on his own, but why and how he still needs Dean, and everything Dean does for him.

2. Great editing, pacing, atmosphere beautifully created. Loved the colour choices.

Ah yes - it was the POV that gave me some concern with this. I had always set out to make it Sam's, but I don't think I actually nailed that completely. It was actually really tricky. My original version of this was Dean's POV and looking back at that one - it was "murky" too.

Okay gotta say this vid is so emotionally touching, I think I've watched it a dozen times. The song had the potential to be done a bit sappy but you prevented that entirely with your image choices, emphasizing not only the happier but the bloodier moments of brotherly bonding. Also I love that you chose black and white for this and the fuzzy border effect which added to the overall mood. It's joy and tears all rolled into one and for my part I can't imagine anything that could have done the song more justice.

I've had that on various projects, though it's been a while since since I've made anything I've shared broadly. I think the creator is often the most critical of a piece so I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed it. Also I'm fairly sure 'angsted' is a word. If it isn't now it will eventually become one so we might as well use it and be ahead of the curve.

I have to say, I think this is one of the most beautiful vids I've seen in this fandom. I love how you put this together, and the lyrics to the song really work together incredibly well. For me, this vid is showcases exactly what the show is about - family, love, honor.
